UVA Declines White House Invitation

Trump doesn't want to give up his returns because he doesnt want to provide a glimpse into his actual net worth. Income is obviously only a small part of wealth, but he has built up a persona that he's an extraordinary and successful businessman. In reality, he made one particularly good real estate purchase at the start of his career (with dad's help) and became a successful reality TV star after that. In between those things, he sank business after business. I'm being hyperbolic, but he's not the tycoon he holds himself out as.

I want his returns released just for the embarrassment he would feel and the bruise to his enormous self-righteous ego. I don't much care about the potential Russian investment income or the like.
Lordy, lot of dumb in this post.

Are you dumb?

He knows how to move his base. Period.

And ML off. You don't agree with me about a single thing I listed, so your question is rhetorical anyway.
I believe that you believe it, and thats why I asked how in the world you could feel Trump will be re-elected if he has been so terrible for the country.

I voted for Hillary and I think she would have been a significantly better President than President Trump. What she wouldn't have accomplished, however, is firing up progressives. We'd have done the same stupid thing we did after President Obama's election: pat ourselves on our backs for an historical first, then sit back all complacent while an even worse Tea Party was the only group taking it to heart when Hillary echoed Obama's call for everyone to chip in and do their part.

President Trump will be reelected. At the end of his 8 years, we will be in way worse shape than before wrt climate change, wealth disparity, foreign relations, civil rights, political corruption, national debt, corporate royalty, judicial extremism, social division, and more.

A moderate isn't going to fix that. A moderate will make that continuing decline temporarily less turbulent. The only thing that's going to fix anything is going to be a progressive who takes on desperate issues with the fervor they require, or outright revolution.

Sucks to suck

Not sure she has potential.

There's something to be said for winning at her age.

She's, at least, no dumber than the average politician. That's not saying much because they don't tend to be particularly bright individuals, but there are certainly dumber ones than her. One of them is running the country.

This was posted a page after:

Your question assumes that elections are necessarily meritorious. They are not. They suffer from both the voters themselves (ill-informed, single issue, different priorities, etc...) and structural issues (first past the post, two-party system, electoral college, distribution of voters, etc...). And that's a really basic point that you surely understood before you posted. But if you don't, then consider that Americans spend more time planning vacations than planning for retirement and what that means for elections.

I usually get alerts when someone quotes me, and I assume that you do, too, so you likely saw this answer to your question. Now I'm not Dattier, and maybe you have a hard-on for getting his answer specifically, but this is the answer to why it's possible to believe both that Trump (or any other politician) sucks and can be reelected. And you already know this anyway.
