Guy I work with is an IU fan. He said he ran into Brunk at a concert at Ruoff and when he came in the next day was like “yeah we’re in trouble if he starts.” Said he thought Brunk looked way too skinny.

I personally wouldn't be surprised if he averaged 7 and 5 though.

He got himself into shape. He looks skinnier than he did at Butler, but I do not think that is a bad thing.

I'm curious to see if his terrible defense was a product of Butler's terrible defense or not.

If he doesn't play good defense, Archie won't put him in.

That was my thought too, but then having Davis and TJD behind he could still be the best defender of those three to begin. TJD will improve throughout the year though.

I do like the way the schedule was put together to get the feet wet...bad teams to start by end of November solid mid-majors and then come December all games vs power 5 schools and UConn for the rest of the schedule.

Well, since you asked, yes. You actually said it yourself by stating he Would be "more than adequate", which one could easily interpret as "moving the needle".
Laughing
Or maybe said grad transfer was not being used properly at his former school. When Brunk was getting more minutes for Butler last year, they were winning games. They slowly gave him less minutes and their season turned to shit. Will Brunk be a super star in the Big Ten? No. Will he be more than adequate? Probably.

Did anyone say he would move the needle?

Saying he will be more than adequate is not even close to saying he will move the needle for IU.

Now, I will say that the addition of Brunk, along with the guys getting older, and TJD coming in will move the needle for IU. IU will at the very least make the tournament this year.

Yeah, gotta be very specific for him. He's a little (or a lot) slow. He's the board idiot.

Carson Edwards goes for multiple 30+ in Reg season games.
Board moron response : he’s a chucker who will cost his team games.
CE follows up by record setting scoring in NCAA tourney.
BMR: he’s a chucker who will never make an NBA roster
CE shines in Summer League play. Signs guaranteed contract with Celts.
BMR: Thats not against NBA level talent. Will probably get waived.
CE goes off for 8 made 3s in one quarter in preseason play.
BMR: games don’t count so let’s see what happens when the game is for reals.

Can’t wait for the next chapter to play out in this epic saga of bad predictions.

Apparently IU fans didn't get excited enough when Yogi hit nine 3's in a game while he was in Dallas. I guess that's a HUGE deal to be widely celebrated.

Here you go....YAY YOGI!

Gee, hard to compete with that!
not the point Cartwright was the last one that was really athletic that Iowa fans were happy with.

speed , athletic ability and defensive ability in the same player that plays PG is/was a hard player for Fran to get.

Toussaint has these traits, now its up to him to use those ability going forward.

dribble drive and dish or finish at the rim. past Iowa PG's that had that ability were Ronnie under Lute
BJ under Davis
Dean Oliver under Davis the Stevie boy
Tony Freeman under Steve
Cartwight under Fran
and now Toussaint under Fran

BJ under Davis guided the Hawks to the Elite 8
Dean under Davis to Iowa's last sweet 16
Freeman to Iowa last BT Winning season under Steve
Cartwight in Fran's 2nd season to a 8-10 7th place BT Season and the NIT,

now its Toussaints turn to see what he can do in his 1st season. the other set the bar for him to = or do better.

that was obvious going into the season, he was going to shoot a lot. lol bunch of morons
Was it obvious he was gonna miss a lot, too?Laughing He took more threes(380) than Kline had total FGA(352). Still amazed that dudes arm is ok----703 shots is a whole lotta of shooting..Laughing

He wasn't top 50 on ESPN, Rivals, or 247. Top 60 ;).

I agree with he can be one of the better frosh in the B10, but I'm just saying the amount of weight being lofted on a kid in his position is too much. You see it every year. The year off may have helped him learn the system, but that doesn't mean he's going to perform. I've seen so many kids be labeled something in the off-season, and then the games happen.
He was 52nd per Rivals...He was a mainstay among the Top 50 for most of his recruitment.
Of course its not a given he's gonna produce. Might not. As you said, has happened many of time. I've seen the kid in practice and scrimmages. I'd be shocked if he doesn't (have an impact).

I bet I watched that movie over 100+ times at my grandparents growing up. Great Flick and very underrated in the Tom Hanks performance list.

We go to trivia night a lot and there was a question the other day of what team did they play in the championship.

Got it wrong despite living close to Racine

Since the coaching search. There’s something about Howard

I just saw it, lol he absolutely said or insinuated all of the things you called him out about. Balas has and always will be a hack when it comes to basketball recruiting coverage. Basically all he does is consolidates info from rivals national guys, he has none of his own sources.

19 shots a game for 24 points per game isn't really that crazy. But you know very little about basketball if you thought 23-25ppg was too much for Edwards last year. The team lost so much, so you knew he was going to shoot a lot and you knew he was a great player.

He clearly had an axe to grind with the Todd recruitment from the start. At one point, he said or hinted that he knew something that was bad about Todd but he couldn't or wouldn't say what it was. When someone pushed him, he said it isn't the kid but people around him but still no details. That pissed me off.

Then he tried to push this angle that another recruit would move away if Michigan got Todd. That didn't go anywhere and the rivals national guys basically said that was bunk and it was never brought up again. I don't think he is against Howard but the coverage seems to negative or hints at negative at every turn but the Todd recruitment he made no bones how he felt and until the last few days, his angle was Michigan had zero shot and when it became clear that they did have a shot, he went really negative and from different angles. When posters were getting excited, he was a wet blanket at every step. Just bizarre IMO. And annoying cuz I felt he was not an impartial reporter anymore.

UM is really bringing out the bag now. Their athletic department makes so much money, it was a shame they never used that money under Beilein. Howard is taking full advantage

Very strange. I just assumed that the lead guy for each team site had close ties with the school he is covering. I guess that isn’t the case for your Rivals guy.

Edit: Also, if the above is true, how does he still have a job? If he doesn’t have an “in” with people at the school, whether it is the AD, basketball/football ops, or coaching staffs, you guys are really getting short changed on “inside” info that you are paying for.
