For those craving some college basketball in early August

Understatement.

BTW, Nick Richards has only missed 3 shots so far. In three games. Keep in mind he's shooting hooks and short jumpers.

i tried to be politically correct
not sure why, the haters are still going to hate

for as fast as this team is playing they are not turning the ball over very often
this team has size, shooting, speed, BB IQ and from what we have seen so far they love to play defense

looks like it is going to be a fun year

Soooo many storylines from this trip...so far.

Justin Rowland made a good point. These foreign teams are big and strong but also slow.

They also look completely disinterested. Bemax got dunked on tonight on back to back possessions, like poster dunks, and had no reaction. Just continued going through the motions. I thought San Lorenzo showed a little more fight.

Bemax guys looked like they couldn’t wait to get back to the beach and bahama mamas

They were pretty into it for a while until it was evident to them that they had no chance whatsoever. Bemax was talking loads of trash and being super physical. They got dunked on pretty hard twice in a row, and after that, it seemed like they gave up.

This isn't to downplay, but either their is another Mega Bemax or something...this team has 1 winning record of 8-6 since 2015-16.

CBB should be fun though if we play it this season, lots of great teams.

This team/organization is third for producing NBA draftee's, behind Duke, in the past 5 years. They have at least 2, maybe 3 players on their team that will hear their name called.

Ok, just saw his mixtape for the first time. That was pretty serious. Although I have no idea how efficient or consistent he is.

If my quick maffs are correct:

Well, Kentucky ends their Bahamas trip tomorrow. I've looked into the "Team Toronto" group a bit. Solid talent. Andrew Nicholson (spent a solid amount of time in the NBA, now averages 22.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game for the Guangdong Southern Tigers, a top team in the Chinese Basketball Association. Will also have Duane Notice (played a big role for the South Carolina team that went to the Final Four a couple of seasons ago), and the coach will be Roy Rana (best coach in Canada, one of the top international coaches in the world).

Not sure who else Canada has on their roster. There's no roster available, so it's going to be a bit of a surprise I suppose.

I meant White.

But yeah...he was okay.

I absolutely love the energy that Keldon Johnson plays with. Dude may have the highest revving motor of any player Cal has had at UK.

i am going to guess something is being left out somewhere
i doubt any pro team only plays 14 games a year

serious question, how do you think UL would have done against the three teams we have played?

Damn this team has been fun to watch. Just an energy and enthusiasm last years crew lacked sorely.

Not sure about UL, BUT teams like Duke, KU, Nova beats the shit out of them as well. Probably UT, Gonzaga as well.

Yeah, not buying Nova right now. They were completely gutted. They'll have to show me something first.

Duke, I kinda want to see how well they shoot first.

The others, I could probably see right now.

Might can say that about Kansas no way with no more experience than Duke has and no reason to believe that K can get a dominant performance out of one of these super young teams early yet and this being the least experience and depth. Sure all their freshman could live up to the hype but that sure isnt a given

strange how they some seasons they play a lot of games while other seasons not very many
i would not bet on the accuracy of that

BTW, you forgot to answer my question

My answer about us is the same answer as @Rhavicc gave about Nova. "Yeah, not buying Nova right now. They were completely gutted. They'll have to show me something first." Just replace Nova with Louisville. It depends on players breaking out whether our season is good or not. So far the word is good, but you never know until they step on the court. All the other teams @IUfanBorden mentioned, we know generally the talent level of the HS players and how good their returning players are. For Louisville, it's unknown how good the GT's will mesh with the returning players and if guys like King and Nwora break out in a system that they should really flourish in. Time will tell.

However, I do disagree with Rhavicc about Nova. I think Nova is a top 10 team just because they have Jay Wright and some solid returning players with a good recruiting class.

That's another thing too, don't know if the players will mesh with Mack and his system, but like I said, from what I have heard it has been great, but time will tell. The players can add all the muscle they want this summer, which they have (and a lot), but they still have to listen to what coach says when it's time for running plays and adjusting. I have all the reason to believe that they will be tough and they will play as a team, though. That's what makes our scenario different than others...

i think Mack is a good person and i think he will turn out to be a good coach
but a lot of times coaches seem to fall when making the jump, only time will tell
if i were a ul fan i would not look for too much this year
the cupboard is not bare, but it is close to it

The Cats played better than I thought that they would. I don't know how to measure the quality of the competition; however, if Borden's statement that "teams like Duke, KU, Nova beats the shit out of them as well. Probably UT, Gonzaga as well" is true; then I want him to remember that after the season starts.

I actually think that Kentucky is going to have a very good year. They look more like the 2015 team than any other Calapari team. Plus they played without two good players.

I really enjoy reading the posts demeaning the Kentucky team above. I may flag this thread to use against the haters later on.

Where did I demean UK? AND WHY wouldn't Duke, Kansas or Villanova "beat the shit" out of those teams? I mean you do know Nova has won 2 of the past 3 titles. And will be very good again this year. Kansas is loaded. So is Duke. Tenn returns everyone. I mean it's not like I drew 5 teams from a hat. Seesh. You guys. Hell I've said multiple times UK could be very good. Yet, here once again you guys are whining. Man you guys are so sensitive.

Is it a given UK's frosh live up to their hype? Let me guess---Of course they will. I mean they just beat a bunch of Bahama teams asses. Very comparable to Auburn, Tenn, Florida...Or Kansas, UNC, Duke.
Look no doubt the potential is there. None. But I think some of you are getting way to excited over a couple of exhibition games.

Are you sure it's the UK fans whining? Not you whining about the UK fans? You have to admit, other fans don't get to you like UK fans.

What gets to you the most?

mega bemax has more nba picks on there team than most college teams. The Argentina team has won their league three times in a row. Most UK fans thought we'd lose a game or two, some may have had their excuses already wrote out, but we didn't lose, we dominated.

Fandom takes over from there and now we have some on here, saying, "curb your enthusiasm".

Yeah, I'm going to be a fan and post dunk clips, boxscores and brag up my team. Hell you bragged up last years IU team.

That Argentina team also plays the worst competition in the world. I mean, come on...you watched the games. Did any of the opponents even look average by US standards?

You have to understand, they were playing UK. So yeah, I can see UK making a lot of teams not look up to "US standards".

Well shit then. Let's save the rest of us the trouble of playing/practicing forn7-8 months, and just give UK the title now. Great that Bemax has had some NBA picks. Means they've ha d some good players. Doesn't mean they've had good teams.
Kentucky looked good. Scary good. But it's August brother. Let's see how it goes when rotations aren't as loose. Playing road games. Games against KU, Duke and UNC. IF THEY do that as they didbthis past week, then we can talk.
