Oscar Tshiebwe...

Why in the world is this Illinois fan chirping in? You're not even remotely part of the conversation.

Funny to see the UK sources saying what our sources were saying about Oscar feeling resentment for being pushed to WV and him pushing back against that. Same thing happened with Francis Okoro. Seeing some similarities in that recruitment. Think the kid wants to make his own decision here despite all of the pressure to go to WV.

We’ve actually beaten wvu 3 times since the 2010 E8. We beat them in the 2nd round in a 4/5 matchup the next season.

Who else has been recruiting Tshiebwe besides uk, Kentucky and Illinois?

The official visits are completed and now all that is left is the decision for five-star center Oscar Tshiebwe. The 6-foot-9, 250-pound Kennedy Catholic (Hermitage, Pa.) star, born in Congo, returned home from his official West Virginia visit on Monday and will make a final decision in 7-10 days, his coach Tom Droney told KSR.

A decision date in that 7-10 day window will be decided on after this weekend.

WVU is the heavy favorite in Tshiebwe’s Crystal Ball logging 90 percent of the picks, but UK is thought to be right there with West Virginia. The Mountaineers have been recruiting Tshiebwe for years, but we’ve been told that Tshiebwe is impressed by UK’s pitch and track record with bigs. In what seems to be a head vs. heart decision for Tshiebwe, WVU continued to work on strengthening that bond over the weekend.

“Oscar had a good, productive visit at WVU,” Droney said. “He has obviously been to campus many times but this was his first time getting a tour of the campus, seeing school buildings, and getting to spend more time with the team away from the basketball facilities.

“He’s going to make his decision in 7-10 days and now he is weighing the pros and cons of all his options.”

Tshiebwe is also considering Baylor and Illinois, but those two schools are longshots to land a commitment from the bruising center.

Droney said coaches will be permitted to get in final pitches this week, so don’t be surprised to hear of coaching staffs from all four schools coming and visiting Tshiebwe one final time. John Calipari has already visited a couple times.

Droney told KSR last month that he believed WVU was the leader (before his visit to UK) but it’s unclear where things stand now.

“I don’t think there is a leader at this junction,” he said.

Nobody else was ever really in it for oscar

Uk was the only other one with any shot and they went about his recruitment all wrong.
Congrats doogie, WVa is getting a stud. I don't mind it, Huggs will turn this kid into a great player. Can't wait to see Oscar go up against legit college competition. The high tempo style that Huggs runs will really highlight Oscar's game.

I’d bet WVU. Having said that, not sure the recruiting analysts “know” anything

I still say Oscar is a lock, but the last time I was congratulated by UK fans, WVU was up by 20 with out about 14 minutes to go in the 2nd half. We all know how that ended for me. Sick

For starters they just waited way too late. It's like they watched the recruiting rankings and waited until he was a 5 star to take him serious. They can afford to do this with most recruits because of their brand, but names like Calipari, Kentucky and Blue Blood don't mean anything to him.

But most importantly they tried to sell him on the spectacle that is UK hoops in Lexington. fans, night life, etc. Better off keeping it simple with Oscar. He's more into a family atmosphere and the closeness of the players and coaches. Not a partier. Just wants to hoop and keep to himself.

Ha ha, yeah that's usually how that works isn't it?
I promise, I wasn't trying to put the ole hex on this, it's looking like he's going to be a mountaneer and I don't think there's anything Cal can do about it.

I don’t buy this at all.

I strongly doubt calipari is pitching the Lexington night life to anyone.

Calipari usually states outright that Kentucky basketball isn’t right for everyone. Likely pitched NBA, facilities, playing with best players, etc. I’ve never in my life heard him promote the spectacle of UK basketball. That sounds more like something an opposing coach or fan would say to a player if recruiting against UK.

You've never seen him promote the spectacle of UK basketball? Ever been to Big Blue Madness? Didn't he have his players introduced by being dropped from the ceiling while dancing one year? Laughing

Inviting guys like Drake and other celebs around the program. All that stuff isn't what Oscar T is into.

And I'm not saying Cal sat there and tried to sell him on night life in Lexington. Just heard some of the players who hosted him were trying to get him to party. That's not what he was looking for on his visit.

Don't recall this.

That doesn't seem like anything I've read about this team. I've actually read the opposite. They (mostly),only go out at night to the Craft Center. I'm open to any links that suggest otherwise.

I'm sure Oscar will end up at WVU, but let's not spread false rumors.

...the envy is obvious....do they even have a similar 'midnight madness' event at WVU?
