If Mason Gillis a true freshman who hasn’t played a game in like 18 months is playing backup minutes that’s less than ideal.

Not sure if he will to be honest but it’s a possibility. Wouldn’t surprise me to see us go big with both Haarms and Williams at the 4 and 5. Dowuona is a wild card too.

Probably just need 8-10 minutes out of him. The fact that Painter and staff aren’t going hard after a grad transfer forward tells me they’re confident he can contribute some next season.

Edwards was not very good at all for most of the conference season and Purdue still won the conference title. The league doesn't look that strong. Purdue was picked like 5-6 by most of you last season and finished first. Finishing third really isn't that crazy
Yes it would be

He was god while he was here, but now that he's gone, he was hardly an impact to their success.
This is absolutely the truth. Purdue fans all were convinced he was the B10 POY and an All American prior to the season. While he didn’t hit both of those, he was still right there in consideration. Now, the point to his FG% and day he didn’t have an impact.

You literally can’t make up this type of stupid.

Yeah, not sure that you want Haarms and Williams playing along side each other much. Certain situations I’m sure it would be fine. But I dont think that’s the combo you want.

Give Hoiberg some credit. He's willing to burn it to the ground to build it up right. I'm glad Underwood did the same, but he waited a year longer. That said, not a good look, but I'm sure he'll recover.
Couldn't wait another hour?
90 minutes?
Couldn't have gotten the Robert Kraft massage, taken a quick nap and then cut this kid?

Love me some Hoi, but that is rough.

Agreed. Just don't think it's a huge issue regarding Purdue and the backup 4 like @B1G_Fan mentioned. I'm guessing Wheeler will play 25+ minutes a game and we won't need a ton of back-up minutes at the 4 spot. I'm guessing it'll be some combo of Gillis or Haarms/Williams.

I'd guess Wheeler gets more minutes than that, right? He should be your best player next year.

And I think it's clear @ThreeTwaunMoore more was just trolling last night. No way anyone truly believes Purdue will finish third at this point going off of anything other than pure fanboy dreams.

I find it hard to believe that Gillis will be ready to contribute, much at all, this coming season. He hasn't played for a long time and then trying to make the jump to college? Gonna be tough. Not impossible, and I think it happens regularly, but if I had to guess I wouldn't count on much from him.

What are you hearing about him so far?

Eifert averaged right around 25 mpg last year. I think Wheeler will be in that 25-30 range more than likely. Eastern is the only guy I can confidently say will average over 30 mpg next year. I think the best player discussion will be amongst Wheeler, Eastern, and Haarms.

Yeah Lunardi is just a magnificent person to follow on seeds
he is a joke that's for sure but he very very rarely puts Iowa that high, its more likely a 8 or 9 seed at best.

this was a big surprise to me, although some of the too early polls have Iowa in the top 25, so a 5 or 6 seed is more realistic.

Just that he should be ready to go. The RS idea has been brought up multiple times but it sounds like as of now, the plan is to play all 3 freshmen next year and not redshirt anyone.

Man, why wouldn't you give him the RS? Feel like that would just give him more time. Maybe it's what the kid wants (which is totally fine)?

Things were looking bleak for a moment in the recruiting department. Gotta give Pitino some credit for scratching together a very solid class. Could still add one more guy and obviously need Coffey back.

Pitino staying above water is good for the competition in the B10. I'm not so sure it's good for Minnesota though.

one thing that will affect future polls and brackets is Moss leaving. losing 2 starters and their 6th man will hurt.
RSSR Moss will be replaced by a RSFR in Fredrick. Moss was up and down all season never staying consistant from game to game, shooting 42% from 3 and 80+% from the FTL he will be a good addition for any team, nobody understands his decision as he would have been a 4 year starter for Iowa.

Don’t think it’s that far fetched at all with what everyone else in the conference lost.

He should be fully cleared by June giving him 5-6 months to ramp up. I think that’ll give him enough time to play a handful of meaningful minutes per game off the bench as opposed to bringing another guy in.

Purdue fans all were convinced he was the B10 POY and an All American prior to the season.

That wasn’t a homer take though, the media had him as both preseason. And the fact he didn’t get either award does show he wasn’t quite as good as the preseason predictions imo (to be fair, he was well above expectations when it mattered, in the NCAAT)

I was called an overly optimistic fan boy for thinking we’d be top 5 in the b10 and a 7 seed in the NCAAT a year ago, so it’s certainly tough to predict the b10

As I posted a few weeks ago, I think MSU is all by themselves on the top tier, and the next ~8 teams are all in the mix to contend. Should be another fun season

I know these guys are high level athletes. It just seems like he would benefit more from a RS season. But, I'm sure he is chomping at the bit to get on the court and play. I just think the combination of him missing the last year or so along with trying to get adjusted to the college game, is going to be difficult.

Not it wasn't, at all. In fact, most people here agreed with both regarding Edwards.

I was just making fun of @ThreeTwaunMoore more and his obvious trolling posts last night.

Now that snu thinks it's crazy and there's no way we'll finish 3rd, im even more confident then i was before we will finish at least that high, probably a b1g title now. That ******(and all the other ******s on here) is ALWAYS wrong when it comes to Purdue. Lol

Go home, John. You're drunk...

Tell me again about how bad we were going to be last year after losing 4 seniors.
I, along with everyone else here, thought Purdue would take a step back. I still said around 4-6 which wasn't out of line with what others thought here.

Again, go home John. You're drunk.

The funny thing is that the Wisconsin/Illinois transfer rumor was actually a different Iowa wing who supposedly loves Iowa but hates playing for Fran. He's going to go pro asap.

And any Purdue fan who thought differently you made sure to call out and let them know how wrong their opinion was. As obsessed as you are with all things Purdue bball you sure are always wrong about anything that has to do with it.

Yeah I agree with that. I don’t think much is going to be asked of him this year & like you said I’m sure he’s chomping at the bit to get out there. He’s also a guy that would have zero% chance of redshirting this year for Purdue based on talent and team need. So if the player and coaching staff feel good enough about his health, I’m all for it.

But you also have more unknowns than a lot of teams.
Does Purdue really though? Everyone else either has just as many unknowns or the teams with known pieces coming back were a lot worse than Purdue last season.
