*Official* 2017-2018 B1G In-Season Thread

have you not seen Green of late? Seems to finally be buying into Miller. Indiana returns four starters. Purdue loses four. Our class is better. And arguably is the best word to say Carsen is/will be the best player(in the conference). Juwan may have something to say about that.

Durham is just a freshman. Has had moments were you can see the potential. McRoberts is a great utility guy. And just happens to lead the Big 10 in steals. Green has just gotten better and better. Smith is going to be really good.

I'll take IU over Purdue next year ALL DAY long.

The same things you said about Durham can be said about Eastern. Not sure why you forgot to mention Haarms. He has a chance to be special.

Wildcards for next year are probably Aaron Wheeler coming off a redshirt and Eric Hunter as a true freshman. If they’re legit, Purdue can be good.

what level does Northern Kentucky play at again.

didn't even know there was a Northern Kentucky School.
Iowa is currently #242 in defensive efficiency. Northern Kentucky is #86.

It’s much more surprising he did it against NKU than Iowa.

I didn't mention Haarms b/c aside from blocking shots, he hasn't really shown much. He has tapered off as the season has went along. He does have a chance to be good.

Again, Boiler. You guys lose FOUR starters. We return FOUR starters. I'm not sure you realize just how big of a loss Mathias, PJ, Haas and Vince are going to be.

So will Indiana and if you add Romeo I expect a top 3 finish.

Still think a starting backcourt of Winston and Langford will be very good next year and if Ward is back (almost a sure thing he will be) MSU will have two pretty good front court players. McQaid/Goins off the bench with a bunch of frosh. I can’t put MSU lower than 3 for next year as of now.

Agreed

IU will be much better than 7th. I like though how IU loses just Newkirk, McSwain and Johnson. Purdue loses Haas, Thompson, Vince, and Mathias. Yet you have them above IU?

Indiana returns: Green, Davis, Morgan, McRoberts, Durham and Smith. In other words, 6 of their top 9. Bring in a very good class with Hunter, Anderson, Thompson and Phinisee. Possibly Langford. Purdue returns Cline and Carsen Edwards.

Ok.

Without Langford, I see no worse than Top 4. With him? I think they win the conference.

Hot take

Yeah hard to put MSU out of the top 3 IMO. I think Michigan and MSU will be top 3 rosters next year.

Im thoroughly enjoying that we are already arguing about next year. Fvck the rest of this year, final nail went in the coffin last night.
I barely put any thought in to it as I stated. Don't know why everyone has to be so offended. I'm sure it'll change in offseason.

Charles Matthews in 2018/2019 will be better than Irvin amirite

Steven Bardo said before the Wisconsin at Illinois game on the B1G Show that the last team big ten coaches wanted to face right now was Illinois. Guy is painful in the studio.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with him being an alum.

Iowa is missing that 5th starter,
Nunge is not that piece, as he scored 18 vs OSU then started at the 3 tonight, in 12 minutes scored 0 points, 1 assist, 1 rebound and 1 Block.
Baer is the solid 6th man
Wagner is a backup only.

this is where Wieskamp will make a big difference, as he will be that 5th starter that is missing

its to bad Williams left when he did as he would have been a very good defensive PG that would have allowed Bohannon to 2 while Moss could have played at the 3,, at times.
this is where Connor getting ill and injured killed Iowa as he too would have played the PG while Bohannon played the 2 with Moss playing the 3.

this season has shown that Iowa needs 5 solid starters and not 4 with 3 players being the 6th man at the 3.
Nunge out grew the 3 and into a 4/5
Wagner is a solid defensive 3 with no offensive game,
Baer is what he is and that is a 6th Man
both Nunge and Garza should use the summer and fall to put on some muscle weight in the 10 lb range.
Cook needs to improve his FT shooting and stretch his outside shot out past arc to where he is hitting 35% or better. Cook is already being more aggressive in his rebounding.
Pemsl is already improving his inside game and just needs to keep improving his distance
Kriener just needs to avoid the concussions that have plagued him.

do that and the team should be back in the hunt for another NCAAT bid with a 20+ win season.
