Kofi and curbelo are pretty solid college players. When he first started at Illinois, we were a dumpster fire.
Yeah those were two good gets, but if I remember right the final competition for them was meh at best. Feel like there’s plenty of assistants that can land guys like that at Illinois. Hell John groce did.

I think the competition was meh because schools didn’t feel like they stood a chance. Ayo was down to us and wake forest. Most schools knew it was going to be us, so why bother.

I'd imagine they realize he's a big part of their success.
That and he’s likely to take a HC job somewhere else in the next year if he stays, so it’s a little bit of a gamble I’d imagine.

Not at the clip Orlando has, but I don’t think we’re dead in the water. Just a setback.

Huh? He was recruiting to a dead program. He landed most of our talent.

Beating maimi and bryant out for curbelo and a down uconn out for kofi is not that impressive. Beating out a terrible wake forest program for ayo at the expense of frying your relationship with another top local aau prgram is not impressive. Illinois will be fine without these dudes, they are replaceable.

Recruiting the talent to make a number 1 seed is exactly what you ask if your coach. That greatly undersells the recruitments he singlehandedly put us in. He recruited and developed an AA center, and Curbelo has a legitimate chance to become one too. You don’t have a clue, and you’re doubling down.

UK isn’t in a bidding war with us because he’s not good. He’s the guy that pulled the best talent UK ever has had. His recruits have earned hundreds of millions in the NBA.

This is another time you should just admit you’re wrong, and walk away.

Yet since Antigua has been gone, they’ve been a different program. Anyone can pull players to Kentucky, but not all pulled the right talent. Cal is on the hot seat, and he’s using Antigua to save himself. You should just stop.

The rest of the country is running out of All American spots with Curbelo and Ivey existing.

Antigua has recruited two players in the last 10 years better than any recruit Michigan has landed in the 247 era. He's rated as the Number 1 recruiting coach by 247's composite scoring. But hey, if you want to keep digging a hole for yourself, go ahead.

Purdue’s new assistant coach from OSU is Terry Johnson (hell of a get). His wife is from my small hometown in Indiana so it makes it even cooler to see him come to Purdue.

Calipari lands the talent at uk. Sntiguas work at illinois has been anything but impressive sorry i am not impressed he beat out a down uconn and miami for 2 kids. Beilein, one of the worst recruiters, took like week to snatch castleton from him.

Illinois was in the Castleton recruitment for like 3 days longer than Michigan. You’re completely uninformed. Kentucky is calling him the best recruiter they’ve ever had, but Gilverine wants to quadruple down. They just took two assistants off recruiting that pulled in the number 2 class for him.

Most of the OSU recruits show Ryan Pedon or Mike Schrage as the recruiters. That’s why I was asking.
Again, don’t know particulars but just going off what I’ve read. He worked with OSU’s bigs so I’d assume he played a part in their recruitments.

For the record I’m not saying Johnson can’t recruit, just that he wasn’t asked to at Ohio State. He wasn’t part of the Diallo or Key recruitments which were the only two HS bigs that Osu has signed since Holtmann arrived.

yeah I haven’t read about any particular recruitments he was involved in, just quotes like the one below:

“Johnson will pick up right where Shrewsberry left off in recruiting too, well established in this geographic footprint and in many of the same recruiting circles. This could be an impact hire from a recruiting perspective, though I don't know if we could tell you any specific targets at the moment. But Johnson has great relationships in Indiana and is well-liked and well-respected around not only the state but the region, and he's done good work on that front at both Butler and Ohio State.”

I’d assume his role was like Brandon Brantley’s at Purdue. Not necessarily the lead recruiter but involved with the personnel he’d be working with.

Who is going to be his replacement?

It’s my understanding that Johnson never did any recruiting off campus but was involved heavily when prospects were on campus..
