I said they played pretty good. That’s a compliment most places. Guess Iowa is different.
Odd that Newman would redshirt, especially in this day of CBB. Purdue could use shooters, that’s why he was recruited I’d say.

Yeah, I questioned his comment on 38% and he wasn't confident enough in his team to stick with it. I'd happily take his bet at 38%.

I’d say Painter is comfortable with what they have in terms of outside shooting if he is redshirting Newman. You can already tell Hunter is a lot more comfortable this season just from this game.
Definitely was the strength of his game. He apparently was struggling with the details.
Only one game but Jahaad Proctor looks really good tonight. And if Haarms can keep hitting 3’s like that, he’s going to have a hell of a season.

I love how Proctor moves without the ball. I obviously don’t expect this level of production from him on a nightly basis but I was really encouraged with how he looked.
Kind of the same for me with Justin Smith. Don't expect that every night, but his confidence seemed higher on the offensive end. He's always been solid defensively, but he just played with more confidence offensively. Good to know they're capable of this level of production, even though it won't be a night in night out kind of deal.
No doubt. Perhaps Painter knew what kind of player he had in Proctor which helped justify the Newman decision?
Had a knack for getting open down low, and he can score from all 3 levels. Like you said he obviously won’t sustain this but he really fills a need for us.
Hunter also appears to have made big strides.
I think we’re gonna have some ugly offensive games early but I like the pieces. Defensively this team could be very very good.

Proctor looked pretty comfortable out there. Hated seeing Eastern looking gimpy on his foot and now his wrist. Pretty sloppy but definitely some upside potential. 37.001 from three or better looking like a real possibility- time will tell.
