Mason Gillis is a back-up 4 and Brandon Newman or Stefanovich can play the 3. In a motion offense, the 1-3 is pretty interchangeable. Can you elaborate on why it’s a “very flawed” roster?
Gillis is not expected to be ready for the season. I just elaborated on why it was a flawed roster. No backup 4. No real 3s. 4 centers.

Lol what do you consider a “real 3?” You didn’t elaborate at all. You just said no backup 4 or no real 3’s. Did Purdue have a real 3 last year? Nojel Eastern isn’t a real 1 but in Purdue’s offense, it doesn’t matter. Painter plays 3 guards almost 100% of the time and oftentimes they’re interchangeable. The overall roster composition between this year and last isn’t that different. We lost two guards and a forward and bring in two guards and a forward.

He’s going to be fully cleared by June, what are you talking about? What does a “real 3” look like btw? Ryan Cline? Lol
Gillis hasnt played a real game of basketball in over a year. He's already undersized at 6'6". To expect him to come in and play any sort of significant role this season is crazy.

Ryan Cline was capable of playing the 3 as a senior. Sasha was not great last season. Newman will be a freshman.

Last year you had Wheeler as a backup 4/3. You had Cline playing 34 min/gm at the 3. Sasha is not Ryan Cline.

Lol just like Ryan Cline wasn’t Dakota Mathias. Sasha is of the same mold as Cline.

“Undersized” just like Vince Edwards was. I didn’t say he’d play a significant role, he just needs to play 8-10 mpg.

So you are caught up in the whole everyone is going to be Dwayne Wade and Victor Oladipo.

I recommend letting it play out.
For real? By saying Sasha is in the same mold as Ryan Freaking Cline? Lol

We also have a grad transfer who can play the 2/3 as well.

Sasha shot 41% from 3 last year lol. Your argument makes little sense. Purdue can interchange any of the guard spots. They don’t have to have a traditional 1, 2, or 3. This is a strange argument you’re making.

Wheeler didn’t back up the 3. He backed up Eifert at the 4.
You are telling me Wheeler was never on the court with 2 other bigs? I dont believe that. Regardless, you are very thin to say the least at the 3 and 4 spot going into the year.

Sasha's 3pt shooting (on limited attempts) is basically all he brought to your team. He was very good inside the arc or from the free throw line.

Cant recall it happening but maybe it did a few times at most. He was Eifert’s backup primarily. So by your logic, Purdue was thin at the 3 and 4 spot last year too? Seemed to work out okay.

Yeah who needs someone who can hit over 40% of their 3’s on almost 2 attempts per game in limited minutes. Lol. Sasha has a more well-rounded overall game than Cline btw.

As you just said, Wheeler was Eifert's backup. You don't have a clear backup 4 at this point.

Not sure how you think he has a more well rounded game. He was atrocious inside the arc and at the free throw line. It's a net loss going from Cline at the 3 to Sasha.

I don’t even think he’ll start next year.

And I think you’re wrong, we shall see.

It will be interesting to see how it goes. Painter has an open schollie and is choosing not to recruit a grad transfer forward so he seems ok with the current roster. I can def see the iu guy’s point that it’s hard to imagine Gillis playing much/well with so much time off from hoops....

Yep that’s my perspective as well. If Painter was going after a grad transfer forward or would have offered the kid that went to Indiana state then I’d me more worried.

Yeah, look at Gil using that same argument about Joke for a few seasons.

to clarify just what size are these players are supposed to be before they cab play certain positions. please put a height at these positions
1
2
3
4
5

I have always been confused on how tall players have to be before they can play.

with Moss leaving I have changed my lineup
PG/1 6'5 Connor/5'11 Toussaint
SG/2 6'1 Jordan backup 6'4 Fredrick
SF/3 6'6 Wieskamp backup 6'8 Patrick
PF/4 6'11 Garza backup 6'8 Pemsl
C/5 7'0 Nunge backup 6'9 Kriener,

Jordan and Kriener are the only 2 SR's on the team. I expect Jordan to be the SR leader on this team. which with a Fran coached team is very important.

Moss wanted to be the man and have the offense thru him. was not going to happen. looking for the offense to run thru Wieskamp and Garza as these are the top 2 scoring leaders that return, Garza 13.1 ppg 2nd 4.5 rpg, Wieskamp 11.4 ppg 4th, 4.9 rpg 2nd on the team
Pemsl when he was the starter as a True FR 19.3 MPG, 8.9 ppg, 5.0 rpg.

they lost 2 starters and their 6th man but they have these replacing these
6'9 250 lb Cook 6'11 Garza/6'8 Pemsl
6'5 Moss 6'1 Jordan/6'4 Fredrick
6'7 Baer 6'9 Patrick

6'1 Jordan 6'5 Connor
6'11 Garza 7'0 Nunge
due to the changes.

I'd guess Wheeler gets more minutes than that, right? He should be your best player next year.

And I think it's clear @ThreeTwaunMoore more was just trolling last night. No way anyone truly believes Purdue will finish third at this point going off of anything other than pure fanboy dreams.
You said the same thing two seasons ago with Biggie leaving and then again last year with the four seniors graduating. We shall see.
