I understand all of that. And I’m also not sure of a solution to fix entire neighborhoods that have problems like that. That being said, those people that do live there and want to find work can absolutely find it if they try really hard. There are thousands of odd paying cash jobs every day in major cities. If they have to walk a couple of hours to do it then that’s what they have to do but there are opportunities.

Can you imagine a white guy like me going into these areas and telling them they need to change your culture to be more successful. How would one do that and get a single soul to listen....also, without getting stabbed.
I covered that above. My step dad was pretty stingy with ours...and gas. So I tried to find older folks who would rather pay me to do it with theirs.
You keep talking about these off beat odd jobs....not every city is the same, and I know I keep bringing up Louisville, because that's where I grew up and its my frame of reference, but you don't really know what you're talking about in regards to the W end of Louisville.

Our whole discussion began because you said enough that leads us to believe that you think that it’s impossible to leave that part of Louisville if you were born and raised there. You actually literally said yes when I asked you that question. I’m just saying it’s not.
But if you believe him, there isn’t any way out other than people giving you a handout. It’s like a black hole. No escaping.
Im obviously not the man for the job, but I try to affect the circle around me in a positive way. My priorities will always be my family, my friends, and my business. I will try to do everything to give my kids a leg up. Being a good dad and husband, spending time with them, educating them any chance you can get, teaching him sports, teaching him to be good person, making sure he travels and see the world. Ill help those I can.....but they are a blip on the radar if I don't have my own house in order. Might sound selfish----I think it sounds like the single most important thing you can do.
There's a pretty big border between 9th street to the rest of the city, so yeah, I still believe it's pretty impossible to get out of the west end,if you were born and raised there.
