7th Annual College Basketball Draft

sorry if my picks are crap, just not feeling this this year. Between work being super busy, the stress of my dad dying last month and now what is happening to my people in Israel I'm just having a hard time caring enough to put maximum effort into this right now.

Very rough month. Condolences for your father. And the Israel stuff is messed up and scary. Hope things will settle down there where people can live peacefully.

FWIW, I think you had 2 solid picks. Buie and Ballo were both 1st Team All-Conference picks last year, IIRC. And Ballo would be my pick for Pac-12 preseason POY.

I forgot the angst of desperately wanting a specific player, but wanting to wait as long as possible to draft them

Yes! Trying to gauge what value a player has by other posters is difficult. I mean, why draft him in round 3if he's still likely around in round 5?

I thought I could snag Kris Murray in Round 3 last year. Wasn't ranked in the top 30 by any services. Nope. Just 1 pick away from getting him. Should have gotten him in Round 2. I earmarked Brandon Miller for Round 4 last year because he wasn't a top 10 recruit. But, I knew he was blowing up in the summer. Was just hoping others weren't paying attention to those details; I was fortunate to get him in Round 4. I was probably pushing the envelope for how far I could have waited.

Lots of strategy goes into this. Risk/Reward is definitely a major element.

Whoops. Didn’t see it was my turn yesterday. I’ll get a pick in this AM.

Trey Alexander

@boilerzz you’re up.

Love Trey Alexander. One of my favorite players. I'll be curious to see how Alexander and Steven Ashworth work together. I'd kind of like to see Ashworth play off the ball more because he's such a dynamic shooter. Alexander can comfortably handle point guard duties as we saw when Nembhard went out late in the 2022 season.

Big East is loaded this year with talent. Already 5 guys taken: Kolek, Kalkbrenner, Clingan, Soriano, Alexander. And honestly, I think there are two more Big East guys that merit 2nd Round draft grades. Could easily have 4-5 All-Americans from that conference.

Hang in there, brother. My dad died August 8th. Both ours are up there getting ready for the season. This board is family and family has each others backs.

I have my next two picked out, I really hope you all don't pick them. Judging by my first two picks, you won't.

I'll take Tyrese Proctor. @GE Nole is up.

All the talent in the world. Hopefully that will materialize this season.

My boy Johnell Davis, FAU.

@duckboy33 youre up.

He's solid. And I think most are forgetting that FAU is now in the American Athletic. Not a guarantee, but there's a great chance they'll have 4 teams in the top 100, meaning 1st Team All-Conference for someone like Davis is now worth 3 points, instead of 2.

Lost my father on Sept 15th---No doubt he's supplying the weed. ;)

This could be a huge reach, but I really think he’s going to have a huge year. Judah Mintz, Syracuse

@dukedevilz you are up

He was #4 on my best available players. I like him. Cuse is going to play fast-paced this season, so wouldn't be all that surprising if he averages 20+ ppg. Just a matter of how good Cuse will be.

Not too many power schools have a floor and ceiling with a wider range than Syracuse. I could see them being top 15, but could also see them missing the tournament.

Got two guys I'd really like to draft right now. Little chance either one will be available in Round 4, almost 20 picks later, so I'll go with the player I enjoy watching more...

Aidan Mahaney, Saint Mary's

Damn you both. I was hoping to get one of Holmes or Mahoney. I almost took Holmes instead of Procter.

I was down between him and Johnell. If Moore is fully recovered, he should have a big year.

I was going to take him if he came back around. I knew it was a long shot but had my fingers crossed.

Heard Justin Moore is back to his 2022 form, which could be promising. And Nova's top 5-6 players look the part of a top 10 team, IMO. Moore-Dixon return - and 3 really solid transfers in TJ Bamba, Tyler Burton, and Hakim Hart. Nova definitely has the chips to win 25+ games this year.

Downside is the Big East is so loaded with individual talent; there will be some really talented players left off the 1st Team.
