Which Rivalry Is the Most Contentious Between Fans?

I can't find any information on it. I checked the Champions Classic 2019 as well but we're playing MSU. Its been too good of series to be dropped. I know there's talk to bring IU back on the schedule. So I think there may be some logistics to resolve.

I can't imagine UNC sending a contract and going unsigned. I would think UK would have already agreed to it before the contract was sent. But then again it may be date conflicts etc. that need to be ironed out.

UNC) wanted to take two years off because of that" event, Calipari said. "We couldn't take one year off, because it screws up our schedule, and you won't believe this: This is all based on what we need. Don't care about anybody else. You don't want to play us, listen, don't play us. So they take two years off; we'll plug in UCLA for two years. North Carolina has already sent us a contract for after those two years.

So you guys hate Tennessee, Indiana, UNC, Duke, Louisville, and sometimes Florida.

I'm starting to think it is more about UK fans and not the other schools... ;)
I don’t root for any other school but living on the Tennessee line has put the hate for orange in my blood.

I don’t really hate Florida

Are you insinuating that IU can't also get another high profile game? Both Kansas and UL said they'd like to get a home and home with IU once ky series was dropped. Unfortunately, Crean was too much of a pussy to schedule Kansas and only scheduled UL because of the internal pressure to schedule UL.

I do agree with you though about being glad the game is done being played! I do miss having the game that Saturday in December every year. But that's because Crean replaced UK with sub 300 ranked teams. Fortunately, its looking like Miller is serious about increasing the challenges on the schedule and that's no longer an issue.

But, if you're thinking that IU needed the series so much more than UK....you're being delusional! I'm not going to act like the product IU has been putting on the court has been equal to UK, but the IU brand still carries a big stick. And to say anything else is being extremely delusional!

"Are you insinuating that IU can't also get another high profile game?"

Exactly. I am not insinuating that I am stating that. The series ended in December 2011. Indiana has not found a good replacement since. When did IU start playing Louisville? Last year? When will they start a home and home with Kansas?

Kentucky in the meanwhile plays Kansas, UNC, Duke, UCLA et.al. and Indiana ain't played shit. Maybe you are the one with extreme delusion. Crean messed his pants and Indiana is still paying for it.

You're crazy dude....learn what you're talking about first. You won't look nearly as silly!

1st. I believe the Louisville series has been going on for 3 seasons...not last year. And Pitino was on record the whole time wanting to play the series. That's actually the only reason why it ever happened. Crean couldn't keep hiding from it when Pitino was publicly saying he wanted to play it.

2nd. Not sure why you're not grasping how weak Crean wanted the schedule to be. The ONLY reason why we didn't immediately have both Kansas and Louisville on the schedule the following year was because he wanted to only play sub 200 teams. They literally both asked about starting up a series the following year.

3rd. IU was one of the original 4 teams that they wanted in the champions classic (think that the name?) that UK is playing in. The ONLY reason they didn't play in it was because the the year before was when they started playing in the crossroads classic on that exact same day.

Lol so stop being delusional here bud. If you truly believe that Indiana still cant pull it's own weight when it comes to support and revenue...just check to see where they stand each year in revenue brought in! I'm not arguing with you about if the product placed on the court was the same..because it wasn't. But, if you truly think that IU was this desperate school that needed the UK game.....you're seriously flipping crazy!

Indiana was wanted in the Champions Classic? I don’t ever remember hearing that but it started a long time ago. You got a link?

I apologize ,it was the CBS sports classic that UK and UCLA is playing in.

Stupid Crean. I would much rather see IU in the CBS Classic than Ohio State.

I love to blame Crean for everything possible, but this wasn't really him from my understanding. It actually had more to do with Purdue, Notre dame and Butler then anything else. IU brings the overwhelming majority of fans to this event, so if IU backs out....the whole thing is done for. Its been awhile, so I might be wrong, but I don't think the buyout of the contract wasn't any crazy amount. But, if IU would have pulled out 2nd year in....every radio guy, TV sports guy and every fan of all 3 schools would have tried to kill IU for walking away. It would have been a PR nightmare within the state.

Hell, there's already been a lot of screaming amytime theres any talk about IU not resigning a new contract because it literally makes zero sense for IU.

This sounds snobbish, but it's the truth.... currently, IU brings 70 to 80% of the gate admissions and the national TV coverage, but only gets 25% of money. If they weren't handcuffed to this event they could schedule a game with the Kansas or Arizona's of the world and make a hell of a lot more then the 25% their getting now. It's a phenomenal event for the fans within the state, but a horrible financial situation for IU.

Yeah, IU needs to drop that garbage. ND, Purdue, and Butler just trying to poach money and exposure. Kick those leeches to the curb. It's dumb anyway since they don't even play Purdue in the classic since both already play in conference play, so ND and Butler don't play either. What's the point of even doing it? They'd be much better off scheduling their own neutral site or home-and-home with ND and Butler.

You realize Duke and UNC are 8 miles apart, right?

His point is probably that the state supports UNC more than Duke, and Duke fans are more spread out. Not sure if that is as true as he might think, but it is true to an extent.

But yeah, when you talk proximity, it's hard to beat UNC/Duke.

Don’t let them fool you. 80% of the state of Ky are UK fans, especially outside of the city of Louisville.

Yup, true story. Louisville is really close to 50/50, I might give the slight edge to Louisville fans. But outside Jefferson County, 9 out of 10 college fans are for UK.

Hey @KYtotheCore , how's THAT for contentious?

One of the funniest smart guys around. Man, used to watch the Daily Show when I went to bed, years and years ago, and it was Stewart with Colbert and Carrell as his two sidekicks... it was f'ing amazing, and looking back, you get why.

And the Ambiguously Gay Duo is awesome as well.

Jace does not know who he is insulting.

He actually believes that UK needed the Indiana series.

Um....please tell me where I ever said that UK needed the series? (A lack of reading comprehension is a major problem in our country, so you're not alone). Of course they didn't need it. My argument is because you're acting like IU desperately needed the series because they cant get anyone to play them. It's the typical attitude that so many UK fans have...that When UK signs a contract with anyone else, it somehow blesses that university. Believe it or not, but there are a whole bunch of schools that doesn't need UK....and IU is one of them!

My vote has to be for Michigan and Ohio St. Why? Because it's the only two states that almost declared war with one another.

For basketball? Purdue and Indiana is more contentious than that game. Don't think anyone outside of those two schools even cares about that game in basketball.
