Interesting....

Zion was smart enough to know that the long term financial advantages of joining #TheBrotherhood outweighed the up front cash payment clearly.

Also if Nike execs bribed Zion and his family and "steered" him to go to their flagship school Duke and no one on the Duke side is aware of this the school isn't culpable.
Just like KU and their situation. As a KU fan, I know we absolutely play the game.

It’s like saying a 16 year old kid doesn’t play with his teenage dick.

It’s pretty clear that everyone recruiting Zion was aware of his family’s demands (which were massive).

I mean, is it possible that K and his staff were the only ones oblivious to the situation, or that they overcame a massive bidding war to land him for nothing? Yeah, sure, I guess so…

On second thought….no. No, it isn’t. 🤣
What were all these demands. Specific please.

0/10.

Nothing but a tired stereotype from you. What I said is backed up by what we see in any televised dookie home game.
You mean 1500 future doctors and lawyers. Are you saying Duke students are the only ones who dress up. No UK fans or students.

Btw, my stereotype is backed up as well.

House, job, cash.

But these demands were only for KU, of course. Being part of the Brotherhood is all the compensation anyone could ask for.

Do you have emails or texts or recordings to prove this? Do they mention Duke? If you do you should send them to the NCAA.

Where did his stepdad work while in Durham? Any pics of them going into the supposed house? Not pics of house. The family going in and out. Any pics of them in the cars?

You think a State or UNC fan or sleuth could not or would not do that?

Common Sense. Logic.

Again, provide proof and I will say I am wrong.

I believe Nike was pushing kids to Duke one way or the other. But i’ll also say it’s much more believable to me that a kid would choose to play for Duke for free because of everything else they offer over Kansas offering a few hundred grand and house.

i’ve even said this on the kentucky boards much to the HoB homers chagrin, Duke basketball has more to sell than any other program in the sport. They can sell basketball success both short and long term and they also sell something a lot of other college basketball progrmas can’t. Status. Private school with an outstanding academic reputation.

Academic reputation is no doubt the top priority for every athlete intending to spend 9 months in college. 🤣

Not sure which paragraph is funnier. I suppose you think Kentucky is the only big program that does it the right way?

The wiretap convo about Zion’s demands is one of the main reasons that KU was under investigation. It isn’t hard to find.

How do you become one of these UNC sleuths, btw? Bet they’ve got ‘em working in shifts. 🤣

I didn’t say it was the top priority. But status matters. Especially to their parents.

And you keep bringing Kentucky up where no one else does. You think about Kentucky a lot huh?

UK got out of the bidding war early. Almost like we had a budget and coudn't spend that much on one player.

BTW, Our AD is an ass. I don't want someone who's rogue, but come one man, our stuff is outdated.

Eh…i think almost assuredly Nike was helping us out at one point too. I don’t think the chicago sun times new shit. More they were just throw something out there hoping it stuck. But i don’t doubt Davis got something. Probably some other guys too. Hagans though? Nah. We pass on Zion but bid on Hagans? just doesn’t make sense.

If we were to rank what the players got?
Who'd be the highest paid?
Some are due to relations like Wagner, Towns, Gilchrist.

Now it's a free game. Should we have a salary cap, but how do we do that when players are getting paid by endorsements?

Anything about Duke in those wiretaps. Keep dancing.

No…it doesn’t matter in the slightest to a player like Zion. They were a stepping stone and nothing more.

I would almost never bring up Kentucky if you didn’t constantly bring attention to yourselves and start threads to sling shit at other programs. See how that works?

It’s hilarious that many of you actually believe that a school with a rich history of violations, twice as many NBA players in recent years as any school not named Duke, a HC who left two other programs in tatters, and multiple players who were tied to the FBI probe, just happens to be the only school doing it the right way. Fer sure!

Yeah, I’ll bet they “passed” on Zion.

So it’s not hard for you to believe that guys like Silvio De Sousa and Brian Bowen were paid, but you can’t see consensus top 20 recruit Hagans collecting anything? 🤣

As people in the industry have repeatedly said, top 100 players (and many beyond) got paid. That’s reality. You can choose to not live there, but it seems pretty childish. How many players outside the top 100 has Kentucky pursued in the last 10-15 years?

This is a good point. Crazy how once every recruit has equal opportunity to get NIL money that UK ends up with the #1 class again.

True. I think they had the #2 class a time or two.

If only they could trade some of those top 10 recruits for the sub-100 players that go to cheating schools like KU. 🤣

I didn’t say we were the only ones doing it the right way. I just admitted i assumed we had help with guys like Davis and probably others.

But that’s not even the topic. Start a thread about it if you wanna talk about it that bad. This is a thread about a Kansas recruit admitting that he was paid to commit to them and they knew it. But again, wire taps don’t lie so he’s only telling us what we already knew.

Says the guy who makes accusations based on assumptions and pretends they are facts.

You can’t make this shit up.

Proof that player wants money. Proof that company execs wanted to give player money.

Afamu: player obviously didn’t take any money.

“From you, I’ll need a mansion, a job, and a load of money. But I’ll do the same job for those guys for free.”🤣

I mean……toddlers make more sense than you. It’s a ****ing embarrassment.

Is Zions stepdad, mother or Zion on any tapes or recordings demanding these things you say?

So once again, for 1,000th time. You have nothing.

C for effort though.

Actually, it’s a thread about a recruit who said that KU wasn’t a “victim” and the staff has relationships with shoe reps. No shit. None of these coaches are victims. Is that actually newsworthy to you?

Now if you admit that Davis and others were paid, why do your fans act so bitter when something comes out about a KU player? Especially when we’re talking about a player who contributed next to nothing before transferring, another who didn’t play a single game for KU, and a player who committed to another team. What an advantage!!

Has KU cheated Kentucky out of something? Maybe Cal’s bitter that he didn’t land some of those lower-rated recruits that he never wanted?

If either of our fanbases should feel cheated, it’s KU’s. Take away the $200k man and Self/KU have another championship.

After a 15 minute internal investigation, Duke confirmed they did nothing wrong and Zion chose them because they actually offered nothing and he wanted to play for a clean program.
When I was a kid I read a book about Wilt. He was quoted in the book as saying he went to KU because they were clean and didn’t offer him everything other schools did. At the time I was as naive as Afamu, so I actually believed the book. I was also 7.

I’m halfway convinced Afamu might be a UNC troll pretending to be a Duke fan, so as to make Duke fans look bad.

Oh yes, Zion was in it for the education. No doubt about it. He wanted that one year of education towards his doctorate. The real decision came down to whether he was going to be a medical doctor or go to Stanford to pursue his engineering degree. I hear it was a tough decision, but ultimately he couldn’t turn down the opportunity to pursue that one semester towards getting accepted into Duke medical school.

You were a stupid kid then and you are now a stupid adult. Believe whatever you like. I am a facts fan. None here point to what you think.

I think Afamu is only like 67. He’s still got some maturing to do.
