Easily. He fails to realize that our competition in the Big 10 arent recruiting vs MAC schools. They are getting big time players.

You cant have a team of developmental players in this league and expect to be good. The league is just to strong

Well, you can, but they have to be better than what Iowa is bringing in this class. 3 300+ recruits won’t cut it.

Not asking them to be on Duke and UNC level. But we are recruiting against MAC schools
didn't realize those were Mac Level schools, Ulis is from Chicago and as a SO led his team to 26 wins, then as a JR led his team to 27 wins, that makes more wins than what his older brother did.
the Murray twins never played on the AAU Circuit to get evaluated so they are the under the radar guys that NOBODY KNOWS anything about except the coaches that were/are recruiting them,
until they play NOBODY can say what level they should play at,

even Clemmons was a 2* by ESPN and had a very good career. Fran does a very good job at identifing talent. the biggest problem lately has been lack of athletic and defensive minded players, these new players bring both the athletic ability and defensive oriented mind set.

the new coach also brings the defensive mindset to the coaching staff.

another thing is now Fran can sit a player on the bench next to him that does give 100%, unlike the last 3 seasons, Moss took plays off as did Cook.

face it Cook should have avg'd better than 14+ ppg and 7+ rpg with his athletic ability

Big Ten wide open at this point. MSU still the favorite, but the loss of Langford definitely opens things up for Ohio State, Maryland, Purdue etc.

I mean you can spin it however you want, but you have 4 guys that didn't have P5 offers. That's not ideal. From what I've heard and seen, Ulis will do fine in the B10, but I think the others are reaches.

Hope he can make it back and make a living playing basketball (beyond what MSU boosters and the shoe companies have paid him of course).

Yea, too bad we didn't have him in the Swanigan private chef program or else he could've had enough calcium to overcome these brittle bones

Michigan State was also the overwhelming favorite to win the whole thing. NCAA is now wide-open. Hopefully Langford can return to his former self at some point. Tough break. Maybe Izzo will pair Winston with Rocket Watts in the backcourt? That could be a fun duo.

never knew that Iowa was the dream school for these top 50 recruits. besides he is getting the 60-100 players with a couple on the 101-150 with what I call the glue guys that stay 3-4 years sometime 5 depending on if they RS or not

Uthoff RS'd and it did him pretty good
Moss RS'd and now he is playing for Kansas.
Nunge and Fredrick both RS'd and they are just getting started.

RS'ing worked out for Wisconsin and I don't recall them getting that many top 50 recruits, getting them and doing something with them is another
Indiana just had a 1 n done player and how did that work out other than TJD who did they get, even in this class they have got low level recruits in the lower 100 to 150 range.

MSU is really the only team in the BT that recruits on the level you want Fran to get,

there are 10 teams that Fran is recruiting as good or better, now its just a matter of improving the defense and athletic abilities of the team, these players he has recruited are doing just that.

So if we don't land our top 2 targets, are you ok with the class?

Kennesaw State is hauling in better recruits in the 2020 class than Iowa. Things will change a bit if you get Foster. But as of right now, yes, very MAC-esque.

We went to the Final Four last year without him, and we brought back our 2 best players and Aaron Henry who was very good late last year. The coaching staff has also been talking up Rocket Watts a lot. I’m still confident we’re #1

Yore 2020 class is going to finish dead last in the conference. Who are these 10 teams Iowa is recruiting better than? MAC teams don't count.

Supposedly Watts has been very good and surprisingly good on D.

Between him, Gabe Brown, Aaron Henry and Kyle Aherns we should be ok at the 2.

We bone crushed last year without him and will have much better depth this year.

It only really starts to hut if we have another guard get injured because then depth becomes a major concern. Loyer would need to play a lot more than he should.

You lost Goins and Mcquaid tho. And Ward. Personally, I think Kansas is better now and probably a couple other teams.

Ahrens really isn't a 2. He's more of a 3. But with no Langford we have Brown, Watts, Winston and Henry to play the guar spots. Ahrens and Hall at the 3 with the occasional Henry or Brown at the 3 would be my bet.

Watts just needs to stay healthy so Loyer wont have to be Winstons backup.

That was a position we could take a hit at. We have Gabe Brown, Aaron Henry, Kyle Ahrens, and Rocket Watts. Rocket is the only one who’s actually a true 2, but at MSU, the 2 and the 3 are pretty much that same offensively. Just wings.

And you still might be the #1 team. But, you probably don't get 60 of the 65 first place votes if the voters knew Langford is out for potentially the whole season. MSU will still be really, really good. I just think with a healthy Langford, the gap between you guys and the rest of the NCAA was tantamount to the gap between the Warriors and the rest of the NBA when they had a healthy KD, Curry, and Klay.

haven't lost Fran's top target in Foster as for Sibley he is rated #85 by ESPN and #86 by Rivals. would have welcomed him but he is not that big a loss, yet
he is 6'8 190 lbs
Kris 6'8 listed by Rivals 175
Keegan 6'8 listed by Rivals 180 lbs

don't see much difference other than Sibley is a low top 100 4* and the Twins are NR recruits.,

get the #1 recruit in Foster and its still a sold class and add the Euro player and it is even better, so yes I am happy

the 14 years before Fran took over was the worst stretch of Iowa BB that I have ever seen.

They were all role players and Tilman took Wards starting spot last year.

Look, even with a healthy Langford, I wouldn't argue if you thought KU was the pre season number 1. We will find out soon though as MSUs first game of the season is vs UK.
