The only famous non holiday date

I don't know why more white people don't just give their homes to black or brown people. You know, because of white supremacy and such.
I actually know black ppl who own their home and are not victims. Some are better off than me. Crazy right?

You should call out "your own" sometime too.
That's my problem with how you view these things. I don't claim anyone "my own" except my close friends and family. It would never be based on political beliefs. A lot of "my own" have vastly different political views from mine.

I am sorry dude. I see your side here, but I don't have a strong enough opinion to get involved though. Notice that I didn't call you out either. You and T do you and T man.

Whoa their chief....you might want to review your behavior in this very thread. I didn't go off the rails. I informed you that your interpretation of the word patriot was incorrect and still is. You behaved like an infant, not me. Its very, very clear by reading thru the thread. I gave you an out and said I'd never bring it up again if you did two things. Still waiting. You don't get to exempt yourself from your own behavior when you obviously melted down. There was a rational poster and an irrational one......and it is pretty transparent which one is which.

You serious?

You literally got drunk, came into a 9/11 thread, and picked the New Yorker who openly said it was the worst day of their life to go after. Even after I tried to explain a pretty-difficult-to-explain topic, even after I said pretty harmless stuff like "it doesn't quite match up for me" and that I just feel like that name isn't quite right... not "**** THAT, THIS IS TERRIBLE!"... just "I don't know, it just doesn't quite work for me, I think the date is good enough"... just that... even after I let it drop and didn't respond to your political stuff and just posted my own experiences... you got drunk and got personal and started in about liberal this, politicians that, petty this, mind blown that, etc.

YOU did that. YOU made 9/11 political, tried to go after me for a pretty emotional and personal thing that I was CLEAR was emotional and personal and only my opinion, and might not be right. Not one shred of decency, not one shred of awareness, not ONE moment of "Hey man, we can disagree" or even a MOMENT of actually taking what was one of the important takeaways of 9/11, that people can disagree all they want but, in moments of true crisis, can take care of each other, sacrifice for each other... not ONE MOMENT of that from you.

And then the stalkers clearly jumped in, and you gleefully jumped right on board, and now are insisting that I have to... what, apologize or something? And so happy to be able to run around to different threads... "Look at me, I got a guy who was in New York on 9/11 upset about 9/11! I'm a winner, hah hah!!"

Thankfully some folks who aren't part of the stalker/political nutjob group can read a thread like this and just take away what they want, can remember the day. How a 9/11 thread can go bad is beyond me. But what would I know, I'm just a New Yorker.

Why does everyone keep saying @toonces11 was drunk? @toonces11 did you tell everyone you were drinking or something? Or are those assumptions @TheDude1 is making? I thought you seemed pretty calm and level headed.

It's not how *I* view it... it's just how it is. Everyone knows that, and it's silly to pretend otherwise. Come on... I have SNU and Hail on ignore, but I see that they are posting like crazy, and I bet you a million bucks which side they are taking in this fight... and its not the guy from New York who repeatedly just said that the official holiday name doesn't work for him because it doesn't quite reflect the losses and emotions of the day... my guess is they are taking the side of the drunk guy who made 9/11 into a political thing and got all personal to get an emotional response so he could strut around about it and play big man.

So yeah... there are definitely "your side" and not, for everyone, whether its conscious or not. Its a shame that people don't break more often. My guess is that you likely agree with both of those statements, in the end.

You caused the thread to fly off the rails. YOU did that. NOT toonces. YOU.

Just because it's an emotional day for YOU, doesn't mean it's equally as emotional for OTHER PEOPLE TOO.

I don't get the drunk part either.

I’ve drank a little......but I find it mildly troubling that a few frequent posters find 9/11 being called patriot day an issue. Literally......as commonly used, taking issue with the 15 plus year name of the holiday. How is that even a thing? Americans,.... thinking the term patriot.....isn’t appropriate. Blows my mind.

And that's where it started, after the topic had already been dropped. Keep in mind, my next response was still pretty even.

As I said... for me, it’s too rah-rah, too picked-by-a-politician, too generic. There are lots of patriots who have done lots of things through time. There are patriots in every country. I mean... if you walked through Manhattan in mid March and asked people when Patriots Day is, most of them wouldn’t know. That’s not a great sign.

September 11th. That’s it. You say that date, and everyone knows exactly what you are talking about, around the world. It’s the least generic “name” ever. I don’t like it being boiled down and changed to something so huge and vague. To me, it demeans the day and the losses.

Pretty calm. Feel like that name is a bit generic, that most countries have a patriots day, that most New Yorkers don't even know that's what it is. Pretty clear that it is only my opinion, the way I use "to me" twice in that single. That's it. For me, it will always just be September 11.

But he just kept at it, kept picking and picking and picking.

What can you do. That's just the way some people are, I guess.

Not attacking your stance, but you didn't respond well. That gives your adversaries energy. I saw it as two men who had different opinions. You saw it as an attack. I have no one in this fight. So here, they are not mine.

Dude... I responded pretty calmly the first seven times. I even dropped it and moved on. Then he comes back, starts insinuating all sorts of nonsense, and I STILL responded calmly, was still clear it was just my opinion... and he kept at it, over and over, liberal this and politician that, over and over. Come on man... at a certain point, if you go after someone over and over and over and over about something that serious to them, about something they literally called the worst day of their life, being a dick about it, yeah, at some point, after walking past the memorial bench for the people from town who died, after listening to an hour of the reading of the names at Ground Zero, after talking on the phone about it with the friends who were there too... yeah, they'll snap back. I don't really care about "my adversaries," to be honest... I don't see T as an adversary, and I've had Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb on ignore forever... but I sure as hell am done taking shit from Toonces about it. I get that everyone loves "rustling" and all of that other stuff, but **** that man... its a topic I'm not too interested in getting into it over.

I love how you keep bringing how "drunk" I was. This is what I posted and you have now brought it up in almost every post since.

Why would you say you've done that?

I never discounted your story, nor your experience. You discounted mine and couldn't possibly fathom it being anywhere near the level of yours. Not sure if you've noticed, but I do have pride in my country. You more or less insisted on how your experience with 9/11 Patriot Day is more important than mine--you can sure feel that way, but it doesn't make it true. I never attacked you, I simply informed you that your associations with the term patriot were way off. I wont take the time to quote every instance you went off the rails and used personal attacks and insults (basically the kind of blow out Datt got banned for). I don't call out anyone to be banned. I don't need an apology and didn't ask for one. Those types of attacks don't bother me one bit. This is what I asked you to do b/c you became unhinged and started to repeatedly tell me to **** myself.

I'll tell you what, go ahead and tell me you didn't think it through on the patriot thing and that you just prefer 9/11. Nothing wrong with that. The only thing wrong were the terrible reasons you gave for somehow not liking the name patriot day. Then follow that up with how you got wrapped up in the emotions of the day and ill never bring up this train wreck of a thread again.

I was calm then, I'm calm now.

I didn't get involved on either side is all I am saying. Thanks for calling out datt, though.

For those that don't remember and like multiple quotes;

You missed my last words on the subject to you:

Go **** yourself, you petty little moron.

Again, go **** yourself, you insulting little prick. You come in this thread, calling ME the **** out? Go. ****. Your. Self.

Seriously, only on this ****ing forum could some drunk asshat come into a 9/11 thread and start going after someone because they don't love the official name the government gave it, over and over, questioning their understanding of what "patriot" means, despite the person CLEARLY and politely trying to explain and saying, over and over, that it is just THEIR opinion... have the person explain it to them, several times, politely, and STILL not ****ing get it, and still try to pick a fight over it. To a ****ing New Yorker, at that. Jesus ****ing christ.

You cocksucking little prick; it has NOTHING to do with politics. It has to do with the ****ing people who DIED. In fact, YOU are the little shit who brought politics into it, with your list of politicians.

Holy ****, you are such a piece of shit.

As long as more white people lose their homes and some, their livelihoods. You can smile.
Oh, good grief. Do you need my official expression of goodwill? That I hope you don't die? Is your life incomplete until then?

Fine: I hope you don't die. Good luck. I hope the damage is minimal. Hang in there. Atta boy! Goooooooo, letgo! Push 'em back! Push 'em back! Waaaaaay back!

That's more empathy than you've ever shown anyone beyond your narrow worldview, and I was barely trying.

Oh my, what a generous offer! How about a counter offer?

I'll tell you what, go ahead and tell me you didn't think it through on this whole thing, and all of my calm posts about my opinion about it, trying to explain my thoughts on it, and how it is simply different than yours. Nothing wrong with that. The only thing wrong was you not getting how different things mean different things for different people, and that you wouldn't let it go, and that you were drinking and then even brought politics into it, and that you then picked and picked and picked until you got a reaction from me, even though I was clear it was an emotional topic. Then follow that up with how you got wrapped up in fighting about it and currying favor with the stalkers, and ill never bring up this train wreck of a thread again.

I wasn't calm them. Having some dude attack me, over and over, about my understanding of 9/11, literally a day afterwards, a day after listening to the names get read and looking at the names on the bench of the two guys who died and seeing the videos of it all... yeah. It's easy for you to be calm about 9/11. But fear not... now I'm calm, too:)

At least I'm not melting down like a child in front of grown men.

I have that going for me.

You seriously are the biggest pussy front hole on this board.

Woof... following up boring with more boring. We get it... ohhh, you like to stir the pot! You just don't care, about anything, because you are an internet dick! Very edgy and daring. Totally not getting old. Never been done before.

;)

Smart-alecky comment = empathy

Who knew?
