Time to revisit the should Zion play question?

He's a true competitor? Because he wants to win a title in college? Has established bonds with his teammates and doesn't want to let them down? He wants to accomplish a goal he set for himself?

The benefits of Zion doing something special in the ACC/NCAAT and then cashing in for $100M+ in the NBA outweigh the risk of him suffering some crazy freak injury that's life threatening.

I don't disagree with any of that. I'm just answering your question, about how it would compromise a future $100m if he tore his ACL.

I think all UK and UNC fans know this is likely to be K's last great team so they want to destroy any possibility there is for him hanging banner #6 and tying UNC and coming within 2 of UK's 8.
You have Carey coming in next yr who’s petty good and Wendell Moore. You need Jones to return bad but unlikely. K will have to go out and find him a few players because guys like white and bolden won’t cut it next yr. they are good with the studs that are around them, but will be totally exposed next year without the talent

Lol. He would be crazy to play again in college. You talk like he is guaranteed a title if he comes back and that there is no chance of another injury which turns a simple injury into a chronic one.

I hope he does come back though. But he’s not gonna.

True. But...........I think the other side of it is, Zion could slip on some steps....get hurt.

Was listening to Bilas this morning. He made the interesting observation that all top programs prohibit their guys from playing pick up games when they go back home for break.

Why would they do that?

So Coby and Little should shut it down as well then. Right?

Zion will be back by the Miami game next Saturday at the latest. He's simply listed as day-to-day with a mild sprain.

Pro Football Doc already confirmed that his sprain is less severe than Reid Travis' from UK and Travis should be back in 2 weeks too.

He talks like a 19-year old kid who doesn’t know the way the world works. Which is fine. I was the same way then. Unless he’s 40, then he’s just a homer.

Lol. Coby and Little looked like JV players last night. They better keep playing and prove something soon.

Barrett and Reddish would’ve been better examples.

If it is just a mild, first degree sprain with no ancillary issues then I agree he will come back.

Apparently I’m wrong and he’s barely hurt at all, so no point in that.

My understanding was more that injury was more than a mild sprain.
Gotcha. I had mentioned that ITT prior to you saying that. So I thought that you knew but you were saying he was going to sit out.

I missed that.

Hope he comes back soon and y’all subsequently lose every game after that and he goes on to be the #1 pick. That’s what you call a true feel good story.

So Coby,s performance in recent games is not good enough for him to shut it down? Little is still listed as a lottery pick. Why should they play anymore. Not basing this off last nights game.

Zion will be the number one pick, you dolt. There’s a big difference.

Why do I even respond to you?

Little is projected #5. White a first rounder.

So only the number one pick should shut it down.

Your bias shows.

Shall I answer this rhetorical question?

Anyways...My point is----You can get hurt a variety of ways. Step wrong off a curb. Fall down some steps....Shit, you can get hurt warming up for practice. Why would it be smart to not play now, opposed to not playing since the game before he got hurt? Or the game before that....Or before that?

It's a mild sprain. No tear...No break. A mild sprain he easily could have done doing a million other things.

How did they get around hippa?

If it’s not an official announcement from Duke, they are just guessing

Sure, but the rule is to limit the amount of activities that increase the likelihood of injury. If it’s just a mild knee sprain, he’s fine. But if it was a touch more serious, I’d shut it down.

My thoughts are twofold and probably shared by most if folks stop and arent reactionary.

A. If he wants to shut it down, I cant blame him. I dont like it, I think its bullshit and makes a mockery of the game; but hes looking at life changing money. Guaranteeing he gorea as the top pick by not unnecessarily risking further injury to secure millions and millions isnt rocket science. But they are doing this in bowl games and now this in basketball.....

B. If thats big of an issue, dont sign up to play college ball. All the politics of what benefits are permissible, profit NCAA makes and all that bs aside, if you dont like it then dont sign up.

Im a fan. A UK fan. I am about what is best for my program. I do not care about the NBA or its interests. I do not care about what is good for these guys for the next level. All I care about is UK winning SEC and national championships. If its not about that goal, I simply don't care. Get rid of the Top 25 guys every year and OAD? Great. I. Do. Not. Care. Show me whos coming to Lexington next season to help build for an SEC and March run. Period, point blank end of story. .

Of course you can get hurt a multitude of ways. Some ways have a higher chance of getting hurt than others. Playing basketball increases the odds of a leg injury over not playing basketball. Also, using an injured limb increases the time of healing and can possibly complicate or compromise the healing process.

So if your goal is to make as much money at basketball as you can make, then you probably shouldn't play basketball for free when you have been told you will get a great big contract in 2 months, provided that you are free of injury for the next 2 months. You also shouldn't do other higher risk activities, like, say, ride a motorcycle.

All that being said, given that it is a mild sprain and he will be completely healed before playing, his risk would now be the same as his risk was prior to the injury.

I would expect you already know all this though.

Good to see Duke is always on your mind 7-1 while at Duke against Unc. Great player.
