7th Annual College Basketball Draft

I’d like to thank FSU for being meh enough for the last few years that I was forced to watch other teams and also was only blinded by loyalty on one pick. I’d like to thank my wife for letting me watch lots of ball while she paints her fingernails and shops on the couch. Shout out to @dukedevilz for the great lists he drops in the thread to start the draft. And a final thank you to @lurkeraspect84 for picking all the shitty players before I could.

Of course, my wife still kicked my ass per usual in our NCAAt brackets.

So, you got 3rd place?

That's funny, my JV team, players that were entirely undrafted, outscored your team 66.8 to 64.4.

Tristen Newton- 16.2
Tamin Lipsey- 11.5
J'Wan Roberts- 7.5
Tristan Enaruna- 7.4
Coleman Hawkins- 6.6
AJ Storr- 6.2
Rayshon Harrison- 5.0
Tyler Burton- 3.2
Demarcus Sharp-3.2

Hard to believe we all passed on Newton 12 times. Wow.

20.5 is a monster number for Edey. Is that the best number in our league ever?

Seriously! He could have vaulted most teams up a couple places. I had him on my JV team. Thought about him in the latter rounds; I ended up balking because I didn't know if he was going to be their #1 option or their #5 option. Also, thought about Alex Karaban a bit, too.

It's a huge number! He had almost 5 more additional points than the next most productive player this season. And he broke his own record from the previous season. Here are the top 10 players for most points in a season (began in 2017-18).

1. Zach Edey, Purdue- 20.5 (2023-24)
2. Zach Edey, Purdue- 18.8 (2022-23)
3. Zion Williamson, Duke- 18.3 (2018-19)
4. Oscar Tshiebwe, Kentucky- 18.0 (2021-22)
5. Jalen Brunson, Villanova- 17.7 (2017-18)
5. Keegan Murray, Iowa- 17.7 (2021-22)
7. Ja Morant, Murray State- 17.2 (2018-19)
8. Luka Garza, Iowa- 16.9 (2020-21)
8. Grant Williams, Tennessee- 16.9 (2018-19)
10. Obi Toppin, Dayton - 16.8 (2019-20)
10. Cassius Winston, Michigan State- 16.8 (2018-19)

Figured it had to be tops.

And Wow, 18-19 had a lot of big numbers.

2019 was a phenomenal year for college basketball. Looking back at the past 20 years, I'd put it right up there with 2008 and 2015. Multiple elite, elite players and teams in each of those seasons.
