I think the biggest keys will be the battle of the boards (both top 5 in rebounding margin) and transition play. For the Cats to have a good chance I think they need to make UNC play half court offense, limit those easy transition buckets. That will be dictated on the glass. A concern for me is that Utah (a middle-of-the-pack rebounding team) outrebounded UK by 8, while UNC doubled up Gonzaga on the glass.
Speaking of of this....Never understood the "dooms day " feel of some UK fans; especially over on Rupps. If history has told us anyting, Cal's teams always get better. I suspect the same again. I mean sure, maybe sooner or later, it won't happen. And maybe thats this year. But I sure as hell wouldn't bet against it. But more than anything, these upcoming games vs UNC/UL are probably more important confidence wise, more than anything. Go 0-2, and well, who knows. 1-1 IMO would be a "win". 2-0 probably gets this group going. 0-2?? Eeek.
Agree. History has shown, during Calipari years, regular season means little. 8 seed against an undefeated team makes the finals. I've accepted this line of thinking and it helps shrug off these really mean things said about us early in the season.
It might be harder to beat Louisville since Pitino is gone. Cal loved beating Rick.

It's true. There's a lot of fans that can't stomach having young teams every year. They love the results, just not the process.
Biggest issue with this season was that most UK fans thought they got to bypass the learning curve this year, just like 14-15, after seeing them put on a show in August. Now, they have to adjust their expectations to a "typical" Cal team, and it's not an easy pill to swallow when you spend the offseason talking about how great it's going to be to be able to play the regional at home in Louisville.
I feel much better, however it will be a true road game...well semi road game.
If I would’ve just seen yesterday’s scores I’d probably change my earlier prediction, but Kentucky won because they didn’t stink as bad as Carolina. We aren’t a great team, but Kentucky definitely isn’t either, and we’re at home. This will start the Mack dominance of Calipari. Winking
Technically Seton Hall beat us with one guy, but he hit about a gazillion circus threes to do it. UL doesn't have a guy capable of mimicking Powell's performance and UK looks to be defending the outside shot better.

Kenpom is saying that their records would flip if their schedules flipped. Florida's losses are to 6, 16, 24, 29. The best team Buffalo has played is 30 and they lost that game. AP rankings are based on resume, Kenpom is looking more for how good a team actually is.
Now now Hail, you should know better than to bring actual facts into a Louisville fan agenda thread.
They live to hate on UK and ignore actual facts (and the state of their program) while trying to belittle UK's accomplishments.
It's just weird how fans of a commuter school, that is such a dumpster fire, spend so much time trying to put down a program of UK's stature. It comes off as obsessive.
That was quite a run to the USL Cup for LC this season. I'm a Cincinnati fan though, so it sucked. Looking forward to them making their MLS debut though.
