It was a generous offer, particularly extended to a guy that lost control of his emotions. I didn't pick and pick at you...i disagreed with you. And supported my stance with what being a patriot means both to me and the actual definition. You handled the conversation very poorly. Referencing how the bill was passed had little to do with politics---it was used to cite patriotism and everyone coming together as proud americans---even told you as much at the time. I lumped you and Datt together b/c you are two peas in a pod. I didn't need to curry favor with others b/c my opinion was grounded and rational. I didn't throw a tantrum, nor did i ever discount your experience and how you honor the day. You went overboard and felt attacked when i was simply disagreeing with you. I didn't attack you for your understanding of 9/11. I disagreed and supported my view on the significance of naming it patriot day. After all---it was a thread about the name of the day, was it not? You really should stop acting like you own the emotion of the day and assuming how others feel about it---b/c thats pretty myopic.Oh my, what a generous offer! How about a counter offer?
I'll tell you what, go ahead and tell me you didn't think it through on this whole thing, and all of my calm posts about my opinion about it, trying to explain my thoughts on it, and how it is simply different than yours. Nothing wrong with that. The only thing wrong was you not getting how different things mean different things for different people, and that you wouldn't let it go, and that you were drinking and then even brought politics into it, and that you then picked and picked and picked until you got a reaction from me, even though I was clear it was an emotional topic. Then follow that up with how you got wrapped up in fighting about it and currying favor with the stalkers, and ill never bring up this train wreck of a thread again.
I wasn't calm them. Having some dude attack me, over and over, about my understanding of 9/11, literally a day afterwards, a day after listening to the names get read and looking at the names on the bench of the two guys who died and seeing the videos of it all... yeah. It's easy for you to be calm about 9/11. But fear not... now I'm calm, too
The bottom line is you lost your cool and i didn't. Has nothing to do with how I feel about 9/11, it has everything to do with how i like to conduct myself. Your counter offer did nothing to address your erratic over the top melt down btw.
It's not really bad over here but it pretty much ruined the Mainboard.
You would have to like it then unlike it and do that a thousand times. It is doable though.

Thanks. That's a pretty strong validation of my objection: being reflective and appreciative of others and our differences somehow makes "mush" out of patriotism as y'all would define it.
It's still a good board but there's more nonsense posted over there than ever before nowadays. I still like to read it all the time but it's just become more saturated with people seeking attention.
I like how the mods send the threads to the high school board.

Ive been at peace the entire time. I'm not the one who pitched a fit discussing the exact content the thread was about. I get you were embarrassed by your conduct and it would be hard to swallow your pride and take ownership of it. Even if you decide against it, the thread itself did it for you.
I think it's mainly the reject/duplicate threads.

Good idea, however that thread I'm talking about is the conspiracy/Qanon thread. There's still atleast 10 political threads started everyday over there that are at minimum 2 pages.
