Hope you looked both ways.......We bought our house 4 years ago and have been slowly renovating it. Then about a year ago, we started a massive renovation.
Here was the front of the house when we bought it.
Here's the front of the house about two years later. Up to this point, I did all of the work myself (plans, permits, framing, electrical, drywall, etc). I'm a CPA, and this experience convinced me to leave my career.
Another two years down the road, we turned the one car garage in to a two car garage, add a semi-circle driveway, added a tower entry, and RV gates to both sides. Oh, and we also re-did the roof because the wife didn't like the brown. This work was all subbed out.
And some pictures now that everything is painted:
We're now in the process of redoing the backyard. When that's done, we'll also redo the fence/gate on the right.
This is the first hawkit sighting in years for me! Hope all is well.
Solid stripe job.It maybe be <5,000 square feet, but the yard is my pride and joy.
I wonder how many people confused that for a yard sale, before he had to put up the sign.
I think of your trouble often. It is tough to go through disasters like that.It has been a challenge. We are fortunate to have friends that have opened their home to us for the last 3 months. But they are leaving for the winter and they lease their house out while they are gone. So we will be living in a FEMA trailer in our driveway until our house is ready. There is some progress. Roof is done, all of the debris is removed. Looks a lot better from the outside. The quote we got for the crawlspace including ductwork is $16,000. So far not covered by insurance. That is pretty much holding up progess right now. So we'll see.
Thanks for asking.
Can someone Photoshop uncfaninky's fake wife into this picture?
My back yard:
I was born in South Central Kentucky. South Central Kentucky has more caves than any place in the world. It was natural that I would end up in some cave as there were two large caves in my back yard of the house in which I was raised.
My mom and dad did not want me to go into any damned hole. But those damned holes were everywhere around my home.
By 1962 I had a reputation of being able to go to places others were scared of, so I did. I weighed in at about 125 pounds at 5’11” and no fear of small spaces.
So here are some pictures of small places and some of the folks that I went into them with. Some of the pictures are not good because it is hard to take good pictures with a $10.00 camera.
I played basketball at Park City High School. All I know of is Park City Elementary
Here are some
I played basketball at Park City High School.
It ain't a lot to brag about, but I made the damned team. In 1963 we played Allen County for the right of going to the State Tourney. Did you ever get that close to the State Sweet Sixteen? Of the guys on my team one went to UK, one to Okla State and one to Western Kentucky. Was your team any better?
Van Vance, the guy that did University of Louisville basketball on radio and TV went to Park City High School. He was the starting guard with my first cousin.
How many of your family did shit like that?
Why degrade the little pieces of shit?
I did pretty damned good being a piece of shit from Park City.
Austin Tracy had a decent team when I was in high school. Their starting guard was Charlie Hopkins who was a fantastic shot. He ended up being a coach. He was the assistant coach at Edmonson County when they won the title in 1976 and then he was the coach at Heath (I think), then Paducah Tilghman and back to Edmonson County.I knew Austin Tracy used to be a high school but I never knew that Park City was.
Good stuff. My wife is an architect and we usually tackle a lot on our own. But this is beyond our scope. We are converting the garage to an in-law suite and building a new, oversized 3 car garage. If the budget isn’t blown, we want to add a pool house to the back of the garage. Going to do a bump out for a new master bed/bath and re-do the inside of the house. Total gut. Outside, we are going to reface the house with brick or stucco. Haven’t decided yet. Lastly, hardscaping and a new driveway.
We bought the house as a primary property but also an investment. It’s in a great area and a potential money maker. When it’s done, we have the choice of staying here long term or selling.
This is what it looked like when we bought it
This is the current condition. The garage is on the far left. That becomes the in-law suite.
This is kind of what we are going for. Change the facade. Add glass to the recessed area in the middle. New roof. Not sure about the driveway in the front.
