***Official Transfer Thread***

The fact this thread is 16 pages. Man.

I have lost interest in following recruiting over the years, and now transferring is at an all time high.

I'm better off taking a look at our final roster before the season starts and watching youtube videos. I don't like the direction college basketball is going.
It sucks on some level, but this has also been the most interesting off-season ever

Yeah I think it's challenging for fans. No way to predict who is coming and going. Gone are the days of player development over any extended time period. Coaches have to do more branding of a program than actually building a program, if that makes sense...

I agreed with you until last night 😞

Really excited to see Williams back for another season. I do think he has more upside than Dickinson, but as far as impact on the collegiate level next season, I'd comfortably go with the guy who was 2nd Team All-American. I think 13 points, 8 rebs, and 2 blocks are reasonable expectations for Williams. He could exceed that, of course, but I think those are realistic projections. Dickinson will be preseason 1st Team All-American by every major publication out there. Would be tough to top, IMO.

Hurt was a perfect fit for a big like Williams imo. Not sure Banchero will be. I know he handles the ball on the perimeter a lot and shoots from there but he's best inside. Could be a decent overlap.

I'll be surprised if you win that bet. KP's POY rating is also weighted by the teams' rating and that player's contribution on that team compared to other players.

From an article talking about the rating:

"which players are carrying the most weight and producing the most for the nation's best teams, or which players have the most impact on their team being really good"
Yeah maybe, I'm guessing Dickinson will have greater usage than Williams does so that might help him if Michigan is as good as it was last year. I'm assuming Paolo will have the highest usage on our squad.

Michigan is getting Caleb Houstan and Diabate though so there's plenty of competition for shots on their squad. Eli Brooks and Brandon Johns are back too.

Looks like the KPOY weighs defensive impact heavily too and if our FG% allowed at the rim is very low that could help Mark as well.

I probably would've suggested BPM if it the bet was for money but it'll be fun to see how this plays out.

Let’s just assume for the sake of things that Hamilton, a guy who is lauded for his ability to connect with young men and get them to buy into his selfless system, is able to get Fletcher’s head on straight.

Assuming that, what kind of potential as a player does he have? Versatile defender? Finish above the rim?

He has a ton of potential. He looked really good at times, in his limited minutes at UK. A superior athlete and above the rim finisher for sure. At his best driving to the bucket, not a deadly perimeter player at this point. Good defender.

I think it will be somewhat comparable to Marvin Bagley and Wendell Carter a few years back.

Harmon is a good player.

Wants to play PG.

Even without Reeves OU beat Alabama

But is better when he plays with another ball handler.
Don't know why he wants to be the primary ball handler.

It will be interesting to see how Altman plays it with him and Richardson in the backcourt. Most people assume Richardson will start as the PG but Richardson has experience playing off the ball with Pritchard.

According to what Harmon wants they will use him as a primary ball handler.

Nothing wrong there.
Like I said without Reeves OU still could play.

Truthfully think Harmon is better when you have two PGs though

Altman told him to he could come to Oregon and "Have Fun and just ball"

The way he recruits is vastly different than others.
I could see why he is a decent recruiter

I was just impressed at how accurate his top 10 seemed to be as the year went on. Is there another player rating system that is also good/better? I’m open to other options.

@dukedevilz probably knows of a good one. KP's just seems to be heavily weighted to the players on teams at the top of KP's ratings. Which for his purpose makes sense. POY of the year should come from the best of the best.

Not sure there really is one. There are metrics that I like which incorporate several statistics, which is kind of similar. Not sure I know of anything that encompasses everything you'd want for a player of the year rating. Here are a few of the metrics I really like. Most of the guys in the top 10 are names that you'll recognize. These are mostly All-Americans.

Just asking...do you think Banchero is better than Carlos Boozer?

Boozer averaged 13 and 6 as a frosh, and I’d be surprised if Banchero didn’t surpass those numbers. Different players, though, especially at this stage.

James Akinjo to Baylor. Interesting. Obviously talented, but not exactly a stellar track record.
He will have to sit out a year unless he gets a waiver, right? Because he previously transferred. The NCAA clarified that recently and is why McClung is staying at Texas Tech.

Wheeler could be a strong possibility because of his relationship with Ulric Malgi.
Malgi/Chris Beard offered his 13 year old brother while at Texas Tech
Malgi was on the A&M staff when Wheeler was suppose to go there. They all ended up leaving and Wheeler went to Georgia.

We will see..

I don't know for sure who Beard wants.
Could be comfortable with what he has and have Ramey and Askew share the point

K.C. Ndefo from St. Peter’s is in the portal. Certainly won’t be a star, but he averaged 14 & 6, plus 3.5 blocks per game. 2x MAAC DPOY. Would be a solid piece for anybody.
