It is what it is. Hopefully we get good news on Garcia today.Would be cold blooded for the assistants to leave and then steal Kofi. I’m sure there hasn’t been any tampering going on…

Is he making a decision today? It is what it is. Hopefully we get good news on Garcia today.
My typical off-season fan response:What are your expectations for the rest of the team scoring and rebounding wise? 12 ppg is a lot when Williams will be scoring a lot, and Purdue fans seem to think Ivey is in line to average 20+.
I think it’s down to Illinois and North Carolina. Arizona and Marquette thinks it’s us. North Carolina thinks they have a shot. All of that sounds like Illinois is the favorite. Hopefully we find out soon because we really need a 4. I like Coleman Hawkins, but I think he is still a year away. And I desperately don’t want to see Grandison/Williams at the 4 any more. Especially without Kofi.Any rumored leanings?
Yea that’s kinda what I was getting at haha.My typical off-season fan response:
Ivey 20
Williams 17
Edey 14
Sasha 12
Newman 11
Hunter 8
Furst 7
TKR 7
Gillis 6
IT 5
Morton 5
Total 110
Yep, crazy how many times I’ve seen posts like that.
My real thoughts:
C Williams/Edey 30
PF Furst/Gillis/TKR 8
Wing Sasha/Newman 12
SG Ivey/IT 20
PG Hunter/Morton 8
Thats 78 but guys will miss games so the team average will be closer to 75.
My prediction for Edey is only going up about 3ppg from last year, so it's pretty conservative, especially considering I expect he will probably play more than he did last year, cutting into Trevion's minutes. Expecting it to be close to 50/50 time for each. What are your expectations for the rest of the team scoring and rebounding wise? 12 ppg is a lot when Williams will be scoring a lot, and Purdue fans seem to think Ivey is in line to average 20+.
Trevion is going to be pissed lol.My prediction for Edey is only going up about 3ppg from last year, so it's pretty conservative, especially considering I expect he will probably play more than he did last year, cutting into Trevion's minutes. Expecting it to be close to 50/50 time for each.
Ivey - 17ppg
Williams 14ppg
Edey - 12ppg
Sasha - 10ppg
Trying to predict the others is a bit of a fools errand. If Hunter or Morton can make strides offensively, the team is in for a good year, but they have to prove it. Newman has been too inconsistent to predict IMO. TKR/Furst are brand new.
Sasha will likely be the exact same guy in the exact same role he has been the last 2 seasons (right around 9 ppg)Trevion is going to be pissed lol.
If Ivey makes the jump up to 17+ points, I don’t see how Sasha gets double digits
I would guess he gets less minutes and less shots. I expect Ivey and Newman’s minutes and shots to go up.Sasha will likely be the exact same guy in the exact same role he has been the last 2 seasons (right around 9 ppg)
I wouldn’t count on it. Sasha is the best passer of the three (especially post entry passes) and just does the little things to keep him on the floor. & he’s not a high usage guy either, he’ll take the open three when it’s there but it’s not like they draw up plays for him every time down the court.I would guess he gets less minutes and less shots. I expect Ivey and Newman’s minutes and shots to go up.
Ivey will play as many minutes as possible, and Newman/Sasha will play alongside him with Morton/Hunter at PG. With increased attention on Ivey, I expect Sasha to get a lot of open looks from 3, and to remain around the same production level (9ppg last year, to 10ppg this year).I would guess he gets less minutes and less shots. I expect Ivey and Newman’s minutes and shots to go up.
Sasha has weaknesses for sure, but agree that his steadiness, his floor spacing, his entry passing, and just generally the way he enables our studs will be valuable and keep him on the court.I wouldn’t count on it. The other 2 obviously have higher ceilings & I expect good things from but it likely won’t come at the expense of Sasha.
Then who does it come at the expense of? How many minutes do you have Ivey and Newman playing if you are giving Sasha 29??I wouldn’t count on it. I’m going to be generous and say Purdue scores 78ppg. You have 4 players at 53 ppg. That leaves 25 ppg for your other 9 players.Ivey will play as many minutes as possible, and Newman/Sasha will play alongside him with Morton/Hunter at PG. With increased attention on Ivey, I expect Sasha to get a lot of open looks from 3, and to remain around the same production level (9ppg last year, to 10ppg this year).
Out of curiosity what do you see as IU's breakdown of MPG and PPG? Interested to see an IU fan's perspective since there's been a lot off attrition and addition to your roster.
Guessing the backcourt will be something along the lines of:Then who does it come at the expense of? How many minutes do you have Ivey and Newman playing if you are giving Sasha 29??
Probably the hardest minute projection of any Purdue team.Guessing the backcourt will be something along the lines of:
Hunter 24/Morton 12
Sasha 27/IT 8
Ivey 28/Newman 19
leaving 82 minutes to split between Trevion/Edey/Furst/Kaufman/Gillis at the 4/5 & a little at the 3 spot (No idea how that’ll all shake out)
Agree with the end of game take. Should be good at closing out games one would think with a couple of go to guys and everyone outside of Trevion being solid from the charity stripe.Sasha has weaknesses for sure, but agree that his steadiness, his floor spacing, his entry passing, and just generally the way he enables our studs will be valuable and keep him on the court.
If Newman passes him up, that likely means we're in for a helluva season.
As I've said on the home board, I also suspect that Purdue will close games at times with a backcourt of Ivey-Sasha-Newman. Put shooters next to Ivey and let him go.
Yep, in a very good way though. I know it’ll work itself out but I can envision each of those guys having some kind of prominent role if things pan out for them.Probably the hardest minute projection of any Purdue team.

Yes it's a good thing and gonna be fun to see play out. Lot of questions out there...Can someone really take control of the 4 spot? Does anyone challenge Hunter at PG? What happens with Sasha v. Hunter? Do we ever really play Tre and Edey together?Yep, in a very good way though. I know it’ll work itself out but I can envision each of those guys having some kind of prominent role if things pan out for them.
Worshiped him on the bearsUnsurprisingly, Purdue lands Myles Colvin.
His dad Roosevelt is one of my all time favorites at Purdue. Had a couple iconic plays in his career, including this one against Nick Saban (really incredible footage here):
Colvin, Urlacher and Holdman was a fun LB unit while it lasted. Was Colvin on that team where Mike Brown and the defense kept making miracle plays to win them games?Worshiped him on the bears
Yeah that was the 2001 season. Brown had 2 game winning TDs off ints. Colvin was definitely a contributor on that defense.Colvin, Urlacher and Holdman was a fun LB unit while it lasted. Was Colvin on that team where Mike Brown and the defense kept making miracle plays to win them games?
Yeah he definitely had some 10+ sack seasons with the Bears.Yeah that was the 2001 season. Brown had 2 game winning TDs off ints. Colvin was definitely a contributor on that defense.
It’s sad reminiscing how good those defenses were while thinking about their aging trash current defense. Yikes!
It really is their destiny.Yeah he definitely had some 10+ sack seasons with the Bears.
And yeah it's sad, but inevitably in a couple years the Bears will somehow magically revert back to the same playoff team with a crazy good defense and a sorry ass quarterback. They're in like one of those movies where they're caught in a cycle that repeats and cannot be stopped.
Cant wait for Michigan and Purdue to end the year outside of the top4.
I like you better as a fan of a failing football program. Come back down.I could see us 5th behind a few teams like Gonzaga
Think both are coming back. Good for Rutgers.Still waiting to hear on Harper. Better than 50/50 RHj returns, but not guaranteed yet.
UNC told him they could get him $1 million in nil. Not even joking. Think Hubert is desperate to make up something like that.Any news on Garcia?
They probably can.UNC told him they could get him $1 million in nil. Not even joking. Think Hubert is desperate to make up something like that.
Yup. Lose Young and Myles, who were both very good. Bring back two 3rd Team All-B1G in Harper and Geo. We add Andre Hyatt and another four (what I think are) talented new faces. I think we will be decent and maybe better. We should pop in the Top 25 (again) during the year.Think both are coming back. Good for Rutgers.
