Comparing Swanigan to Appling is interesting.
Former athletes that have recently committed a crime aren’t comparable?
Different degree of crimes certainly. More so was using it as an example that neither coach is responsible for what their players have done since leaving

Weed is not comparable to rape or murder. Dafuq?
My comparison is more so when they’ve been off campus for years the coach has no responsibility/influence on their actions.

I’d also guess based on how much weed Swanigan was caught with it wasn’t just some casual smoker. That’s not really important in this argument though.

Weed is legal in many parts of the country. If he had been in California instead of Indiana, it would not have been a crime. Murder and rape is the worst crime possible. Plus, Appling raped the girl while in school. NOT comparable.

This guy is clearly a moron. No wondering @Jaycg15 and @cmore79 would rather be here than their home board.

If Izzo covered for the kid, knowingly, while he was at MSU he should’ve been fired for that type of action.

The murder that’s being talked about happened 10ish years after Izzo has had an impact in his life. Not really a tough concept to grasp.

This. Smoking weed, which is legal in many parts of the country being compared to a rapist/murderer. Of course, it comes from the rando potato that really should stay on his homoboard.
Not to mention Appling raped someone under Izzo's watch, while Swanigan did nothing but smoke weed. Then they try and compare murder to weed, what deluded fvcking fanbase.

You can posses 3.4lbs of pot in California? That's ok I'll help, no, no you can't. He had 54 times the legal limit.

Anyone watching the playoffs? I’m really intrigued by the matchups this year.

Still think the Nets are going all the way.

One season removed from a Final Four team that beat Zion at Duke. Funny how you wanna talk shit after the one time Izzo hasn't won the conference in the past four years.

Are you foaming at the mouth as type? You're unhinged, dude. Seek help.

Izzo was once a top 3 coach in the country. He might not even be a top 5 coach in the conference over the next 5 years. It’s okay to say you miss younger Izzo. He doesn’t read your posts.

It wasn’t a great comparison because Appling did shit in college that Izzo could have handled differently, but the poster was clearly making a point that coaches shouldn’t be held accountable for malfeasances their former players commit years after they leave school. Not rocket (watts to Miss St) science

True, but I thought it was a given you can’t blame coaches for what their players do after leaving school - they are adults.

Yeah, I’m not saying it was some grandiose deep comment he was making, I’m saying his point was distorted because he had the gall to bring up a student athlete from inferiority complex university.

Regardless, do you think weed is comparable to fcking rape and murder? Talk about not seeing the big picture, you are blind.

I don't think we should hold coaches accountable for what their players do, while in school. Now, the actions they take, sure. But to me its silly to hold a coach accountable for what a kid does. I mean we don't hold parents accountable for their kids actions---Why should we hold a coach accountable for what someone else's kid done? Thats silly.

You were talking specifics why can't I? Clearly the other guy was comparing controlling a guy after he's out of college. You get upset automatically thinking he's comparing crimes. So which are we doing here?

Eh somewhat valid, but some of us still hold parents accountable for their kids - but for example, kid goes to college across the country , tough to hold parents accountable for their kids when the coaching staff sees them more often.

What about when Appling refused to let a girl leave his dorm and pressured her into having sex with him after she told him no?

I agree with this. Is it Izzo's fault Appling sexually assualted a girl? No. But Izzo could have said "Keith, you don't block a girl from leaving your dorm when she tries to leave and then pressure her into having sex with you after she told you no. Take 1 game off to think about that."

He didn't cover for the kid but he didn't find anything wrong with what Adrien Payne (eye witness) said Appling did when he corroborated that the girl told Appling no and wanted to leave.

Appling raped the girl in college. Murder and smoking weed isnt remotely comparable. Jesus. It was a stupid comparison, which is the point.
