8th Annual College Basketball Draft

I think the two white freshmen that I took in the latter-half of the draft are going to be okay. Opening night stats...

Kon Knueppel: 22 points, 4 reb, 2 ast
Egor Demin: 18 points, 11 assists, 4 reb, 4 steals

They both look like lottery picks to me.

I'm ready to concede that Tre Johnson will be way better than I was expecting. He won't be one of those nice complimentary players that averages 12 a night; he will be the best player for Texas. Should easily average north of 17+ ppg.

Tre Johnson is one of those risk/reward picks. He might end up being just another player averaging low double figures for Texas or he might end up being an All American. That's the type of guy you take a chance on late and I thought he'd go another round or two since he's not being talked about much. I really thought I could get him in the 9th round you sumbitch!

I was worried Texas might be a team full of chuckers with Tramon Mark, Jordan Pope, and Arthur Kaluma; I thought his shot attempts might be somewhat limited and he'd take on a Cody Williams type of role. And it still might be the case where everyone is looking for their shot rather trying to facilitate. But, Tre Johnson is clearly the most talented and he should get the most shots.

that's the problem my guy Edgecomb is gonna face in Baylor. Only one player looking to pass and that's the freshman PG who comes off the bench. The whole team is selfish chuckers. Edgecomb literally didn't touch the ball the first 8 minutes of the game.

Rob Wright is gonna be really good. Already a better facilitator than Roach.

Edgecombe had a rough game. But, he'll be fine. He's too talented to put up pedestrian numbers.

gonna be hard to put up numbers if he doesn't touch the ball. Roach was a big reason for that. best case scenario, they promote Wright to starting lineup and send Roach to the bench.

I know it was first game and on the road, but the lack of ball movement by Baylor was shocking. It was all one pass and then that guy goes 1v1.

^I was just about to mention him.

As good as a lot of these freshmen have been on opening night, nobody had a better 1st game of the season than Ryan Kalkbrenner.

Everyone feel free to post any interesting tweets or highlights about players on my team, too. It doesn’t just have to be injuries, either. I think Aidoo scored a couple games ago, there might be something about that somewhere.

I feel really dumb for not taking Kam Jones now. He looks like a 1st Team All-American. I was a little concerned about Marquette as team going into the season. They were around 300th in rebounding last year and lost their top 2 rebounders - and how do you even replace Ighodaro and Kolek? I worried they were going to be a sub-25 team, even though I knew Kam would put up monster numbers.

Don't think Marquette has much to worry about. They may not win the Big East, but they'll be a tough team to beat. They have one of the better backcourts in America, and they have a very stingy defense. Kam feels like an All-American lock at this point... it's just a matter of which team he's going to make.

The Big East may be the 4th best conference but I think they have three legit Final Four contenders in UConn, Creighton and Marquette. That will be a fun conference race to watch. Love that they play a round robin schedule still.

Kinda sucks seeing your heroes fail and realize they are human just like us. maybe next year DD.

I'll be alright. I may not win it all this year. But, I still think I'll have a shot. My four freshmen are all putting up really solid numbers so far.

Dylan Harper: 21.3 ppg, 4.7 reb, 3.7 ast, 1 stl, 0.7 blk
Egor Demin: 17.0 ppg, 7.5 ast, 2.3 stl, 0.8 blk
Boogie Fland: 16.5 ppg, 5 ast, 2.3 stl
Kon Knueppel: 14.8 ppg, 4 reb, 2.8 ast, 1 stl

I've also got the best player for Iowa State, Xavier, Ohio State, and St. John's - and the #2 scorer for UConn.

Those 3 look very strong... and I really like Xavier and St. John's, as well. There's probably a small gap between the top 3 and Xavier/St.John's. But, I think all 5 of those BE schools are top 25 teams.

Might be a strange year in the Big East between the top-tier teams and middling teams. Seton Hall, Butler, and Villanova all have suffered early season losses to mid-major foes.

I'm not sure Kyle Neptune makes it thru the season.

His seat is scorching hot. Inexcusable results. 4 straight Philadelphia Big 5 losses is incredibly embarrassing (they finally won one last night!).

Nova's team last year was plenty talented. Jay Wright would have had them as a top 4 seed in the NCAAs... Eric Dixon, TJ Bamba, Mark Armstrong, Justin Moore, Tyler Burton, Hakim Hart. Come on! You can't whiff on the NCAAs with those dudes. If he doesn't make the NCAA Tournament this year, which doesn't seem likely, then he'll be gone. But you might be right, he could easily be canned mid-season.

Remember when @dukedevilz crapped on my Lanier pick? Dude had 26 last night

I stand by my statement. He's too much of a one-dimensional player for me - similar to Jaxon Robinson. I think both players are worthy of being drafted, but Jaxon Robinson isn't a 2nd round grade, IMO. And Chaz Lanier isn't a 5th ground grade. I see both as being 3rd Team All-Conference / HM All-Conference types.

I wondered when someone would take him. Dude oozes potential. I just have no idea who is going to be Illinois' alpha this year. I feel like they have 7 different guys who could lead them in scoring. @Jaycg15, what the hell is going to happen with your Illini?
A lot of talent, but they’re all young. I like Will Riley to lead in scoring. KJ will be a primary scoring option too, but he will have games where he defers to others and distributes. Ivisic is solid too, but I don’t think he’ll be more than an honorable mention.

Just don’t cheat me when he turns out to be at least second team. I want my points.
