....as do you in actually staying on topic rather than troll/hijack every thread where "UK" is even mentioned.
EyerollWho else gets Shai Alexander in the lottery after 1 season? Nobody.
Again, he was a fringe 5* HIGH SCHOOL recruit, he was the 34th best HIGH SCHOOL player, not college, HIGH SCHOOL. There were thousands of college players he had to beat out to get into the lottery.
Now we’re moving the goalposts. They have to be a 4* lottery O&D player.
Typical
Haven’t you heard???? SGA is the GREATEST success story in the history of sports. I’m so thankful to have been alive to witness such a miracle.Donovan Mitchell was a 4 star recruit. He should have won rookie of the year. I don't get this overhype of SGA. I mean the kid is good, but why keep bringing up the 4 star to the lotto bs? I'll wait to see how good he is his rook season.
Little or no effectDoes anyone know how badly this has affected Adidas stock since it was first announced? I'm assuming its dropped like a rock?
What else should one expect from a slow, short, unathletic PG?LaughingIsn't it obvious why Green was recruited? Because Cal needs at least 1 new PG nearly every season and Green happened to be one of the best available, it was either him or Young and Young waited too long to decide, so it was Green and SGA. Who said Green has faltered? After his injury when SGA took over the point Green moved over to the 2 a lot of the time and played great, as undersized as he was. He was solid for UK last year and I expect him to play a huge role this season.
Idk, I wouldn’t be surprised if we got it. They seem to hate UL regardless. This won't happen, as the NCAA has a tarnished reputation under Emmert. It is a question being asked by many national sports writers though.
Meh, not really. Zach Collins was rated a 4* by ESPN and Scout. THough a 5* by Rivals and 247. Picked 10th in 2017.I'm not exaggerating anything. You really have to work hard to find anyone else that has done it.
Calipari is the only one doing this Borden. The man is a fcking legend. He doesn’t just roll the ball out, he does a crossover, behind the back pass to himself, then gently rolls it out.Meh, not really. Zach Collins was rated a 4* by ESPN and Scout. Marquesse Chriss was a 4*, selected 8th in the 2016 Draft
Cameron Payne was a 3* out of Murray State. Selected 14th in the 2015 draft...
Didn't have to work hard at all. And i only went back 3 years.
Kansas took the hit today, De Sousa played for the Jayhawks, while receiving $$$$. Will this cost Bill Self 20 wins, a conference championship, and a Final Four?
I did make a mistake---Cameron Payne was a sophomore. But still.......Calipari is the only one doing this Borden. The man is a fcking legend. He doesn’t just roll the ball out, he does a crossover, behind the back pass to himself, then gently rolls it out.
And you sucking hind tit.Haven’t you heard???? SGA is the GREATEST success story in the history of sports. I’m so thankful to have been alive to witness such a miracle.
It has to rank up there with Moses parting the Red Sea & Jesus walking on water.
I'm just saying Cal takes a beating for not winning more titles with "all the NBA talent he has had", but he doesn't get credit for player development. I don't care what you or anyone else says, Cal had a lot to do with SGA going in the lottery. He didn't just "roll the balls out" and tell Shai to figure it out. Yes, Shai has the physical tools, but coaching was one of the ingredients that got him there.Eyeroll
He was not the #TeenNumberDraftPick best player in college.
Cal didn't gift him height, didn't gift him reach, didn't gift him athleticism..
Potential and Talent, this kid had both long before Cal ever even offered.
Calipari gifted him an opportunity to earn play with other elite kids in an environment that was accessible and friendly for the NBA to keep tabs on. And Cal is an excellent coach. This post isn't to bash anyone at Kentucky.
The program gifted him great tools and coaches which this kid took advantage of and used them alongside his natural abilities to ball-out on the big stage.
Good on him.
Did Kentucky help this kid? Absolutely.
Is Calipari the reason this kid is in the NBA (or even went in the lottery) year one? Highly debatable.
More impressive than getting a #35 recruit drafted in the lotto, year one; getting an unranked kid drafted within 2 or 3 spots of the lotto, year one.
(Same Draft, so no snotty tears whine-os.)
It comes down to the same foundation- a great talent with length, great athleticism and when given a (great) opportunity the kid took advantage.
I agree with you there. Mitchell is incredible.Donovan Mitchell was a 4 star recruit. He should have won rookie of the year. I don't get this overhype of SGA. I mean the kid is good, but why keep bringing up the 4 star to the lotto bs? I'll wait to see how good he is his rook season.
And people wonder why the thread got so far out of hand. It's stupid posts like this that caused it.Haven’t you heard???? SGA is the GREATEST success story in the history of sports. I’m so thankful to have been alive to witness such a miracle.

Well, I'm done talking about it. It's derailed the thread enough. I simply made a reference to a 4* that went lottery and I still contend it was great player development and some extreme hard work by the kid.Meh, not really. Note: Just realized Payne was a Soph. Thought he decalred as a freshman. Bust still. A non, Top 100 kid, in the lottery---after 2 years. About on the level as the 34th rated player going as a freshman.

Bill Self and his assistants met personally with this guy? How are they going to claim ignorance about this now?
Will @wardhawk get his wish of Self getting fired?
Here's another one:I'm not exaggerating anything. You really have to work hard to find anyone else that has done it.
You never once, until now, mentioned this; Hard work by the kid. The whole time you were pumping Cal, and getting SGA drafted.Well, I'm done talking about it. It's derailed the thread enough. I still say it's a rare occurrence and extremely tough to do.
Now I'm done talking about it. Especially now that there appears to be a list of players that should be deemed ineligible.

Meeting with an AAU representative/sponsor is very common especially to go over recruits the schools are interested in. Gassnola later came out and said that Gatto and the other ADIDAS guys on trial created plans to conceal the payments from the coaches and universities. Tomorrow we will see if more info comes out about Self's meeting with Gassnola. At the moment it was just a meeting to help with recruiting which happens everywhere in recruiting. Using high school, AAU, and family to influence decisions is normal. The question is did Self and staff know that money was used to influence the decision. We may or may not find out in the next couple weeks.

Seems the best is yet to come.

Oh, and in case you missed it---I found two more:
