OT 2020 NFL general discussion thread.

We’re just gonna ignore the new minority hiring rule is actually extremely racist, right?

I think it is. I also think it hurts a guy like bienemy bc no team is gonna wanna give the chiefs more draft picks, esp afc teams, they are the last team in the league that needs more picks.

plus if I’m running a franchise I’d have a minority coach in every assistant job in hopes that they will get hired away and my team will get the extra draft picks.

I've always thought the media narrative that it's racist to not hire Bienemy is funny. Especially when he's had a bunch of interviews. Did they not know he was black before the interview?

There's no reason to think that Bienemy has had a massive impact on the Chiefs' offense. A piece of cardboard could be the OC for a Reid-coached team with Mahomes/Kelce/Hill. Reid builds these coaches up to help advance their careers, but at the end of the day, they're pretty much interchangeable.

Yea I pretty much agree with the same being said for all the belichek assistants. He made them, they didn’t make him.

Baltimore needs to answer here. The Bills set the tone early in the 2nd half.

Tucker doing his best Lin Elliott impression tonight. Tried to miss the third one too.

To make a championship winning team, you need to be very good but also need a little bit of luck. Chiefs have all it takes to win it all again, they are going to 3-peat.

Damn brownies missed a golden opportunity to knock em out with Maholmes sidelined. But Great teams find a way to win, although I can’t help but think any other afc team in this round would have beaten the chiefs today, esp after henne threw that lollipop int.

Something about ifs and buts though, congrats chiefs fans. Hopefully mahomes can play next week, the hit didn’t look all that devastating but concussions are different for everyone.

Never saw any contact to his head....

Yea def a game changing play, sadly for Higgins he made a helluva play just shouldn’t have got so careless with the ball going for the pylon. You have Chubb and hunt, your likely to get in. But alas helluva play by Sorenson.

I don’t like the browns, I’ma packers fan and I don’t see us beating the chiefs if we can even get past TB/NO

That was meltdown city for the Saints (Brees) can't believe Brady is one game away from the SB. Again.

Yea Brees looked like a$$. Not too sure they wouldn’t have been better off with Winston, at least he can throw it further than 15 yards.

Still if Brees didn’t throw pick after pick the saints might have still won despite having no deep threat. Their D played great, all of TBs tds came off short field turnovers.

Can’t see GB beating TB unfortunately. Their defensive front is gonna give us problems just like last time we played I’m afraid.

Packers got this, brah.

Hope ur right. Regardless seems like the nfc is playing for second place.

We don't even know if Mahomes will play yet, or if his foot and brain will be 100%. Also don't know if Watkins/CEH and a few others will play. Some big question marks.

If it ended up being Green Bay vs Buffalo, I'd favor Green Bay.

Mahomes will play. I’ll bet you how much ever you want. The hit that knocked him out wasnt extremely harsh. Just the way he sprinted to the locker room after the play tells me the concussion wasn’t as bad as some, you know where guys can barely walk after the play. He may not be “100%” but mahomes at 85% with those weapons is still arguably better than anyone else. If maholmes can walk and chew bubble gum at the same time on Sunday, he will be on the field playing.

and no offense to your players, but Watkins and CEHs backups are way more than capable. If it was hill or kelce injured I could see your line of thinking, but not the 3-4th options. Especially with bell, Williams, hard man, and Robinson right there to step into those roles.

but yea I’d favor GB or TB over Buffalo too, but it’s not gonna be Buffalo, I hope it is, but I just don’t see it happening.

I get not wanting to jinx your team, but y’all dodged your bullet yesterday imo when maholmes was out and the browns had the ball with a chance to take the lead after hennes terrible int, and ur defense stood up and stopped them, and won the game. Not to mention the Higgins fumble out of the end zone was super fortunate. KC offense gets all the pub and rightfully so, but your defense is very solid as well.

CEH is by far their best RB. Watkins may be their third receiving option, but his presence alone makes the offense a lot harder to stop. Plus, he's been huge in the playoffs. Surviving the Browns is one thing, but going up against the Bills without some of your best players (and maybe a banged-up QB) isn't ideal.

But there's also a decent chance that all three will play and be effective.

They are definitely solid, but the drop off from Watkins to Robinson/hardman or from CEH to Williams/bell is no where near as significant as the drop off between maholmes/kelce/hill and their backups.

I mean if u listed the most irreplaceable players on the roster, including the oline and defense, would CEH and Watkins even be top 10?

I do agree the Bills are obv a much tougher oppenent than the browns but most everyone who follows the NFL would be pretty shocked if Buffalo beat KC, unless maholmes or hill or kelce are out.

Why aren’t u as confident/cocky in the chiefs as you are with the Jayhawks ;p

Both players would rate pretty highly. It's no coincidence that they had by far their worst offensive game of the year (vs a mediocre defense) a few weeks ago when both sat out.

The Bills averaged something like 37 pts/game over the second half of the season. Allen's played out of his mind this season. I don't think the Chiefs are that much better that they can lose some of their best players and expect to cruise with a banged-up QB. Things would definitely be easier with those two back.

What have I said about KU that is cocky? That they've dominated the Big 12? That's like saying that water is wet.

That’s why I threw in the ;p I was just kidding. Saying the Chiefs are thebest team in the nfl is like saying water is wet as well Though.

And I just don’t consider Watkins of CEH to be some of the chiefs best players. Good players, no doubt, but far from irreplaceable like maholmes, hill, kelce, Clark, mathiu, etc. No team is completely healthy this time of year, things could be much worse than missing CEH and Watkins especially when their backups are so talented.

I do agree it all hinges on Maholmes though. I don’t give kc much of a chance against Buffalo if he doesn’t play, but I don’t see any way he doesn’t give it a go.

Mahomes, Watkins, CEH and Breeland are all practicing.

Looks like the gang's all here for the AFCC. Minus the Covid opt-outs and dudes on IR of course.

Only thing that even remotely scares me about KC is that the spread is only -3. Fishy, seems like is should be 6.5. Buffalo has been playing really well though.

Because they’re not sure how effective Mahomes will be. It’s not even a guarantee that he plays yet.
