City boy...Hogs eat acorns? I gotta admit, I never knew that.
There are black Iberian pigs that eat exclusively acorns in oak forest in France/Portugal that are prized for their flavor and price.

Jeff you goofball, pigs eat acorns. People have boiled acorns to remove the tannins and then made flour out of them. Acorns use to be a staple of people and critters. Are there any american hogs that eat acorns?
And acorns from the white oaks are best, less TannisJeff you goofball, pigs eat acorns. People have boiled acorns to remove the tannins and then made flour out of them. Acorns use to be a staple of people and critters.
Right, but are there any 'american' hogs that eat acorns.Jeff you goofball, pigs eat acorns. People have boiled acorns to remove the tannins and then made flour out of them. Acorns use to be a staple of people and critters.
Yeah, I heard the ones in France are just oakayAnd acorns from the white oaks are best, less Tannis
Jeff, a country boy would know that pigs will eat anything that has nutrition value. I gave you the info on Iberian pigs to widen your knowledge base. You're probably not a hunter (I'm not either), but you'd definitely understand feeding habits of wild animals if you were.Right, but are there any 'american' hogs that eat acorns.
I'm not really a city boy, but if the only hogs that eat acorns, are from France and/or Portugal, how is a country boy going to know this information?
It's not like there's a huge gaggle of hogs somewhere in Arkansas that have eaten all the acorns in the area and are now headed for Kentucky.
I am the greatest squirrel killer in my town and there is no baiting (or debaiting 😉).Jeff, a country boy would know that pigs will eat anything that has nutrition value. So Jeff, you now have a new fun fact to know and tell at your next cocktail party, ya city boy.
I hate squirrels and I hate racoons. However, squirrel and dumplings is hard to pass on.I am the greatest squirrel killer in my town and there is no baiting (or debaiting 😉).
I let the deer, coyote's and fox roam free.
Well, I have well over 100 confirmed squirrel kills in the last 5 years and I don't even have to go outside to do it.I hate squirrels and I hate racoons. However, squirrel and dumplings is hard to pass on.
I hire my nephews and some of their friends to come over and shoot squirrels with pellet guns. The bounty on a Squirrel is $1 (paid in cash), but they have to dress them.Well, I have well over 100 confirmed squirrel kills in the last 5 years and I don't even have to go outside to do it.
I have a red Fox family that lives somewhere in the woods near my house, I believe they are the ones getting all my squirrel meat.I hire my nephews and some of their friends to come over and shoot squirrels with pellet guns. Do you really eat squirrels? I'll believe you if you say you do.I have a red Fox family that lives somewhere in the woods near my house, I believe they are the ones getting all my squirrel meat.
I have had squirrels and coons get into my attic before. They can do a lot of damage. I walked into my attic once and came face to face with a momma coon. We just stared at each other for a minute and I backed out of there. Coons can be ferocious.I have a red Fox family that lives somewhere in the woods near my house, I believe they are the ones getting all my squirrel meat.
You don't?Do you really eat squirrels? I'll believe you if you say you do.
Nope, not me, the red fox family, buzzards and coyotes do though.Do you really eat squirrels? I'll believe you if you say you do.
Yeah, I had a coon and a family of squirrels in the attic when we moved in, I had to go up and chase them out, which was a bit scary the first time.I have had squirrels and coons get into my attic before. I sent my husband up and he trapped them (coons). Yeah, you can't stop squirrels, you can only contain them.Yeah, I had a coon and a family of squirrels in the attic when we moved in, I had to go up and chase them out, which was a bit scary the first time.
But, they chew their way in and they are relentless. You can kill every squirrel around for miles, but eventually a new batch comes around and immediately follows the same paths as all the previous other ones, so there's only one thing to do and it's been quite effective
Tree rats are delicious.Do you really eat squirrels? I'll believe you if you say you do.
The equivalent of shit in a shoe box. Poor kid.

HUh? Have you never eaten squirrel?Do you really eat squirrels? I'll believe you if you say you do.
When I was a kid, my father took me squirrel hunting, I killed my first at 8 years old with an old single shot 410, my dad made me skin and gut it and then we ate it that night just like the ones he had always brought home, but for some reason that one I killed seemed to taste a little bit better. 😉HUh? Have you never eaten squirrel?
Lurk is from Seymour, Indiana.....Jackson County is one of the most ass backward counties in Indiana. He must have been one of the "rich" Jackson County hillbillies, who only ate the finer things in life---Like, chicken.SmokinSmileWhen I was a kid, my father took me squirrel hunting, I killed my first at 8 years old with an old single shot 410, my dad made me skin and gut it and then we ate it that night just like the ones he had always brought home, but for some reason that one I killed seemed to taste a little bit better. 😉
I hunted them for years, and ate them in many ways, but life moves on with time.
I don't hunt them any more because my wife will not even try them, and I do not kill any animal unless it is for food or to protect my family or property. 👍
I do understand someone not ever trying eat them, it's all the way you are raised. If I tried one tomorrow I may not care for it now. And I could do that in the morning, my property is covered with them. I have Hickory, Pecan, Oak, cherry, Plum, and apple trees. 😎
Edit: I forgot to mention the grape vines, they seem to like a sweet treat.
I don't know about that, he's a good dude to me. I would fix him a big ole squirrel dinner if I still ate it, But I would not try that with anyone as long as it has been since I have done such.Lurk is from Seymour, Indiana.....Jackson County is one of the most ass backward counties in Indiana. *Lived in Seymour in the early 80's.Ahhhh, now it all makes sense.
Snapper is delicious. A buddy of mine used to host an annual 4th of July party and they would hunt critters all year for it. Always had deer, turtle, squirrel, rabbit, frog legs, and a bunch of other stuff.*Lived in Seymour in the early 80's.
I do remember eating turtle once while up there.
Our conference schedule is pretty much the same as everyone else. We all play the same teams. Who are the teams in the SEC with an easy schedule? Our conference schedule is freaking brutal, I'll be surprised if we are able to win the conference with this schedule
