Tamar Bates isn’t Ayo. Ayo was 200 lbs and an all American. Plus, we replaced 6-3 with 5-10. So you are suggesting a smaller and a worse lineup. Again, the small lineup was out of necessity. Bates isn’t good enough to start for us on top of that.
Lol you guys would be creaming your panties if you had Bates. You are already doing that with players like Plummer and Hutcherson.

We upgraded from Miller with Plummer. Why is it worse than last season? Curbelo, Frazier, and Miller to better Curbelo, similar Frazier, and a better player in Plummer. How is it worse?

No, this is me laughing at how terrible your guards have been.
Miller>Plummer
Ayo>Curbelo
Curbelo (last year’s backup) > No backup PG

He’d be a nice piece. He’s undoubtedly not better than Frazier or Curbelo. Plummer is a proven player at the P5 level. Your inability to dispute his stats with more than a “nuh uh” is really funny. Tamar Bates has never scored a point in a college game and he’s already better than a guy that put up 14 ppg in the PAC is ridiculous.

Austin Hutcherson and Trent Frazier are the backup PGs. Ayo was our 3. Nice mental gymnastics there. Watching Hutcherson drive down the lane and rise up a foot over the rim yesterday was pretty fun.

Lol so there is no freshman guard that is better than any veteran guard, because they have no stats?

Are those backups better than Curbelo was as the backup last year? Is Curbelo better this year than Ayo was last year?

No, because only a few put up those numbers at this level each season, and it’s fairly apparent Bates isn’t that level of a recruit in year 1.

I get you’re excited about a recruit, but let’s be realistic here.

You think Bates is capable of scoring 35 points in a game in the tournament next season?

Curbelo played 61% of the minutes at PG and Frazier played 37%. The guards are better and deeper than last year. Ayo played the 3.

Telling me to be realistic about a 5* is laughable coming from you. You’ve been hyping up your backcourt of a D3 transfer and a transfer from a bad PAC 12 team.

Using your logic, you must also think Xavier Johnson, Parker Stewart, and Miller Kopp are going to kill it this year.

Ayo did not play the 3. He was your PG. he literally won the Cousy award.

You are deeper, but your guards are not better than last year. Not close.

I said Plummer would shoot below his career average in ppg and 3p%, and that is overhyping? You’re just unable to be realistic about Indiana and a 4 star recruit.
Go find my quotes on Hutcherson and eat your words.

Oh, so what positions did Curbelo and Frazier play while Curbelo played 26 mpg to finish the season?
You’re all over the place. He was a point forward, but he did not play the 1.

You think those two make up for the loss of Ayo and Miller. That’s overhyping them.

How is 9ppg and 37% unrealistic for our 5 star freshman?

Are you expecting big years out of Johnson, Kopp, and Stewart?

He was a PG. He may have guarded the 3, but he ran your offense. He won the Cousy award.

Laughable to think your backcourt is better without a 1st team All American.

Lol now he’s a 5 star? You can’t even be realistic about how many stars he was given. ESPN, Rivals, and 247 have him a 4 star.

So Curbelo and Ayo played PG at the same time?

He wasn’t the PG. He didn’t initiate the offense. He didn’t guard the 1. Anyone who has sets run for them to run a pnr is a PG now? He got the award because of his stat profile not because he was the PG in our offense. If you disagree, take it with Underwood.

He was a composite 5 star. I do see now that in the updated rankings he went from 28 to 30 and lost a star.

Regardless, how 9 ppg and 37% from 3 unrealistic for a top 30 player?

Still waiting to hear your thoughts on Johnson, Kopp, and Stewart.

Please provide any proof at all that he wasn’t a PG. I can produce as many as you like that refer to him as a PG.

Lets assume for a min that he was a 3. How is your backcourt better this year replacing an all American with Austin Hutcherson?

I love the talk about “too small to start at the 3”.

When Livers went out in 2019/20 our rotation:

Simpson 6’0
Books 6’1
Wagner 6’9
Johns 6’8
Teske 7’1

Bench:
DeJulius 6’0
Castleton 6’11
Davis 6’10

How do you come up with a rotation at the 3 and 4 with a roster like that? Beilein left Howard an awesome program no doubt but everyone overlooks how bad that depth issue was. Our three rotation bench players were a a 6’0 guard and two centers.

It’s really funny that he thinks a 6’5” guy is too small to start at the 3 when they started a 6’3” guy at the 4 last year.

Plummer did that?

Is starting a freshman that’s skin and bones at 175 alongside two smaller guards your first option if you have feasible alternatives that are not small? Is a pretty simple concept. I wish I was surprised that you two are willfully struggling With that concept.

The only reason Miller was starting at the end of the season was because Underwood promised it. When he approached the fire camp about moving to the bench, they lost their sit, and you can see how that played out. Underwood has preached about not wanting to be undersized anymore, so whether you two can figure out that you’re wrong is up to you at this point.

Look at our lineup efficiency when we played small. We went 16- 2 games when we made the switch.

I never said it was. I’m saying that now you can see why Michigan struggled so much when forced to play a below average 6’0 combo guard at the SF for 20mpg.

I finally figured it out. You can’t read.

I’ve addressed all of this.

You haven’t addressed it. There is no logical way for you to claim your backcourt is better after losing Ayo and Miller and only gaining Miller and Hutcherson (you guys don’t talk about your low ranked freshman, so I’m going to assume they aren’t in the plans).

Still waiting on you to provide links that say Ayo is not a PG.

Still waiting to hear your thoughts on Johnson, Kopp, and Stewart as well.

😂 hold your breath.

I am starting to wonder if you watched the Illinois Indiana game last year?

Ayo played point guard the last 2 mins of the game only. He guarded the other teams Small forward. Not sure many Illinois media members are going to write an article on the true position Ayo played when they can write about how the team won... I know a strange concept in Indiana.

Adam Miller was not good at basketball. I can honestly admit I was hopeful for sophomore leap but he didn’t have a good freshmen year.

More Belo less Adam Miller alone will make the backcourt better.

So you have no proof that Ayo wasn’t a PG for Illinois? Meanwhile, I can get you as many articles as you like that reference him as their PG.

More Hutcherson less Ayo alone makes your backcourt worse.

There’s a reason why I don’t post on cfb message boards... the answer is similar to Indiana and cbb.
