***Official B1G In-Season Thread***

Yeah, there’s a lot to like about this team. It’s going to be fun watching them develop. I’m excited for the season even if that Maxey kid hero ball’d his way to a win.
I'm still trying to figure out how any of Maxey's shots went in. Odd form and shoots line drives.

If you want to argue counter points I’m all ears.
MSUs flaw is we are thin at guard and when Winston is out who runs the point. But I believe watts will turn into a fine player and UK is as athletic at guard as you’ll find.

If we continue to fire up brick after brick from 3 moving forward then I’ll maybe change my tune. Have to see it first.

What part of “if you say so” makes you think I want to argue counter points?

@Jaycg15 get your boy up to speed
I have a feeling that the population of Illinois fans that come out of the woodwork to post here may rise this season. I can't moderate them. I'm sorry.

That said, @Illinois0, most of these guys are pretty fun to get along with and will have reasonable conversations as long as you aren't throwing fanboy talk at them constantly. Also, go ahead and do yourself a favor and put JohnHoosier on ignore.

Badgers look solid last night but B1G took some hits with Illinois, Michigan, Nebraska and even Maryland struggled.

Made money on Duke & UK last night. Not going to overreact from the first week of play. MSU will be fine. Plenty of time for teams to figure it out.

What makes you say that? I just saw that Green Bay played at the 8th fastest pace in college basketball last season.

UK’s defense looked real sturdy last night. They’re gonna really good if they can get their offense moving.

Game 1 of the season. All of those teams won except Nebraska (who no one thought would be good with the exception of Nebraska fans), so I don't think the conference took that much of a hit. No one will care about those games in a month.

Nebraska might be Crean year 1 bad.

Yeah exactly. The key in these early games is getting the win and avoiding the bad L...especially as teams break in new guys.

Now if the issues persist a month down the road, then we can talk.

I will say that I expected Illinois to hit the ground running a little more than others, but I didn't watch a second of that game so can't really weigh in much.

There are some positives you can take from the UK game if you’re MSU. If we shoot just average, we win. We defended quite well, and I thought Bingham and Kithier looked like they belong. But the jump shooting was just terrible.

Guys were sloppy with the ball. We were up 20 then got too loose, and they had a guy hit some shots. I will say that Kofi is a game changer. He changed so many shots. It will be a lot of fun watching him these next 1-2 years.

Gotcha. Kofi is just what you guys needed then. How'd his mobility look last night?

26 assists on 31 made baskets last night. SmokinSmile

I was very encouraged by the offensive sets that we were running last night, even if it was just against Cleveland State. Got alot of open 3-point looks and made the most in a game in 4 years. Frontcourt depth is going to be an issue all season, but I am more optimistic about this team than I was a month ago.

that's a stat that I look at and like.-*/

Don’t care lol. He’ll probably get drafted somewhere in the second. Not sure how well he’ll do though

Not being a dick I’m genuinely curious lol. Hell of a college player just curious how his game translates to the next level.

Here’s my question: is he an NBA guy?

Maybe as a backup, but its definitely an uphill battle. Last night against the UK guards (all 6'3" with plus wingspans) - you could see he was having trouble getting separation, which is something that'd be even more difficult in the NBA. That said, if he did play in the NBA he'd likely not be guarded by the opposing team's best defender as he'd be in the 2nd unit / backups, and probably be the lowest threat on the court at any given time.

I think he’s someone you could roll out on your bench and feel comfortable with him running the offense when out there, but not a great defender. He’s a crafty finisher and has a good shot. He could make a living as a bench player for a while.
