Big news brewing in Lexington today

I didn’t realize tattooing before the games was a big thing in Kentucky. I sure hope this was a different dude.

It makes more sense the more you think about it. Cow tipping and drinking belligerently at home can get old. Drunk tattooing is a past time in the bluegrass.

Newcomer of the year is an award for transfers ya big dummy. How would he win that as a true freshman? Hint: He didn't, and there is also a freshman of the year award (which he also didn't win).

2nd team Big 12, LOL. OH BOY!!!

Didn't even make 1st team in his conference, much less conference and national PoY. Same player though. 😂

Look at his wikipedia page ya big dummy.... big 12 all newcomer team.

He avgeraged a double double as a freshman. Hes the exact same player just gets more playing time at UK because you guys dont have the talent you used to.

Cal doesn't use the scholarship guys he does have. So its kind of a mute point. It was very much a low risk, high reward play. The slim chance Sharpe suits up for college, I would rather it be at UK than somewhere else.
He's on his 3rd school and got beat out by Stetson Bennett...
He didn’t get beat out by Stetson. He finished 2020 as the starter and was the starter in 2021 until he got hurt. Uga was just rolling with Stetson to where at the Pont Daniels was healthy they didn’t want to screw with chemistry.

False...

He saved uga's season in 2020 when bennett lost 2 games. He won out and won the peach bowl for uga.

Was named the starter in 2021 but got hurt.

Hes 7-0 as the starter at UGA with some pretty inpressive numbers.

Health is the only concern.

And couldn't win the job back. WVU is a good spot for him.

Fact remains he couldn't win the job back.

I live down here... every uga fan knows hes way more talented than bennett. Just didnt want to mess with team chemistry late in the season when he got healthy again.

Big time? Ok...

His only full season he had 14 TD and 10 int. 32 and 16 for his career (21 games).

Yes big time... he was top 3 heisman favorite heading into 2021

Health is his only issue....

He didn’t have the chance to win the job back. Had Alabama not had receivers get hurt and they win the title. Daniel is still at uga.
Bullshit. Georgia was the best team last year. Alabama could have gotten Julio Jones back for that game and the Dawgs were going to win going away.

You said, "Pretty sure he was big 12 newcomer of the year and all big 12 as a freshman."

You're right, he was big 12 newcomer of the year, if he changed his name to Davion Mitchell.

Youre really grasping at straws here, Mr. Message Board Moderator. Ok.... he was on the all newcomer team and 2nd team All Big 12 as a true freshman.

Bottom line... same exact player, just more playing time at UK because you had no other good bigs.

Im not even giving Huggs credit for it... he came in that way out of high school. Hes the same player now as he was then. Theres a reason his nba stock is so low

In other news, how do you feel about Neal Brown?

I love that Oscar is coming back. Shit, I hope he comes back again the year after that too because he's never going to be a lottery pick. Just stay at UK for 2 more years and make some real money, young man. Then get your citizenship and move momma to the Bluegrass too if you want. Retire at 25 and let BBN take care of you. Set fo lyfe (stole that one from Duke aka ThE BrOtHeRhOoD).

He's recruiting well, but time for results.

His loyalty to Jarret Doege killed us. I think we were a QB away from being a 8 or 9 win team the last couple years. We had a top 10 Defense nationally the last 2 years (i think) in a conference where its really hard to do that.

He finally gave up play calling, brought in a legit OC and got his QB. He better win at least 8 this year.

Umm what happen in the sec title game then when Bama was fully healthy?

Was surprised he gave up the mic to let someone else run the offense. That was his calling card. All too often head coaches get hired because of their abilities as a coordinator, then they give it up when they become a head coach. It's a head scratcher sometimes. Not saying this is the case with Brown, just a general observation.

Graham Harrell who they hired for Oc is why they got Daniels

Georgia shrunk in the moment but gave it back tenfold. One of the best college defenses I've ever seen.
2011 Alabama and lsu defenses were better. Stetson threw 3 picks in the sec title game. 80 percent of the fanbase wanted him benched for Daniel’s going into the playoffs. Again had they lost again Daniels is still at uga. Uga defense also looked a lot better in national title game with metchie and Williams both out. That changed the game

His play calling was horrrrrible. A lot of that was because we were so limited by Doege, but Neal was spreading himself too thin too. Either way it was on Neal.

We had one guy calling plays between the 20's and Neal calling plays in the red zone. Was a mess.

This has a little bit of a Mike Gundy at Ok State feel to it. He finally gave up play calling in 2011 or whatever year it was, and he stepped into more of a CEO head coach type role. Their program took off from there. Im hoping for similar results.

I'm not arguing about the quarterback. You are vastly underrating how good that UGA team is. Take a look at the article below

Granted its from halfway through the season, but it suggests you are wrong about the Alabama and LSU defenses.

Sounds like it was a mess. Then again good players can make bad play calls look good and vice versa. It's amazing how good (or bad) talented players can make a coach look. Calling plays is one thing, executing them is another.

What a time to be alive. A thread about a NPOY Kentucky basketball player is half filled with football posts.

Big news for Kentucky. I’m glad that they were able to figure out the NIL issue and hope that whatever they did can be repeated by other non-citizen athletes. I think it’d be wrong for them not to have the same ability to earn money on their name.

Good for Oscar. Hope he does well. With that being said. I would’ve gone to the NBA. He could be a formidable role player making good money but to each their own, and I hope he is happy with the decision and does well. Also….

**** the cayuts. 😂

They are probably just paying him under the table with huge bags of cash, Duke style.

A fringe second rounder, returning NPOY, will make more money in Lexington homie (and I assume he knows that).

Didn’t check the draft boards but I assumed he was a mid to late first rounder. Was that not the case? Surprising to me honestly being he was NPOY with the numbers he had being relatively young. Idk.

Patterson and PJ are great examples of what can happen to your game if you stay an extra year. Unfortunately for Oscar, I don't see him having the mobility or handles that those other guys have, who used their extra year to evolve and eventually make some good NBA money. Even if he improved his jumper to 3's, I doubt he would have the same success the others did after they started shooting.

Yeah, he just doesn't have the skill set for the NBA and it's not just something everyone can develop. Look at Hansbrough. Dominant college player. Pros, not so much and he was a lotto pick.
