***NBA Playoffs: Finals Thread***

facebook ref. My mistake, though. Should have said Rivals' Ref.
I officiate CBB. I worked full-time for some 13 seasons. Worked in the MVC, Sun-Belt, OVC, Horizon as a full-time conference official. Worked ACC, Big 10 and Big East OOC. Filled in at times for conference games. I have worked the D2 NCAA tournament. NAIA semi-finals. D3 semi-finals. Worked numerous conference tourneys.
I' m far more than just a "rivals ref".

Ok...much, much, MUCH closer than I originally thought. The very last angle is really a great look. I take back what I said. Bang bang. And tbh, don' think I could see overturning it. Really close.
wait a minute, IU. That's not how it works here. You must stick with your original comment at all times. Even if proven factually to be incorrect. Certainly you cannot be so rational as to change your mind on a judgement call.

sanctions might be coming.

In all seriousness, I think the call was 50-50. Called it a block originally I would not have objected one bit.

I think what happened was simple. 2 guys had different calls and they wanted to get it right so they made up the idea of thinking he might not have been out of the circle (clearly, they knew better).

Even to this point I have no issue. Issue was they changed a call that was so close. should have either stood, or they should never have checked and jumped it.

Like they did Thursday; hittimg timely 3's. Look, Clev dominated the boards . LeBron went for 51. And they still lost. Plus I'm not so sure Cleveland dominates the boards like so again. IMO Clev needs GS to be average to win. And even that may not be emough. LeBrons gonna have to put up 45 plus each night....just to keep it close.
and I don't completely disagree, but you only want to look at this one way. The GS timely 3s mostly came in OT as well. If the Cavs shot their usual 35% from 3 they run away with that game, but that ruins your narrative I realize.

No way the play was indisputable enough to be overturned.

And the entire NBA rule should be tossed out. Why should the entire play be reviewable when it is never reviewable otherwise if only because you are reviewing to see if he was in the arc?

Either review every block/charge call or only review if he is in the arc or not.

That rule is garbage.

That is like saying you cannot review catches at all. However, you can review if someone crossed the goal line or not and if you do you can review the whole play.

The player is stopped at the 1 yard line clearly short. Setting up 1st and goal from the 1 with 20 seconds left.

However, the refs decide they are going to review if he crossed the goal line just in case. And then after review they decide the player clearly wasn't in the end zone and he didn't actually maintain control of the ball to complete the catch so it is now incomplete and a turnover on downs.

Like, you know how asinine that would be if you are not allowed to review the catch at any other time unless that scenario and how asinine that because refs thought he was a yard away from the goal line but they wanted to review just in case would be?

That is basically what happened in the finals. Except the call was not indisputable either way to even overturn it in the first place.

I don’t have feelings about either team either way. I can appreciate the greatness of GSW as well as LeBron. But I get ya, a lot of folks have strong feelings about one or the other.
It’s mostly the fans, idk, I suppose it’s because I’m surrounded by such bandwagoneers, that it bums me out. It’s similar to the Giants fans when they won those World Series a few years back, their fans in the city were intolerable. I’m also a hater though.

Bandwagon, USA, all over the place. My boys are 5 and 8. My 8-year old really doesn’t care either way. My 5-yr old fell in love w Bron in ‘16 as we watched almost every Finals game together, and boy did it pay off. He loves the game. Crushed all comers his first year of hoops. Anyway, he’s a rarity, cause every 5-year-old-to-teen I see in gear is a Warriors fan. So many Curry jerseys in this town, in central friggin Illinois.

Your boy is one of the smart ones. Love seeing kids go against the grain and pick a team that they truly love. The curry jerseys mixed with his gay ass shimmy make me wanna barf. I do like Swaggy P though.

Ha. We have a neighbor who is like 12-13 and SUCKS at basketball, but he has a Curry jersey, shorts, shoes outfit he wears around all the time. Oy vey. If only I was immature enough to call him out. Dammit.

Also, as I’ve stated here before I was a diehard Barkley fan growing up in the 80s/90s in Illinois. So, you can probably see where he gets it from. Proud Pops. Don’t be a follower, kid.

Is Lebron +500 for finals MVP worth a shot? Curry is -120 and KD is +120. I feel if Curry, KD and Klay all have good series and Lebron stays at 40+ a game he has a real good shot to win it even though GS will win series

Best analogy for me is why not review the early call on Hill in OT under the guise of saying they were checking to see if it was flagrant. Then when they found it wasn't, they could rescind the call as it was not even a foul.

Might make games take 3-4 hours.

Considering they wasted it on Iggy over Bron in ‘16, I’d say that’s not a good bet. He should win it, but he probably won’t. Not sure how many, if any, past losers have won it, so don’t pay too much attention to my advice.

I think Jerry West did but other than that I’m not sure it’s happened.

Edit- just checked and Jerry West is the only person to win it from losing team.
