*Official* 2017-2018 B1G In-Season Thread

We're becoming an increasingly ivory tower society. The gymnastics deal was disgusting and I haven't seen any Sparty fan try defending them on the handling of that. To expect Izzo to publicly blast his boss is unreasonable. The two specific incidents regarding MSU hoops haven't produced anything tangible as to Izzo doing anything wrong. Anything outside of that is assuming facts not yet available.
Great post

You know what Im 100% in the right and the rape and sexual assault apologists are 100% wrong but it was wrong of me to bring it up in this thread because this thread will be ruined by it. So I wont continue discussing it here.
Please point out one thing to show that Tom Izzo covered up a rape. Thanks

Hoping the Illini can pull one out for us and beat PSU. IU still has their own work cut out for them the rest of the year, but post season play isn't out of the question yet. If we can get three more wins out of our remaining four, maybe one or two in the B10 tourney, we will be right there. IPFW and ISU losses really, really hurt us though.

Im not some random online SJW. I make and laugh at dirty inappropriate jokes. Im not just randomly taking up some stance here just because.

Someone very close to me suffered through an incident where she was assaulted. Although it didnt involve athletics on a college campus, it was a situation where power and influence(and there was even more to it. A girl had made an allegation against the guy and recanted it later abd admitted she made it up)made her very afraid to come forward.

Seeing the Adrien Payne video has had me triggered ever since. Ive typically done a good job of keeping this stuff contained to the threads they should be contained to, but watching Purdue lose to that athletic program with their evil was just too much. Hearing Izzo turn this around and make himself a victim every time enrages me.

You know for years all the Purdue boards would insinuate theres something dirty about Izzo and I was always the one who lold at them and stuck up for him and look how silly I look now. What happened under his watch and then the way he handled it has made me realize he really is just a piece of shit on the level of JoePa.

I’m very sorry about what happened, but what has Izzo done. He has purposefully not said anything. How is he turning it around. He isn’t involved with the Payne incident. That’s our athletic departments fault, not his.

You think Purdue drops one spot after losing two games this week and still have them ahead of MSU? Uh, sure...

Yes, because I compared resumes. Feel free to compare resumes and tell me why MSU should be in front of Purdue. The committee has consistently stated they look at resume and not just head to head.

BTW, I guess I'm not alone:

It's not out of the realm of possibility to have Purdue higher than Michigan State.

The Boilers have a stronger resume, but I would place MSU higher at the moment (by a sliver)

Oh yea the Nojoel over PJ thread was like fishing with dynamite. You knew she was going to be all over that thread.

“I’m not biased I played basketball at the highest level since you no so much. I no what my son does in every practice and he’s earning his opportunities not bcuz he is a freshman bcuz of what he does in practice I no who and what my son can do on that court. I have no problem yougiving your opinion but b4 you put statsout there get your facts right period. He’saballer”

Embarrassing for the kid

Lol. Ok buddy. Again, you lost two games this week, one at home. But, please don't let that get in your way.

So, you looked at the resumes and didn't come up with anything then? I know we lost twice this week. That is factored into the resume review that I did. And Lunardi did. And Eisenberg did.

What is the point of the committee releasing this list so early? There's so much that will sort itself out over the next couple weeks that it seems completely pointless.
I think the argument is to provide some transparency into the process but I think it doesn't really do a good job of that.

I’d put MSU ahead by a bit. 1. MSU has 3 loses, Purdue four.2. MSU hasn’t lost since early January, Purdue just lost 2 in a row. 3. Head to head win over Purdue.
Purdue has better wins, so that’s why I pick MSU by a very slim margin

Yup. I actually would drop Purdue by a few more spots because they lost two in a row.

That is not what I am saying.

Fran is probably doing the best he can given the deck of cards in his hands.

Iowa is not going back to what it was under Lute or Davis. It will continue to look similar to the Alford era as time rolls on.
I will take that bet, this years team was hit a key loss 1 week before the season began in PG 6'6 Williams who was a better defender than he was a scorer.

what this means Fran could have played Williams at the point and slid Bohannon to the 2. this in turn would have let Moss play the 3, which is where he played while Jok played the 2.

Ellingson was forced to be the backup PG. he did the best he could but just is not a PG.

then Baer broke a finger on his shooting hand putting him the bench for the 1st 6 games.
PG Connor who was going to RS to play Baseball in 2018, suffered a ankle injury, then Mono put him into the hospital and Finally tonsils finished his season.

injuries to other players derailed the season. the silver lining in this is that these have stepped in.
FR Garza 3rd on the team in scoring 2nd in rebounding and leads the team in blocks
FR Nunge 6th in scoring, 2nd in blocks 2nd in steals.

Dailey is adjusting to his new role as the backup PG. but like Moss is to inconsistent on his scoring

Moss is 4th in scoring while Dailey is 7th in scoring.

to make this real simple in the 18-19 season barring any more injuries. Fran will have these to work with
#1 scorer in Cook @ 15+ ppg #1 rebounder
#2 scorer in Bohannon @ 13+ ppg #1 in assists
#3 scorer in Garza @ 11 ppg #2 in rebounding and #1 in blocked shots
#4 scorer in Moss @ 10+ ppg
#5 scorer in Pemsl @ 7 ppg
#6 scorer in Nunge @ 6+ ppg, 2nd in blocks and steals
#7 Dailey @ 6+ ppg
#8 Baer @ 6+ ppg
after that it goes down
this brings us to 6'6 Wieskamp, who can play the 2 or 3 he is a top 50 4* by two sites and #69 by ESPN.

it is my opinion he will start at the 2 and Moss will start at the 3.

yes this team is getting to the point that it was under both Lute and Dr. Tom.

Oh, well if Dailey and Baer are averaging 6 ppg then I guess you got a point there Giligan.

Wieskamp reminds me of Bobby Hansen that played for Lute just like Garza and Nunge remind me of Special K and Waite.
Cook reminds me of Horton who played for Davis. neither coach had a team full of 5* 1 n done players. nor does Fran but people expect Fran's player to play like 5* players.

Purdue could’ve got blown away by Baylor on the road or lost to St. John’s at home, but they lost on the last possession in both games (that could’ve gone either way) by two very good teams. Put the IU bias aside & take a seat. Save your opinions about Purdue this year and stick to NIT bracketology please.

They lost TWICE this week. You’re going to put them over MSU? Nope. Not at this point. It could end up that way depending on how the rest of the B10 regular season shakes out. Assuming both win out, I would say it’s whoever wins the B10 Tourney. If neither do, I would say neither get a 1 seed. Put your Purdue bias aside and take a seat.

I’d put Virginia, Villanova, MSU, Xavier and Cincy ahead of them right now given the week they had.

Just saw on Reddit that yesterday was Purdue's first top 5 matchup in 30 years. It was Michigan States third this season...

That stat is hard to believe.

The fact they have never been ranked number 1 in the country still blows my mind. Some solid teams and great players throughout the years

I’d assume it’s just bias against Purdue for not ranking them higher in a handful of those years. Lol.

getting Nunge out of Indiana who was the runnerup in the voting for Indiana Mr. BB and was a two time 1st team all Stater.

You keep saying this as if IU, Purdue, or ND recruited Nunge. None of them offered. Did Butler? Now the kid may end up being a nice college basketball player, but your narrative that he was this great Indiana prospect is completely wrong. Iowa stole him from Evansville and Ball St, not the power 5 schools.

then JJJ and Ward getting called for ticky tacky stuff is a joke. If those two guys play any minutes at all this game isnt even close.
Jackson is always in foul trouble. Yesterday was not some abnormal thing. He wasn't even playing well, so I wouldn't have minded him being out there longer.

There is no poll after the tournament or atleast they didn’t start doing that until recently.

Human polls are useless as is but the post tournament poll seems especially useless since we just watched the championship play out. No need for someone to tell us the #1 team at that point.

I just saw a stat that Isaac Haas attempted 22 shots yesterday but only attempted one free throw.

If that is true, that is a hilariously absurd stat.

And don’t get me wrong being on the Indiana all-star team is a great accomplishment but it isn’t something that should be used to brag about a recruit/player

Grant Gelon was an Indiana All Star
