You don't think the religious private schools are brain washing its students?
No. Interested to see you try and prove they are. Also interested to hear your opinion on the overwhelming liberal slant in public schools. Look at the complete mess that’s made on college campuses. It’s a disaster. Religious schools (all religions) are undoubtedly doing more good than harm. Certainly more good than public schools.

Side note: I went to a catholic school early on and then public later. My kids now go to a catholic school.

You can't get much more obvious than a caravan. That's because they are seeking asylum legally. They are not sneaking across the border. They are not "illegal immigrants." Our President has conservatives convinced they're Dothraki.Eyeroll

And the solution you suggest involves more separating of families. It's like they're not even people. I guess all lives only matter when the alternative is having black lives matter.
I see why you are not a lawyer.

The Baylor Lady Bears visited the White House, after winning the national title. They were probably happy to be there, and I am sure happy at the royal reception they got.

It is pretty gay to do a fast food buffet. Especially for a lot of people who likely take care of their bodies. But at least it is the same thing he does for male athletes. Would be a bad look if the male athletes got Ruth's Chris and the females got taco bell. Haha

I didn't move any posts lol. We're talking a couple thousand of miles of wall, a lot in isolated areas. You decided to provide miniature versions. You come in with chump change and expect me that to satisfy me. LOL
Great Wall of China. Did that work?

Pretty sure people pay to go to these schools based on safety, quality of education, and agreement with their mission statement.

Still brain washing.... I'm not sure about the quality of education, especially when it comes to the sciences.... dumb keeps on doing dumb things....

Told you, no matter what example you are given, you reject it. This is why it is useless to talk with idgits like you

I'm not rejecting anything, history and facts reject it. I'm simply on their side. You're basing all your opinions, from what you've heard from Trump. Now that's pathetic.

Seasons over, sport. Clemson requested fast food because they cant have it during the season.

Yes, like the wall around the Vatican works, the wall on Israel's border works, walls around prison works, and walls around the gated communities that Democrat politicians live in (because they're not poor like you people) work.

That's why people keep building them.
^ this

The Berlin wall worked because the folks on the East side of the wall would shoot the hell out of you.

Idiots continue to be idiots.

Start arresting people employing illegal immigrants and see how quickly the problem solves itself.

Addressing the demand will have an effect on the supply. But just like with the war on drugs, the US is obsessed only with choking supply and not addressing demand in a smart, comprehensive way. And we see the results of both policies - failures to fix the issue and ballooning costs.

Every where that they are built.

I lived in a gated community in Jacksonville. Do you want to guess what the crime rate was? It was near zero dude.

Where in hell did you go to school?

No one is saying that a wall will have no effect at all. The issue, as it always is and will be with politics and economics, is whether the benefit is worth the cost. People are pointing out much lower-hanging fruit, and you're saying full steam ahead with the less cost-effective solution* because of your anecdotal experience with a gated community in Jacksonville. There's irony in the political right pushing a less cost-effective solution because of emotional appeals (or rather it would be ironic if people on the left and right actually fell into the stereotypes), but not quite as much irony as attempting to call someone dumb while not grasping the basics of the argument.

* See, e.g., https://news.stanford.edu/2018/11/15/border-wall-came-high-cost-low-benefit-u-s-workers/; https://www.washingtonpost.com/busi...nd-its-bad-investment/?utm_term=.09de85f0cbff; https://www.cbsnews.com/news/government-watchdog-questions-whether-border-wall-is-worth-the-cost/; https://phys.org/news/2018-11-economic-impact-border-wall-high.html; https://www.brookings.edu/essay/the...barrier-between-the-united-states-and-mexico/.

Here again there is no consideration of the cost-benefit analysis involved. People build something when the benefits outweigh the costs, not when there is any benefit whatsoever, costs be damned.

I’m sure we have common ground bc I want a more economical fix for sure. I just envision tighter control of the border and actual entry crossings. But also simplify the actual legal way. Clear cut, verifiable documents, check in protocol for x number of years, and a feasible limit to supply and demand. I also think one felony in this time and your done. Developed a process for long time productive illegals to become official. Collect taxes. Designate companies that want to use this new labor to find legal traceable ag jobs ASAP. If immigrants follow all the protocol it should fast track their ability to bring family over with the same standards. You play by the rules, you get preference. You break the rules, you get deported for good. Make it black and white and simple enough that hard working people can become Americans.....second caveat——they have to want to be American and follow our values and justice system.

Good post.

How is it brain washing? You seem to be ignoring this question. Maybe that's because you know your comment was idiotic and untrue.

Who pays for all that shit? The people that have to work 12 months a year and pay for their own health benefits, that's who. And if public schools would stop brain washing our kids, they would not need so much counseling. WTF does a "Library Media Coordinator do anyway?

Public schools brain wash kids? Weird assertion.

Teachers making kids sing praise to Obama, but refuse to let them wear a MAGA hat or shirt, or even US flag shirt, so yes kids are being indoctrinated or brain washed.

There have been isolated (but highly covered) incidents of all three of the examples you use. For example:
  • The Obama praise song issue was based on a 2009 video in NJ where kids were singing for Black History Month. This was rightly and swiftly condemned.
  • Refusal to allow a MAGA hat was based on a school dress code that forbade hats that were anything but the school logo or a solid school color. The same school policy would not allow a student to wear a Golden State Warriors hat, for example.
  • There was a refusal to allow US flag shirts on Cinco de Mayo (that's a pretty effing huge qualifier) because there were incidents in prior years at the school between Mexican and white students on Cinco de Mayo. The American flag was worn specifically to troll or inflame tensions, and so the American flag t-shirts were banned for a single day (my high school had incidents between Somali refugee students and a group of mouth breathers who called themselves the All American Boys that loved to wrap themselves up in the American flag; suffice it to say the AABs are not distinguished alumni). The school's action was upheld by both the district court and a unanimous panel of the Ninth Circuit (queue the ignorant 9th Circuit takes), and SCOTUS declined to grant certiorari. There were other claims of banning flags, but they were either inaccurate, lacked the necessary context (i.e. all flags banned b/c incidents with Confederate traitor rags in a TN school), or unverified.
  • Re: MAGA hats and American flags, schools have considerable discretion re: dress codes for good reasons. If you're ignoring those reasons to find ways to become angry, you might be snowflaking instead of reasoning.
So there are a small handful of incidents that get blown up into "muh liberal indoctrination," but there's not a trend of any sort going on. And you can certainly find examples of indoctrination of traditionally conservative values in public schools that are contrary to the Constitution; consider that 14 states have public schools that teach creationism (i.e. religious dogma) in science classes.

Edit: also your post reads as if teachers are doing all three, when in fact these are not the same teachers/schools/school districts. Probably just sloppy writing.

You think these are widespread or common things? Did you go to public school? Cuz that ain't how it works.

I somehow made it through high school and college (both public) with no idea what the political views of my teachers were.

Teachers who taught math, taught math. Science teachers taught science. English teachers... did nothing.

Wild!

Immigration reforms such as DREAM, yes I’m all for, but let’s be honest, the wall is fcking stupid and a huge waste of tax payer dollars.
Its stupid until its one of your family members killed by someone who shouldn't have even been in the country.

Suddenly---Not so stupid.

Political views wasn't close to a discussion when I graduated HS(1990). Maybe during my gov't class. Even then, it was minute. Society has changed. My political views now are simple: What is best for our country. I rarely vote nationally. But always do so locally.

Ok, try to follow me here. Trump is POTUS. It is the most respected office in the world. He is a world leader. We expect him to act like a leader. Instead, he acts like a petulant child. I had a problem with Obama when he lowered himself to taking shots. Trump has taken it to the next level times ten. In no other industry would his behavior be acceptable. To normalize it is a said thing.
Like I said---Its more about Trump, then it is about his policies. TBH---I don't give a fvck if he wears an AC/DC shirt, farts on TV, calls people names----Whatever. AS long as he's guiding this country in a good way---WTF should it matter how he fvcking acts? See, we are accustomed to how the previous Presidents acted. So obviously, we are programmed to believe this is how one(President) should act. And that if they do not---the country will falter.

Just stupid. Sure his antics are, well, annoying. Childish, sure. But who gives a fvck? Is he getting the fvcking job done? If so----then why care? Hell I hope he gives the State of Union next year in his fcking pajama's, with a glass of bourbon, stogie and Melania right beside in a hot ass nightie.

My point was that society hasn't changed that much. I'm 28, so I'm not too far removed from high school or college. I don't think politics are being brought into schools at the scale some people like to believe.

Gotcha. I think society has changed a ton in the sense of "sharing" political views.

I can’t believe this thread has lasted this long. The letter laid out why they did not attend. And coming from Bennett have no reason to believe otherwise. Yes I would like to have saw the team attend. But it didn’t happen so we move on.

Clearly he is not leading this country in an effective manner. He purposefully trolls a huge portion of the US population. He has a rotating door of appointees. Jim freaking Mattis quit on Trump. It’s not alarming to you because you support his side. But being divide, petulant, and crass is a bad look for any leader. FTR, one of my biggest complaints was Obama reaching across the aisle and taking shots at the right. To effectively govern, you need to be magnanimous and open to compromise. Trump is none of those things.

FTR, Trump is mostly not getting the job done. Things are fine right now. But the deficit is growing. HC is still a mess. China hasn’t come to the table. Infrastructure remains a problem. He’s been largely ineffective.
