Nebraska will still be irrelevant-ish but Verge is a known entity. He’s a decent get for them. I’d have to check, but I’m pretty sure verge has had a few monster scoring games.

Never heard of her. But then again, I don't pay attention to the Pac.

Wait, according to that article, Nebrasketball had someone good enough to stay in the NBA draft?

No different than the trust fund kids on campus. I doubt anything like that happens unless the player is asking for it… (ex. Getting robbed while buying drugs).
Trust fund kids aren’t always overly demonstrative with their wealth and have normally had it their entire lives, so theyre accustomed.

not saying all athletes will do this, but I wouldn’t be surprised if quite a few that come into new money proceed to buy the standard signs of opulence within the hip hop community- expensive cars, jewelry and clothes…and In doing so make themselves viable targets for robbery etc

I know it may not be a PC thing to say, but it’s a possibility that kids should think about. Their security needs to be paramount

Lol have you ever been on a big campus? You’ve never seen Asians driving around in Lambos and Ferraris?

I think this is a non issue. Instead of a security team, they need to hire a tax attorney. That’s where they could get into real trouble.

Osu announced their non conference schedule. Last few weeks of November should be fun and playing UK never sucks. Hopefully having 460 career college starts on your roster will help early and the younger players can impact at some point.

Nov. 1 Exhibition vs. TBA
Nov. 9 Akron
Nov. 12 Niagara
Nov. 15 Bowling Green (Fort Myers Tip-Off)
Nov. 18 at Xavier (Gavitt Games)
Nov. 22 & 24 vs. Seton Hall or Cal or Florida (Fort Myers Tip-Off in Fort Myers, Fla.)
Nov. 30 Duke (Big Ten/ACC Men’s Basketball Challenge)

Dec. 8 Towson
Dec. 18 vs. Kentucky (CBS Sports Classic at TBA)
Dec. 21 Tennessee Martin
Dec. 28 New Orleans

I’m black so 🤷🏽‍♂️

it’s not really about race…more so classism and economic status. kids that come from money (of all colors) don’t always feel the same need to flaunt their respective wealth as kids that dont. A lot of ball players are influenced by hip hop culture (this obviously can’t be proven with any data I can find, but it’s common sense) and hip hop culture glorifies a lot of various status symbols.

It’s not difficult to put 2 and 2 together. I get that it’s not a comfortable conversation, but NIL is going to cause some uncomfortable dialogue. It’s better to be proactive in discussing and putting that security around these kids. If not, I can almost guarantee that an unfortunate situation (armed robbery, kidnapping/ ransom etc) will force this discussion

Not at all. I actually like the Oral Roberts PF better.
UNC bagmen > Yore bagmen.
Had nothing to do with under the table money, they lied about how much he will make with the NIL.

Ayo would’ve made somewhere between $450,000-$650,000 and he was 2nd in NPOY last year.

Garcia isn’t even going to make close to 1 mil, Arizona and Illinois projections were both between 200-250k.

I'm just givin' ya shit. I'm guessing there will be a host of unintended consequences from all this. It's only getting started.

You’ve been dropping Garcia’s name a lot in this thread and the other guy is still just “the Oral Roberts PF” to you?

Lol you shouldn’t like the Oral player better. You have no 5.

As far as NIL, you are now learning that it’s better to be just one of the guys at a big brand school, than a star at a lesser branded school. UNC>>>>>>Illinois and Arizona in fan support. You are likely about to find out UK>>>>>Illinois in fan support as well.

Michigan, too, going forward.

Kofi isn’t going to Kentucky.

It has nothing to do with UNC being better than Illinois brand wise. They lied about how much he’d make and was 4 to 5 times any other school. Outliers like that are lies, bud.

End of the day, I’m not that worried about Garcia.

You had Garcia in your predicted lineup

Pg-Curbelo
Sg-Frazier/Plummer
Sf-Hutcherson/Williams
Pf-Garcia/Grandison
C- Cockburn/Payne

Spot minutes for Hawkins/Podziemski

At the time of that Garcia’s dad told our staff he was coming to Illinois, then a million dollar “offer” came in.

Like I said Garcia doesn’t worry me, we have other options.

Where is Kofi going?

How do you know it’s a lie that at UNC he could make $1M? The UNC Twitter account has 7x more followers than the Illinois Twitter account. That’s a great judge of fanbase support.

So your projected lineup went from Gracia and Cockburn at the 4/5, and now you aren’t worried about having neither?

Not Kentucky is what I know. Anything past that is a guess.

Garcia will make less than 500k. Even if they go on a deep run in March. That’s a fact, Garcia got sold on a pipe dream.

How is that a fact? What if they have a big name booster that said he would pay Garcia $1m to endorse his company if he came?
