Trump

Abortion is one of those things I wish Republicans would give some leverage on. All life matters, including women who might die trying to give birth. I think it’s a horrible cop out more times than not to fix lazy mistakes, but it’s needed in some instances to ensure that people who are alive stay that way.
I feel the same way. There are a handful of circumstances where abortion should be legalized (pregnancy as a result of rape and when the mother is in danger being the most obvious examples). It sucks that the far right evangelists have so much power that any attempt by the republican party to skew toward the center on this is met with the same level of backlash as what happens on the far left.

Sadly, I'd wager a great majority of the country leans conservative on things like the economy and foreign relations and liberal on many social issues but that doesn't work with a two party platform. I wish we could blow the whole political system up and start over with the fundamental tenets outlined by our founding fathers.

I know there are some states with extreme abortion policies, but has any state outlawed exceptions?

The basic concept that stupid libs just don't understand....or they refuse to is very simple:

Rich people own companies.
Those companies provide jobs for people to make a living.
Over taxing and over regulation of those people can often lead to those companies reducing labor, outsourcing or simply going somewhere else.

Pretty simple, and yet the Dems use the 'taxing the rich' mantra as a solution to all of the country's problems. It's no wonder a jackass is their party symbol.

The same politicians who spew that shit that the mindless sheep parrot, most times have never held a job in thr private sector and make a career out of what was designed to be public service. And then if they ever leave office they're millionaires. And their loyal herd never questions why.

What stupid conservatives don’t understand is that when you give companies or wealthy people more money, the #1 thing they don’t do, like tops on their list of stuff not to do, in large font and bold letters, is hire more employees or pay their employees more.

Tell me you don't know many rich people without telling me you don't know many rich people.

I said in 2019 when Roe v Wade was overturned and the republicans were celebrating that they are too dumb to realize they just gave away the 2020 election.

So short sighted. If they would just give up on abortion they would own every election. The dems have literally nothing else to run on. Take away abortion and they're back to trying to convince America that Jan6 was a big deal while also trying to convince them that Project 25 means anything.

Companies that succeed, expand. Hence, the need for even more employees. Shouldn't it be a priority to have these companies never find the motivation to leave and set up shop elsewhere? Dolt.

This accurate for some. The key is to incentivize preferred behavior.

This.

Doesn't belong in politics. Never should have become a political issue. Economy, crime, immigration... those are political issues.
Not something that is a personal matter that should have just remained private.
Tend to agree.

They took the risk, their choice on how to run their companies.

The idea is to make a profit. If some of you want the same opportunities or wealth, start your own business.

What is so hard to understand.

Abortion should be legal. End of story.
Are there not alternatives available.

You know, like birth control, abstinence.

I am all for the life of the mother, rape and incest being exceptions, but that is it.

Everyone of us knows the consequences to sex. Grow up.

What sad is and I agree with your sentence after "short sighted", is that liberals will continue to F up this country because of an issue that has nothing to do with running the country. A personal issue.

The entire country is conservative except for a few pockets of liberals in big cities.

PA is Republican except for Philly and PGH. Would not even be an issue. Just drive through it.

Not your decision. Heed your own advice little dude.

They always talk about "common sense" gun control, but how about some common sense abortion laws? Take out the extremists on both sides, you still have no chance of compromising.

One side says there definitely shouldn't be late term abortions and the other side says there aren't any anyway. Then why not ban them?

I think the overwhelming majority would agree with a federal law that states must allow abortions for the extremes; Rape, incest, and mothers life. However, no late term abortions.

Then states can decide the specifics. Some will allow abortions for any reason but forced to stop at the upper limit. Others will only allow for rape, incest, mother life and cap it at 3 months or whatever arbitrary number they decide.

Agreed. You don’t need a late term abortion anymore than you need an AR15

Late term abortions aren’t at the crux of any of the abortion arguments I’ve had or even heard of.

I wonder if someone laid out all the abortion scenarios how far apart the majority of the people really are. There might be a lot more common ground than people realize and all this time we've been letting the extremists on both sides dictate the fight.

I personally don't care about the issue at all. Don't care if it's legal or restricted. Don't care if it's early term or late term. Personally I think you should be able to abort till the fetus is 18 years old.

I also think abortion should be mandatory in Minnesota.

I never considered it a make or break decision on how I voted. But Roe v Wade would have never been heard if it weren't for how radical abortions became. Personally, I don’t like how casual abortion became in our society. The late term stuff aside. Especially giving all of the other options. I also think that abortion is killing a baby. I am not calling women who have abortions, murderers or anything like that. I just think they've allowed political manipulators to convince them that they aren't ending a life and are able to remove real emotions by believing it is their body they are choosing for and that the unborn baby is just a clump of cells. Obviously, an all out ban is not the answer, but the states should be able to make decisions based on their constituents' desires.

I hear this a lot. So what would be the problem with banning it?

Banning third trimester abortions? Nothing. Again, though, that’s not the part people are usually arguing about. The Left isn’t in favor of abortion after a fetus is viable. Viability doesn’t occur until shortly before the 3rd trimester. There’s a little bit of fuzziness in there, but that’s the gist.

The problem is with the idea that life starts at conception and abortion should be illegal, period. The problem is with abortion laws that result in a young woman having a couple weeks after learning she’s even pregnant to make a huge life altering decision before it’s illegal. These are the divisive scenarios.

Do you think a newborn is viable?

You say viability doesn't accur until the third trimester. But there is an argument that a newborn cannot survive without being nurtured. Therefore, isn't viable. So is that a good way to measure when it is okay to end the life?

Having the ability to survive outside of the womb (viability) and the need for nutrition and warmth to continue to surviving are two different things. There isn’t a convincing argument that can equate the two.

The baby needs the same nutrition after it is born and cannot receive it on its own. There is definitely an argument to be made.

What does nutrition source have to do with viability?

Viability is about organs being developed, connected, and coordinated to the point that they’ll function to sustain life outside of the womb. It doesn’t matter if nutrients are coming from an umbilical cord or titty or whatever else.

Trump gave rhe states rhe power. That's all he did. Nothing more..Nothing less.

Republicans are not against abortion where the life of the mother may be ar risk.

Organs continue to develop after birth. They do so via nutrition.

A newborn cannot survive on its own.

No clue. Just seems like a bad hill to die on for republicans. The idea of telling someone what to do with their bodies. And yes, it’s extremely hypocritical how things were handled with COVID using that same logic. I just have a hard time getting behind this one on the right.
Republicans aren't telling anyone what they xan do---States are.

If a woman can have the liberty to decide that she DOESNT want to be a mother, than a man should have that same choice. If you get a woman pregnant, but don't want that responsibility, you should be able do so.

I feel if you have an abortion just because, you're a piece of shit. Maybe should be forced to forfeit your uterus..😁

You're reducing the possible meanings of a word to fit a narrative. Viable also means the ability to survive in an environment. Which a newborn cannot survive in an environment where it doesn't have help. It can't survive on its own.
