Do you remember last year when 5* Lander was going to have such a huge impact. LOLOLOLOL!!!!Nope seems like a wash to me. Unless Bates surprises everyone and comes out shooting in the high 30’s next year. Wouldn’t bank on it but who knows.

I looked at wrong year.....Actually Johnson only shot 32% last year in only 16 games before he quit on his team.
Durham isn’t close to Sasha, Stewart, Or Kopp as far as shooting 3s goes. That completely refutes your argument that the only thing that matters is 3pt%.
“Surprises everyone” lol. No one outside of maybe you will be surprised if Bates shoots high 30s from 3.
I love these responses....Maybe I'lll hire Hail to look it up.Please link to where I said Sasha is a great shooter. Pro-tip, I never have. “Great” is Salim Stoudamire.
Sasha: 41.0%, 38.3%, 40.0%
Stewart: 34.8%, 38.6%
One guy is more consistent and proven. Neither are “great”.
I looked at wrong year.....
As for quitting on his team, he was one of 5 that transferred in Feb, just days apart...But nevermind that little fact.
For modern basketball, they are ok/good, definitely not great. Every team has several guys that shoot those percentages.I love these responses....Maybe I'lll hire Hail to look it up.
34/38 isn't chopped liver.
Bates shot 44% from three as a Junior at Piper HS..Nope seems like a wash to me. Unless Bates surprises everyone and comes out shooting in the high 30’s next year. Wouldn’t bank on it but who knows.
Sure.....Invented the wheel with that one, also. Pretty certain he's the first kid to ever transfer mid-season..So he quit on his team mid season lol.
Maybe you said it, I dunno. I know many did----and on here. IMO, a dude who shoots 40% from three is pretty damn good. For modern basketball, they are ok/good, definitely not great. Every team has several guys that shoot those percentages.
Edit: You were the one that brought up the fact that I said Sasha is a great shooter, which I never have. The burden of proof is on you for bringing it up.
So ok I never it.Maybe you said it, I dunno. I know many did----and on here. IMO, a dude who shoots 40% from three is pretty damn good.
Bates shot 44% from three as a Junior at Piper HS..
Scout Jerry Meyer ,among others describe Bates as an "accurate, deep shooter".
Not sure it would be much of a surprise if he shot in the high 30's, at all.
From Sports Illustrated:Tell me you didn’t just quote his stats from junior year in high school lol. Lander was also a good shooter in high school.
Lander shot 34%, 35%, and 34% from three in HS. He was a streaky shooter. Thats a tad different than shooting over 40%. Not to mention, Lander simply was not ready for the college game. Good decision due to the experience....but bad decision due to him simply not be prepared for the college game.Lander was also a good shooter in high school.
Ok, you didn't---I guess. Really don't know. Don't have a filing cabinet on here. I do know Stef was quite often referred to as a great shooter. So ok I never it.
Kopp is a 36% career shooter with only one season north of 33%. Far from great.
Great IMO is someone like Stefanovich or Cline. Kopp isn’t on that level.
Not sure what this would prove? Other than that Player 5 had an outlier, So. year? And that player two Improved greatly from his frosh to Soph year---but pretty much leveled out.3P%:

Just curious. Based on those numbers, who would you want? Not sure what this would prove? Other than that Player 5 had an outlier, So. year? And that player two Improved greatly from his frosh to Soph year---but pretty much leveled out.
He likely will not be better than Kopp this season, but he’s a sniper. Your team has no excuse for not offering him. Your guards and wings have been subpar the past few years - especially the shooting.I wouldn’t take him at all.
It will surprise no one if Bates shoots 36%+.Well your definition of high 30’s is probably 35%.
Agree. I think it will surprise no one other than IU fans if he shoots <33% either. I've seen a hell of a lot of guys labeled as very good shooters over the years that struggle to shoot their first year.It will surprise no one if Bates shoots 36%+.

I think Bates numbers will look very similar to Brandon Newman’s last year.Agree. I think it will surprise no one other than IU fans if he shoots <33% either. I've seen a hell of a lot of guys labeled as very good shooters over the years that struggle to shoot their first year.

Didn’t have to shoot many when he can get any two he wants, but I think he will shoot around 30% this season. That’s almost as many threes as he made all last season.

That’s a ridiculous statement. He would be your starting 3.Bates would be sitting next to him on our bench.
I do know players #1 and #2 failed to win anything at IU.It’s clear numbers don’t matter to you.
I do know players #1 and #2 failed to win anything at IU.
I think he’s able to.You think he’ll only shoot 30% and still be the most impactful PG in the country?
