He’s way too small to play 3 next to Frazier and Curbelo. He’d be a third string 2 at best.

Tamar Bates is no Luther Head, Dee Brown, or Deron Williams. When you have three guys that good, you get them on the court. I’m not putting a freshman that’s small for a 3 on the wing unless he’s an absolute stud.
We had to do exactly that in 2019/20 when Livers missed 6 weeks and no David DeJulis was not an absolute stud. The roster construction was not good.

Lol Austin Hutcherson is your projected starting 3 at 6’6”, and Tamar Bates is 6’5”. He would also be your starter at the 2 as well.
He is a buck seventy five, and he’s a freshman. That’s a mismatch all over the Big Ten.
Again, he wound your starting 2 if not 3. Trent Frazier would start though, so he would be your 3. Hutcherson is only 190 lol
If I were to guess, Williams will be our starting 3 at the beginning of the year. 6’3”. 215lbs.
None since 2004, but that doesn’t preclude that from happening. He can still fill the stat sheet shooting 30% on this team. 30% is my conservative prediction, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it were 2-3% higher or lower. Obviously, 27% would mean he didn’t have the year he needed to in order to be in contention.
And when I wrote up my notes today, I mentioned how skinny he looked. 175 is tiny.
190 is not much bigger (assuming you take roster heights/weights as gospel). Bates is better than every guard you have outside of Curbelo.

Bates will be a decent freshman. If you’re depending on him to be more than that, that’s why your team isn’t finishing top 3.

You thought that would be better than any guard not named Curbelo!? You realize Plummer average 14 ppg in the PAC12 on 38% from 3 last year (4% lower than his previous worst season).
Please provide your projected numbers for Plummer. I just want to get it on the record so we can revisit.

We started a 1st team all American at the three after we had far greater success starting 6-7 Grandison at the 4. DaMonte played the 4 out of necessity and never started at the 3 before that. It was a continual mismatch.

Your starting backcourt was Ayo (6’5”), Frazier (6’2”), and Miller (6’3”). I wasnt even talking about your 6’3” starting 4.
Him taking the 2nd most shots of any guard on your team isn’t impressive. Your backcourt isn’t very good outside of Curbelo and Frazier. That’s why a lot of people don’t consider you a contender in the conference.
Tamar Bates isn’t Ayo. Ayo was 200 lbs and an all American. Plus, we replaced 6-3 with 5-10. So you are suggesting a smaller and a worse lineup. Again, the small lineup was out of necessity. Bates isn’t good enough to start for us on top of that.
We upgraded from Miller with Plummer. Why is it worse than last season? Curbelo, Frazier, and Miller to better Curbelo, similar Frazier, and a better player in Plummer. How is it worse?
