UK/KU

Not quite true :) 1 team we played is expected to win their Division. In the overall scheme of things this game doesn't carry any weight.

Items of note: Kansas has pretty much a new roster. More experienced yes. We are playing without any of our 3 bigs. I think we're more talented, but inexperienced with the exception Of Reeves, Mitchell and Thiero. We don't turn the ball over, which is exeptional for the pace of play and inexperience. We have a very balanced attack.
Kansas hasn't played a team this talented and as fast as we play.

I don't expect us to win, but we could with a good 3 point shooting night. I think we cover the spread, but lose.

I expect when they suit up against UT, all 3 7 footers will be available :)

KU might have a new roster but 3/5 starters and guys who are most likely going to play 30-35 minutes in this game were starting together on last years team. The 4th starter is an AA level player who you can basically insert into any roster and things be good. The 5th guy is still a work in progress but we are seeing the progress.

Also the idea that you run on KU and you’ll have success just never holds true. Even when KU has had their most unathletic big men it’s never been good to run with KU. Self’s teams have almost always been really good in the open court. This KU team especially you probably want to force into a halfcourt set and force as many perimeter shots as possible. Double teams off of KJ’s man haven’t been the most effective for opponents because KJ is really good at cutting behind the double team and Hunter is a really good passer out of the post. Self last week also countered the double off of KJ’s man by putting HD in the post and having KJ be the screener for Juan forcing KJ’s man to have to defend the PnR and not be able to help immediately on the catch to HD.

Double teams don’t seem to have a major effect on HD. He’s such a good passer and he always keeps the ball high in the post so guard doubles don’t have the same impact because he’s not bringing the ball down low for them to strip the ball. Now that means HD usually doesn’t move his defender very much up the lane after getting the ball because he’s not dribbling it. So really defending HD is about positioning before he catches the ball. Have to make sure he receives the ball more in the high post rather than the low post to either force a long post shot or a pass out to reset the offense.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, lets get to the real issues here

Can you at least give me a sneak peak of the new avatar I will be sporting?

I’ve never been good at picking avatars for bets. Mine for you is pretty mild.

UK is going to run. Its in this teams DNA. And we do have a few NBA 1st rounders playing. HD's tongue is going to be hanging out lol. We're a fun team to watch. Enjoy!

Agreed... but don't expect things to be any different this year.
No JC, UT is loaded and deep this year. We should be really good. I don't know what to expect from UK. We will find out a little tonight, but regardless of tonight's outcome it won't tell the tale on UK as I expect them to jell as the season progresses.

Playing a half court game would be the dumbest thing they could do. Kentucky has 3 guys that are elite in transition with 2 others that are solid. Sitting there trying to trade baskets when HD is going to eat all night would be a disaster.

Don't care.... heard that last year too. 1-1 or 2-0 (Like last year) are the likely scenarios.

We both know the likely scenario is UT sweeping UK. But, let's no get ahead of ourselves, y'all got a big game tonight.

It's a little weird for UK fans to bring up dominance over UT in this thread. Looking back, not sure why UT was brought up? ...that's right, there it is.

No, we don't. You got broomed last year by a UK team not as good as this one. UK will have their bigs back as well. The fact that I'm even giving you a chance at going 1-1 should be enough for you. Take it as a compliment.

We are better this year. You're not the only team that upgraded. We are kicking y'all's ass JC. You might as well go ahead and make your peace with that now.

Same shitty song, different year. 0-2 last year when you literally were crowing the same thing.

I really don't understand their infatuation with UT.
I think it is the Barnes factor. But, I wouldn't worry about it. I understand that Cal is going back to the Sport/Suit jacket for game day, so y'all got nothing to worry about.
