ACC Tournament thread

Better class, not better ranked class. ND is only ranked higher because of class size. Sorry, but a top 10 recruit is significantly better than a couple 4 star recruits in the 70's. Our second best recruit is better than your best.

ND just finished its worst season in 4 years, or something like that, and ND hasn't been dealing with NCAA sanctions like SU. As a fan, you're more than entitled to view your team in a favorable light, but to say ND is trending up and Cuse down is a bold statement, given the evidence.

SU is done with the sanctions, finally returning a full roster for the first time in forever, and bringing in talented scorers. Sounds upswingy to me.
My one argument with that is a top recruit like Bazley is probably going to go pro after 1-2 years. Is that better than 4 guys that are going to become the foundation of the program for the next 4 years? I dont think so. Maybe if syracuse was bringing in 2-3 of those a year like Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, UNC but they are not.

As for ND having their "worst" season in 4 years (ironically the reason for that season was similar in the Jerian Grant (1st team all ACC the next year) was suspended for the conference play) they were without Bonzie (National PotY contender) for 15 games and Matt Farrell (3rd team all acc player) for 5 of those games. With those two back they are competing with top teams like Virginia and Duke, not to mention they won the Maui invitational earlier in the year.

And lest not forget NDs best recruit on the roster DJ Harvey had to get knee surgery during that stretch too.

Syracuse has the youngest roster it's had in my lifetime, maybe in all of JB's time as HC, so losing Baz after one season likely won't be a killer.

Now that the sanctions are over, SU is back to consistently pulling in multiple top 50 recruits each season with a 5 star or two sprinkled in. A program on the decline would be getting worse at recruiting, not better.

But recruits might stay away because Boehiem is over 70 and probably will retire next season. I do not see one and done going there unless Syracuse starts breaking the rules again.

Boeheim is staying until his son graduates. That's 4 years.

The violations Cuse was dinged for had zero to do with recruiting. The main violations were a single essay written by a tutor and two players paid to work at a YMCA. The idea that Cuse was gaining a competitive advantage from the violations or attracting recruits with impermissible benefits is bunk.

Cuse is one of the few profitable college bball programs, it has facilities probably in the top 10 in the nation, a large fanbase, and decent location for Philly/NYC/DC recruits to stay close to home (4 hour drive). As long as the successor to Boeheim isn't Kevin Stallings, Cuse should be fine going forward.

The only issue I have with this is that the Carrier Dome is a shithole

Gotdamn, UNC just had 2 trips where players cut it close on a potentially serious injury.

The officials are just bound & determined to let both teams play in spite of the football game we're viewing.

Refs have let way too much on both sides and it has led to this crap. It's absurd.

I was shocked Johnson was able to get up and walk off the floor on his own after the Miami guy landed on his back the way he did. That looked nasty but I'm glad to see he was alright.

I am laughing here at the thought of Grayson Allen leading with his elbow and how differently the same play would be viewed.

I've seen that play over and over this year. I've seen it called a flagrant once. Just now. That is not remotely close to the meaning of the rule and every time I've seen it they have understood that until this game.

Consistency and college basketball officiating will never know each other. Like I said, I don't think it should have been called.

Goodness. Newton is a terrible 3 point shooter and dude makes circus shots against us.

We fouled the crap out of Newton on the possession before this. These refs are letting the teams just kill each other. Probably trying to let them injure each other for the Dukies.

They need to grab control soon. Teams are pounding each other harder than prison shower sex with no rape whistle. Only a dukie like @LetsGoDuke301 could enjoy it
