*Official* 2017-2018 B1G In-Season Thread

Would you trade Michigan's recent history with Iowa's?
nope.
going from losing seasons like these before he was hired
19 losses
16 losses
22 losses
with what Fran had to work with in his 1st 6 seasons when he only had 2 4* recruits
1st season finished 10th @ 4-14
2nd season finished in 7th with a 8-10 season
3rd season finished 6th with a 9-9 season dominated by FR
4th season 6th 9-9 SO leaders
5th season 3rd 12-6 JR leaders
6th season 3rd 12-6 SR leaders
7th season 5th 10-8 1 SR leader with 4 FR
8th season to be decided, O [ZERO] senior leadership
Fran has done just Fine,
how many SR starters does Michigan have as I know that PURDUE has 4 senior starters.

You wouldn't trade those seasons for Michigan's success? Michigan made the National Championship game in 12/13, the Elite 8 in 13/14, the S16 in 16/17, won the conference 11/12, 13/14, and conference tournament in 16/17.

Simpson will be a junior. Matthews looked really good early on but has a lot of flaws offensively. I think there is a realistic chance of him not starting next year.

We really need Wagner to return because I don't like Teske getting 25 minutes and I really don't have confidence in Teske's backups for next year.
Is Wagner n any draft boards?

That simulator uses Sargain. I do not think IU is going to lose their last three games of the season. I do enjoy using that simulator every year to see how things can play out. IU might even be favored at Iowa come that time and I think IU will give Ohio State all they can handle on senior night.
I'm not overly confident we win all three. I think we could go 2-1. Just dont think we win at Nebraska. But IMO, @ Iowa, and vs OSU are very winnable games.

Historically they are. But the last 5 years of Keady was pretty bad. Not sure how you can disagree.
Purdue is in a state loaded with talent and Keady still had the draw, as well as the name for a school in Purdue

this vs Iowa that only produce 1 maybe at most 2 in any given TOP 100 players and very rarely a top 50 recruit AND then there is ISU that Fran was/is recruiting against in state. Fran has to go out of state to get his players to compete in the BT,

REMEMBER the 11 years before he was hired Iowa had fallen hard and was no longer being talked about like Iowa under Lute and Dr. Tom when they were a constant fixture in the NCAAT
going 16 times in 20 seasons.

Fran has had to rebuild this team and restore Iowa's image to recruits
Getting these is a good step in that direction
Cook top 40 by ESPN
Garza Gatorade POY top 100 by ESPN out of the DC area
Nunge out of Indiana 2 time 1st teamer in their largest class 4A.
Fleming out of Oak Hill Academy despite his leaving.
Moss out of Simeon HS in Chicago who most thought that Iowa had no chance of ever getting another player out of Chicago,

getting players from these area's again is the right step in the direction moving forward,

some say Defense starts with SR leadership, Iowa has none. next season these will be the Seniors
Baer Iowa 6th man
Wagner
Ellingson Iowa's sharpshooter from 3.

Baer will be that key VOCAL senior coming off the bench

Hoosiers now a top 50 defense. Who would have thunk it
Just think whe we get an offense to with that defense....Miller has basocally taken an awful dfensive team and turned them into one of the Big 19's best, in 4 months. Amazing.

Man is the future really bright.

Iowa isn’t very good and neither is Fran.

I remember being surprised.
before spouting off about being superior wait until Painter actually holds the series lead over Iowa, Kinda like Michigan, they had not beat Iowa under Fran since 2013 and had not swept Iowa since the 10-11 season when Iowa 4-14 in Fran's 1st season.

You really struggle with reading comprehension.

Frank the Tank getting his garb retired three years after leaving school.

A function of two things....

- being a great player
- a school having no relevant players in their history

Frank would get his garb retired about five years from now if he went to MSU/Ind/OSU etc......

This reminds me of that DirectTV commercial....

Some people like seeing their team blown out in the NCAA

(Cut to Gil going wild watching Nova dunk on Iowa again)

yeah that was real terrible loss losing as a 7 seed to a 2 SEED that won the NCAAT.

Per CBS Sports:
Report: FBI probe could affect top coaches, players and 'almost half' of top 16 seeds.
This goes a lot deeper in college basketball than four corrupt assistant coaches," a source briefed on the details of the case told Yahoo Sports. "When this all comes out, Hall of Fame coaches should be scared, lottery picks won't be eligible to play and almost half of the 16 teams the NCAA showed on its initial NCAA tournament show this weekend should worry about their appearance being vacated.

So you're telling me the bubble is going to be even softer, so Maryland still has a chance to make the tourney.

That of course all hinges on a certain Mr. Stone not implicating Maryland in this.
