It started when you called Kopp and Stewart great shooters lol. Stewart isn’t as good of a shooter as Sasha that’s laughable. Sasha has proved it consistently in the conference while Stewart is a wildcard. Stewart and Kopp would be our 4th and 5th best shooters but congrats on upgrading your shooting I guess.
Kopp and Stewart are great shooters, and they have proven it in P5 conferences. This year all they will be asked to do is catch and shoot while the defense focuses on our better players.

Do you think IT or Sasha are better basketball players than either Kopp or Stewart? You may have an argument with Newman.

So if they’re great shooters, I’m assuming you’d say the same for IT, Sasha, and Newman? Same with Carsen?

Why change the goalposts? This was strictly a discussion on shooting. Sure I probably like those guys as overall basketball players over IT/Sasha but easily think Newman is the best of the bunch as an overall player.

Your definition of “great” is laughable

Went to Illinois' practice today, and I just want to thank Purdue and IU for letting us have Luke Goode. He shot the cover off the ball.

Curbelo looked like the best player on the team.

I think in most years, we offer him but having the chance to land the two best in-state guys was too hard to pass up. Goode and Furst are best friends I think and he would’ve likely gone to Purdue if an offer had been made.

Yes, those 3 are great shooters as well. My point was that being a great shooter that is also able to do other things is more important than just being a great shooter.

Glad that we have established that Carsen Edwards is not a great shooter. Only a career 36% shooter, so no chance he was a great shooter.

I’d take Sasha over Kopp every day of the week

I wouldn’t call him a great shooter lol. I’d call him a good/streaky shooter. He had his moment when he couldn’t miss but he was pretty awful for stretches too. Great shooter on that team was Cline.

Lol wow. His percentage took a hit, because he had to shoot 55 times a game in order for that team to win. If he only took the shots Sasha, Newman, and IT take, he would have been mid to upper 40%.

Stewart shot 39% from "3".....Sasha shot 40%.

Lst year, Johnson shot 35% from three..,,Which is exactly what Edwards shot his final season.

You, among others have callled both Sasha and Edwards as great shooters.

So if his definition of great is laughable----well, I mean, so is yours.

Are we really trying to compare Kopp to Carsen?

So because Stewart did that 4 years ago in a different conference means it’s a lock to happen again? Sasha has done it each of the last 3 years lol.

He took those types of shots his freshman year and only made 34% of them. To me, he wasn’t consistent enough to be considered great. Very good but not great.

Does this mean you’re changing your tune on him being an inefficient chucker?

Kopp is a 36% career shooter with only one season north of 33%. Far from great.

Great IMO is someone like Stefanovich or Cline. Kopp isn’t on that level.
Stewart shot 39% from three at Pitt..

Stef and Cline shot 40/41% respectively. There's not a huge difference there.

Please link to where I said Sasha is a great shooter. Pro-tip, I never have. “Great” is Salim Stoudamire.

Sasha: 41.0%, 38.3%, 40.0%
Stewart: 34.8%, 38.6%

One guy is more consistent and proven. Neither are “great”.

Only 2 of the last 3. He only shot 38% two years ago, which according to you means he and Durham were the same level of shooter that year.

Actually Johnson only shot 32% last year in only 16 games before he quit on his team.

That’s ridiculous. It also shows why the 3pt% argument doesn’t really matter. Having the better basketball player is all that matters.

I don’t believe I ever said Carsen was an inefficient chucker. I said Ivey was, but SNU said that about Carsen.

One did it one time 4 years ago in a different conference. The others combined to do it consistently over 7 seasons in the B1G.

Back to the original argument, do you still not think Kopp/Stewart/Bates are shooting upgrades over Franklin/Durham?

Nothing is a lock...Just pointing out he shot very well, in that different conference, AKA, as the ACC. He struggled at UT-Martin(35%). But still not awful.

Edwards shot 34%, 40%, then 35%....You guys considered him a great shooter....Remember? A career 36% shooter-----Same as Stewart.

Sasha has shot 40, 38 and 41......Stewart 39 and 35.....Again, not a huge gap. Especially if he shoots as he did at Pitt.

Nope seems like a wash to me. Unless Bates surprises everyone and comes out shooting in the high 30’s next year. Wouldn’t bank on it but who knows.

“Surprises everyone” lol. No one outside of maybe you will be surprised if Bates shoots high 30s from 3.
