I have lived in the "South" for 72 years. There have been black folks in my life for all those 72 years. There is active discrimination on many fronts; however, discrimination goes both ways.
- Where is there legal segregation, Dattier? New York?
- The last three houses in which I have lived I have had black neighbors? Do you have a black neighbor Dattier? Growing up the folks adjoining our farm were black. Growing up did you even know a black person Dattier?
- I went to school with black children long before the Civil Rights acts. Did you Dattier?
- I played baseball, basketball, football and track with black kids? Did you play on integrated teams Dattier?
- My area was forced to have school bussing even though we were integrated. Did your area experience forced bussing Dattier?
- I have never had a job where there were no black co-workers, going back to my first days of working on the farm in hay and tobacco when our black neighbors helped up out and we helped them out getting our crops in. Have you ever worked in a segregated job Dattier?
The bottom line is that I am a damned Southerner and I am not racially biased. You are a yankee and your whole life is consumed with this stupid idea that whites discriminate against blacks just for racial reasons. Based on my experience that is not true. White privilege is a fact. Asian privilege is a fact. Black privilege is a fact. But just because a person screws up their lives by refusing to go to school or do the moral imperatives does not mean that he/she has been discriminated against.
