2nd best that season for sure. Only one hire that season will have any sort of sustained success, imo.
Only one has so far but I think Underwood can.

If you weren’t 20 at the time, you would remember that Ohio States coaching search came well after Archie and Underwood were hired.Did Ohio State pass on Underwood for Holtmann similar to way you passed on Tarris Reed for Felix Okpara?
Nah, Holtmann is the only good coach from that hiring class in the Big Ten. Oddly enough, if you had gone through the hiring process at a normal time, you probably would have ended up with Archie while we end up with Holtmann hahaOnly one has so far but I think Underwood can.

Whatever helps you remember Crean in a better light. If winning the Big Ten twice and making 3 sweet 16 3 times in 9 years (after inheriting a dumpster fire) isn’t relevance, then Underwood has never come close to relevance in his life.
What do you expect Underwood to achieve this year to have a better resume than Crean? By the way, through 5 years at IU after inheriting a far worse situation, Crean had a conference championship and 2 sweet 16s.
I’m pretty sure he is Garcia’s backup at the 4. Aden Bona is Kofi’s backup at the 5Absolutely on the second and as far as the first I’m sure Underwood would have taken the Osu job.
Is Liddell sharing minutes with Kofi at the 5 or playing on the wing this year?
So how do you think Underwood jumps ahead of Crean after this year? What are your expectations for Illinois? Obviously have to be pretty lofty.Whatever helps you remember Crean in a better light.
Liddell will be guarding Kofi underneath the rim.Absolutely on the second and as far as the first I’m sure Underwood would have taken the Osu job.

Where did I say IU would/could have had a similar run? I said they to would have made the NCAAT. I didn't say anything about making a run....And unless you guys would have made a run in the B10 tourney, you were projected as a 7-seed. WHich isn't out of the question of making a SW 16 as a 7 seed----7 seed have made it to the SW 16 , 27 times----or 31%. And hell, I could say the same about IU. They won their 1st round B10 tourney game....Up next was Penn St. WHom IU had already beaten once. So who knows....Beat PSU, up next is MD---a game IU bsically gave away in Bloomngton.Lol at Indiana having a similar run as a 9-10 seed compared to a 5 or 6 seed Illinois. But that’s here nor there.
Woodson’s relevant to the conversation as your fan base puts ridiculous expectations on your coaches and it shows as they wilt under the pressure. Woodson will be no different.
Don’t worry though, Brad Stevens is already getting his resume ready.
Your lack of reading comprehension or your inability to put together an argument constantly astounds me.I’m pretty sure he is Garcia’s backup at the 4. Aden Bona is Kofi’s backup at the 5
Liddell will be guarding Kofi underneath the rim.
Just like his last 2 years under him in the standings.
Lol at Okpara over Reed.
Lol I’ve played the hypothetical game already, but arguing Indiana an objectively equal amount of success because they both would’ve made the tournament is a silly argument. As for Woody---He might not be the answer. Dunno. But the pressure won't be the reason. Dude played there. When the expectations were exponentially higher. He understands this. I actually didn't like the higher. BUt he has surrouned himself with a solid staff...Has so far recruited pretty good. He was successful in the NBA. Does any of that mean he gets it done at IU? Nope. We will see. Talent is there, that is for sure.
It doesn’t take a scout to understand this.LOL at you acting like a scout.
Top 3 in conference, 1-3 seed line, Sweet 16.So how do you think Underwood jumps ahead of Crean after this year? What are your expectations for Illinois? Obviously have to be pretty lofty.
He didn't inherit Langford----he recruited him. He was a freshman. He did though inherit a team that lost James Blackmon, Jr, OG Anunoby and THomas Bryant.Archie inherited a dude who is in the NBA…
Underwood had sophomore Frazier, freshman Ayo, freshman Giorgi, and freshman Da’monte by season 2.
There is a reason that’s the highest losses for Illinois.
And no, unfortunately for you Indiana’s ceiling isn’t at Illinois’ level right now. Tough shit, at least become the best program in your state again first.
Yikes if so, but I guess “scouting” doesn’t come to everyone naturally. You’d assume wrong…. Again
He didn’t inherit Juwan Morgan who is getting run in the NBA?He didn't inherit Langford----he recruited him. He was a freshman. He did though inherit a team that lost James Blackmon, Jr, OG Anunoby and THomas Bryant.

Are you up for a Reed vs Okpara bet yet?I’m pretty sure anyone who has read your posts were already aware of that
Are you up for a Reed vs Okpara bet yet?
I like sure things.
I never said IU/Illionois would had the same opportunity of success had their been an NCAAT. I said both would have made the tourney.Lol I’ve played the hypothetical game already, but arguing Indiana an objectively equal amount of success because they both would’ve made the tournament is a silly argument.
He was moderately successful in the NBA at best, and is already 63 years old.
Your program is a regional school, not a blueblood anymore. And until your fans/admin understands that you will constantly be underwhelmed.
Yeah....he inherited a guy who averaged 7ppg the season before MIller arrived. I mean crazy he couldn't win big with a dude who went undrafted, with a career scoring avg of 1.7ppg. If by getting run in the NBA, you mean playing in 50 career games, averaging 5mpg,then yes---he's getting "run".He didn’t inherit Juwan Morgan who is getting run in the NBA?
Indiana was in the SW 16 in 2016.....Won the Big 10 in 2016----their 2nd conference title in 3 seasons.Underwood has coached at a high major for 5 years, we’re you expecting final fours at SFA?
Goddamn, we have constant talk about what Illinois did 16 years but it takes even longer to get to any Indiana relevance…
He’s getting run in the NBA, which compared to Michael Finke and Maverick Morgan…. Is well an upgrade.Yeah....he inherited a guy who averaged 7ppg the season before MIller arrived. 15-3 that year in conference versus 16-4 for us this year, man whatta difference.Indiana was in the SW 16 in 2016.....Won the Big 10 in 2016----their 2nd conference title in 3 seasons.
Weird.....2016 seems more recent than 2005.
Hey at least you are coming to terms with reality.IU regional school/blue blood----I don't care. It has no relevance on this year.
Well there is that one part where you guys got prison raped by Loyola, in the 2nd round---And IU went to the SW 16.15-3 that year in conference versus 16-4 for us this year, man whatta difference.
What relevance.
Sure.....Maybe IU isn't a blue blood anymore. Ok. But Illinois never has been. And never will be. IU could never when another title, and Illinois will never catch them.Hey at least you are coming to terms with reality.
5th best in conference is nothing to be upset about moving forward!
He's playing 5mpg,. dude...Thats not "getting run"---Thats, "JUwan,we are up 60---go check in."He’s getting run in the NBA, which compared to Michael Finke and Maverick Morgan…. Is well an upgrade.
He got minutes in the playoffs last year. Sparingly. He's playing 5mpg,. dude...Thats not "getting run"---Thats, "JUwan,we are up 60---go check in."

I guess I'd rather be a "has been", than a "never was"...
Indiana hasn’t been a blueblood for a long time. Probably my entire life time…Well there is that one part where you guys got prison raped by Loyola, in the 2nd round---And IU went to the SW 16.
You have argued Illinois has been, NOT IS, more relevant. There is a difference. Aside from last year, Illinois has been shit. I mean the last two seasons, mostly last year, have certainly been good. But bro---Illinois has not been past the 2nd round of the NCAAT since 2005. No Big 10 titles; well, I guess last year---sort of.
You guys were really good last year. Great. And what do you have to show for that? A 2nd round ass fukin whoopin.
Good for you, guys.
Hey now, he has his own website that a couple people have been to!! That makes him legit!!LOL at you acting like a scout.
Lol so how would top 3 in the conference and a sweet 16 pass what Crean accomplished at IU?Top 3 in conference, 1-3 seed line, Sweet 16.
With roster mobility, projecting next year is impossible. But I’d guess top 5 in conference barring all 3 of Kofi, Curbelo, and Hutch(he’s 22 or 23) leaving.
How many of these are Indiana players?…
You gotta start somewhere man!!Hey now, he has his own website that a couple people have been to!! That makes him legit!!
So send us a link to it so you can get some more views. I’m sure we won’t find any massively homer takes there. You gotta start somewhere man!!
You're all over the place.....Never said Underwood had equal talent coming in. I was just laughing at you saying Miller inherited an NBA player--Presenting as like Morgan is some of regular-rotation NBA guy, who was drafted or something. He got minutes in the playoffs last year. Sparingly.
But we are comparing to Underwood had coming in. Which was significantly less, so him not being an NBA starter is irrelevant.
Indiana hasn’t been a blueblood for a long time. Probably my entire life time…
At this point, you are Illinois except you have to share your instate talent with another program who has a really good coach that can win with less. Not ideal.
