***Maui Invitational thread**

There’s a difference between getting good looks and then hitting threes like Edwards or maxey have.

VT yesterday got good looks for the most part and hit their shots. Kudos to them. Nolley ran an amazing curl to shake Henry who’s a good defender with under a minute to go

Yeah, VT just beat us. They got open looks, knocked them down, and stayed tough after the under 4 stoppage. They did what they needed to do to win and deserved it.

UK had a young kid go unconscious and it seemed a little flukey. Never heard of this kid from Georgia but kudos to him as well.

I think he has problems. I legitimately wish him the best. Something isn’t quite right.
I'd love to be able to have a reasonable discourse with Michigan fans on here but his constant shitposting re: MSU makes it impossible.

It helps that Georgia isn't shooting 48% from three. And just not very good.

I wonder if all the Georgia fans will come here crying about MSU shooting 47% from three.

You make excuses about VTech shooting 48% from three and then when I make the comment about MSU shooting 47% from three it’s obnoxious.

Your lack of self awareness is impressive.

I wonder if you’ll ever hold MSU shitposters to the same standards you hold others to. In your mind there is only ever one culprit in these discussions and it’s always the non-MSU guy.

I don't about everyone else, but I'm excited to see Virginia Tech and Dayton go at it tonight. I'd give a slight edge to Dayton, but I think it will be close.

avatar bet, one you can't lose, Dayton wins and you lose the Herman avatar, VT wins and you get to choose which avatar you want.

Haha don't be. I'm always game for losing a friendly bet. How about a real one. Richmond beats Auburn tonight, then I lose my avatar. If they lose, then you can change the avatar to something of your liking for one additional month.
that sounds great. or you can just create your own right now and we can move on.

Did the same thing they other night. Had 21, 4 straight 3s from deep. He’s capable. So I wouldn’t exactly call it a fluke.

I see a pattern here. Maxes torches them it’s a fluke. Powell lights them up, a different excuse. The whole VT team goes off they prolly won’t do it again. And now Edwards lights em up. Might have less yo do with flukes or career games and more to do with game plan/adjustments.

This guy has such a boner for UK that any and all mentions of Maxey going off from 3 is met with these posts. We get it. We all get it. Kentucky beat MSU in the champions classic. It happened. We saw it.

Congratulations on the win. It was such a great win for Kentucky and gosh, everyone is proud as a peacock. Calipari with a stellar coaching job. The UK fans that showed up were just the best fans. The color blue? Great color and the shade of blue that Kentucky wears is so beautiful. Majestic.

Is that good enough, bro? Have we sufficiently given Kentucky it’s due? Anything else to add? The cheerleaders? They were the best cheerleaders I’ve seen at a basketball game. So in sync and loud. K, bye now.

This was a great post. Nailed it.

If they were all easy buckets and good looks then yeah. Maxey and Edwards hit a ton of low percentage chucks that got lucky. Those shots are just luck. Powell same thing kind of. When your unconscious and just hitting everything there’s no ‘gameplan’ to stop it. Those kids will not consistently hit those shots the entire year.

Hell, even Bill Walton’s high af ass wondered why MSU wasn’t running a second guy at Edwards. Laughing

Laughing It’s not about giving anybody their “due”. It’s about recognizing your team is probably not as good as you thought it was. Your boys keep giving up big games to dudes, it’s probably on your coaches or players. Take your Ls like a man and stop making excuses. Evansville kicked our ass. End of story. See how that works?

It’s also the fact that we’ve played teams with some good players, no?

Izzo schedules these crazy non conferences where we fly all over the country and play difficult games away from home. We no doubt end up losing them and fools every year write us off. Meanwhile most of the rest of college basketball all feasts on cupcakes at home. Not everyone but most. There’s a reason why Izzo’s formula works. We are for sure struggling at the moment but it’s November.

Last year we thought Goins was just another walk on dud that Izzo forced to play out of stubbornness. We had no idea Tillman would develop as he did. Had no clue what Gabe Brown or Henry brought to the table. We were in a far worse spot and we won the Big Ten and went to the Final Four. Maybe you don’t watch much basketball and are unfamiliar with Izzo but this isn’t all that abnormal. I would have loved to have seen MSU beat VT last night or saw Maxey miss a 25 footer or two but it didn’t happen. I think we’ll be in the mix come March.

Never count Izzo and Michigan State out

All that hype before the season is gone and Izzo can start over

As much as we hate it as fans to lose a game sometimes that is the best thing for the team.
Not saying coaches purposely lose but when it happens you learn what you have that year.

Izzo is one of the best at it. Boeheim is another.
Both are craftsman

That sounds about right.

Pretty standard Izzo. High preseason expectations. Disappointing regular season. Mid-level seed. Then: "How'd that wizard get a 6 seed to the final four?!"

Mr March was all by design. What a genius.

That’s more of a cliche. He’s had a ton of high seeds.

Izzo said post game coaching Winston thru his grief is the toughest thing he’s ever done and that he sent Winston to the locker room early because he was tearing up on the bench

Even as an MSU fan I forget this every year and the early season losses are maddening.

Then once every three years Izzo takes us on some sort of magical journey in March and all is forgiven.

Impressed with Dayton’s defense. Tech still hanging around though, they look way better than I thought they’d look this year. ACC looks as good as ever this season.

LOL.. @MSU fan saying he never heard of Maxey... but then again I guess the MSU fanbase rarely has a reason to look up the top 15 player rankings in high school.
