Thanking God for winning a title

Honestly, if anyone seems rustled in this thread it is those who don't believe (outside of the OP who wasn't rustled at all). Some of them even seem a little angry.

No idea what this means.
is that why the ones opposed to bkings argument were writing Mark Twain novels in response to the original OP, to defend their stance?

So you are basing it on the length of a post? That seems odd. I mean, look at the tone at some of the responses by those afterwards? Some seemed kind of perturbed.

It's all made up perception. amrite?

When talking sports on forums at least there's facts involved. People could back up opinions with proven boxscores.

People can interpret boxscores quite differently based on the same set of facts. There are very few facts involved with faith though. No doubt about that. That is kind of implied by the very definition.

Somewhat, yeah. Most of the posts regarding lack of faith, moreover thinking it's odd to "thank god", after winning something, have been relatively short and to the point. The tone seems pretty evenly keeled on both sides, imo.

Probably so. It seemed you didn't really think that at first though. The discussion has been pretty decent for what we may have expected here, haha.

When someone thanks God for winning, it's strange.

When someone thanks God for getting the chances, opportunities, etc, it's totally understandable.

I think there are some people out there who truly believe God wants them to win and their opponent to lose. That always makes me a bit... well, I find it hard to believe that that person truly understands what God wants and does not want.

While I have faith it doesn't include God helping my team win. Praying for help to do your best in all your endeavors is a different thing.
Again.........He didn't thank God for winning. Why is that so hard to understand?

Again how does god give some these amazing opportunities or place people in these positions when others get crapped on since the moment they are born. It’s basically eliteism. For example, 99% of North Koreans will never have the opportunities that you and I have been lucky to have. This isn’t just limited to special skills like athletic abilities im talking basic human needs for survival.

What makes me think he doesn’t have a plan for them? Dude there are generations of people who have live the worst lives for centuries. I think it’s absurd to say you don’t have to accept the plan he has for you when most “plans” are terrible. Most people will never even learn the concept of the Christian god.

I mean damn. How is a god who supposedly loves all his people of the world equally let this happen? Where some are given the position to make millions of dollars playing a meaningless game when there are some who will never taste clean water?

That’s fine. Obviously we have the free will as Americans to believe whatever we want. I’d argue that you’re wrong and some people truly do not have free will but that’s an opinion. Glad we could share our thoughts
Faith, my friend. If you do not have faith, you will not prosper. People decide how people live. Not God.

I wanna thank god that I made it to work on time today. The commute into SF can be quite an endeavor at times.
I don't mock the fact you do not believe. SO why mock the fact that I , or others, do? This is a classic example of being "rustled". I respect the fact you do not believe. That is your choice. You don't see me making light of that though, do you? So why do it to others?

I am. Me and Satan will soon be grilling steaks and drinking shots of tequila.
I have to assume you have never read the Bible? Hell is an awful, awful place. AS the Bible says, "It is a separation from God". Personally, I couldn't fathom that idea. I will assure you though..........If hell exist, and I certainly belive it does, Steak and tequilla won't be on the menu.

This is a good post. I would hope the first part of your stsatement, clears some things up. I to dislike it when it comes off as someone thanking God for winning. It's reckless to say that.

BUT...........I do not think that was what he was doing. IMO, he was simply thanking God for the opportunity/opportunities he has been given. You see those with faith, believe nothing is possible w/o God, but that all is possible with him. I would be one of those "people". I interpreted his "thanking of God" as being gracious for the blessings he has had in his life. Not for winning the game.
