*Official* B1G Off-season Thread

Exactly! It is a complete non story. I'm still trying to figure out how 1 person making a stupid comment about it has turned it into an event where fans are supposedly bitching about it and were talking about it over here?

Kinda funny that Archie is making suggestions to the student section. But otherwise seems like a complete non-story.

However, I don't want to interrupt IU fans eating their own.[/QUOTE

It's ..... not for beginners.
Just stop. This isn’t what I’m saying at all.

That team would be a very good team. Period.

Just based off of pure talent, it wouldn't be that far off imo. The team probably wouldn't be as good as the 2000 (I think that's the year you all won it) simply because they were seniors, but just on talent alone...itd be close.

???

I have repeatedly said I think that that roster would be very solid, and I think they will get to the sweet sixteen. That is the most hyperbolic thing I have said. Stop trolling.

You went through a team you guys think was Izzo's best team ever and insisted the other team would be better, thus implying it would be Izzo's shiny new best team ever.

And yet you "Izzo's best team ever!" guys call me the homer. Can't win.
What’s your point here. Am I overrating the potential that MSU has for 2019-2020? I really don’t think I have said anything that is very outrageous or hyperbolic. That team would be a very good team. That’s it.

It wasn’t Izzo’s best team ever.

Maybe most purely talented, but not the best team.

Of course you haven't. Last year was Izzo's best team ever and next year will be EVEN BETTER.

Because MGC_07 would never overestimate MSU.

Ever.

Okay, then tell me where I’m wrong. Again, I think I’m being pretty fair saying that that roster has the potential to be a good team. That’s all

You're not just saying they would be a good team. You are saying they would be better than a team everyone said was "Izzo's best team ever".

@MGC_07

I asked you a question that you ignored twice. How many tournament teams did MSU beat last year since you keep bragging about that season?

Exactly! It is a complete non story. I'm still trying to figure out how 1 person making a stupid comment about it has turned it into an event where fans are supposedly bitching about it and were talking about it over here?

You brought yourself into the conversation. I made a smartass comment with no specifics and you got weirdly offended and continue a discussion about non story but let’s move on

@MGC_07

All I was looking for was a "true, I might be overrating 2019/20 MSU like our entire fanbase overrated 2017/18 MSU".

Instead I got a "but...but...but we'll be even better prove me wrong!"

You're not just saying they would be a good team. You are saying they would be better than a team everyone said was "Izzo's best team ever".
It wasn’t Izzo’s best team ever. Most talented, but not best team.

Please though, tell me where I was wrong in making my statement. Obviously the two guards will be better than they were as Sophmore’s. I said Henry and Tillman will be worse than Miles and Jaren. Number 1 recruit will be better than Sophmore Ward.

I could see someone disagreeing with me on the bench, but I think that bench would be better. That’s probably the hottest take I said, and that’s not crazy.

"Izzo's best team ever" aren't my words. They are words MSU fans slung left and right last season.

They have the potential to be very good, but obviously it also could not work out that way. I thought that was pretty obvious because not even all the pieces have fallen into place yet.

You still can't see that MSU fans overrated their team last offseason? And you can't see how you might be doing the same even if those pieces fall? Good God, man.

@MGC_07

I just realized you're the idiot that said Michigan couldn't compete with MSU or Minnesota even if D.J. Wilson came back last year. That's more egregious than anything I've said about Michigan State since signing up at Rivals.

MSU fans were hyped last off-season, but you have to attribute some of that to the media. 14/27 ESPN analysts had MSU winning the national title. So yeah, we obviously weren’t that as good as they thought.

I have also only used the word potential when talking about this 2019-2020 team. Your ignorant if you look at that roster and don’t think they could be very, very good. They could be really good. I could be wrong (duh) but it looks to be a very solid team.

I don’t think I said that. Can you pull up the post please?

Also, UM finished 5th in the Big Ten. Obviously had tournament success, but my prediction for where they finished wasn’t far off.

So do you see how watching MSU fans talking about how elite they will be THIS time gets an eye roll? Like, sure, it could happen, but one would think you guys would tone it down a bit after three straight years of not reaching the Sweet 16.

You said:

as much as you are a big Michigan you can't even argue that they would compete in big ten with Wilson back, probably top 25 but by better than Minnesota or Michigan State

Lol.... You are really reaching. Michigan swept MSU last year (in East Lansing and a neutral court), won the Big Ten Tournament Championship, and made the National Championship game without #17 overall pick D.J. Wilson.

But couldn't compete with MSU or Minnesota if D.J. Wilson took true freshman Isaiah Livers minutes last year? You are an idiot for even trying to defend that still.

Nothing wrong with a "welp, that take sucked" and moving on man. Don't be gilligan.

If we get Carey or Stewart, permanent ban bet that that team will at least make the sweet sixteen.

Welp, that take sucked. I’m not trying to defend it still.

UM finished 5th last year, 1 higher spot than I expected.

I was also very high on Minnesota last year, definitely one of my worse takes.

If you weren't being completely serious with your OP then I apologize. If it was a sarcastic comment then I completely misread it. The way I read it was more like you were saying that a large number of fans were very upset about it.

So like I said, if that's not what you meant then it was my bad for misreading it.

**edit*** this ramble of a post is a perfect example why you don't post while on pain meds. Hopefully you're able to understand it.

UM finished 5th WITHOUT D.J. Wilson. You said they couldn't compete WITH D.J. Wilson.

(And of course, they swept MSU, won the Big Ten Tournament championship, and made the National Championship Game without him)

Okay? I literally just said it was a bad take, and I’m not quite sure what your point it here.

Anyway, wanna take the ban bet?

You said it was a bad take and then continued to pretend it wasn’t with your next sentence.

What ban bet?

The one I said like 3 posts ago.

It wouldn’t happen for like 2 years so you would still have time.

If MSU gets Carey or Stewart, permanent ban bet that we make it to at least the sweet sixteen.

Considering I never said MSU would miss the sweet 16 whether they got those guys or not, no. Wtf?

Apparently telling MSU fans to temper expectations after their dog and pony show last off season = guaranteeing they will miss the Sweet 16.

RollLaugh

I hope you use better logic outside of Rivals, MGC.

@MGC_07

I have an interesting ban bet. I’ll offer it to any B1G fan.

Michigan finishes with a lower (numerical) combined Football and Baskeball AP final ranking this season.

One month ban.
