The TJD sweepstakes is nearing an end. Since his visits are complete, how does everyone feel? MSU guys. Any word post visit? @klize17 I didn't join chat (I'm in Hawaii) last night. Anything good coming out of Peegs and/or chat?

Not really everything is what it’s been for awhile. Rabby wasn’t in chat so he might throw some tidbits on the boards later today.

I've heard nothing, but I also don't pay for any info so... trickle down recruitonomics for me.

There has been some things shaking up with Isaiah Stewart and MSU lately, supposedly. Maybe Rocket Watts was recruiting him at the USA camp?

Stewart’s recruitment has been an interesting follow. Duke, then Nova, then a surprise UK official (that apparently wasn’t great) and now MSU have all been seen as the “favorite” Indiana is up there but never been on that top line yet.

Pretty much a done deal for IU, no?

Been the word for what seems like over a year. He has wanted to go through the process and now he has. Should see a decision in the next couple of weeks. He might trim the list to two but still have not heard anything from anyone with knowledge that he isnt going to IU. A lot of IU fans would absolutely go insane if he doesn’t select IU.

IU would be fine either way so I kind of want to see it haha, but I do think he is IU bound. I also think Keion will follow once that happens. Keion still has officials to UNC and UK for sure so that one isn’t over by any stretch

Yea, I've seen the rumblings for each of the schools. Supposedly some UK guys were just stating that they are very confident that Stewart will NOT go to UK.

That said, this article suggests MSU might be the school really trying to sell him on being a "GM" for this class, allowing him to help choose who he wants to recruit. I doubt that it is MSU though, as we already have one commit (SG Rocket Watts) and we are all-in on Vernon Carey. Stewart and Carey have said that they could/would play together though.

Frankly the guy had a bad visit to Kentucky we have been told. It doesn't happen often but it does happen.

Just saw that someone reported MSU did a great job with TJD's parents, but they still think TJD prefers Indiana.

Had heard something about MSU working on his mom during the visit, purely from a recruitment standpoint.

I'm not entirely convinced that wasn't a case of Stewart misinterpreting what the coach was saying to him. I can see a coach saying "we can bring in all the top-level guys you want to play with" speaking about their recruiting prowess, and him thinking that means he gets to pick who they recruit.

If the quote by the coach was legit, the only program on his list who I could see making that bold of a proclamation would be Washington and Mike Hopkins. He needs to make a splash and may be willing to say just about anything to get that NLI signed.

Stewart is very, very close with Mike Hopkins. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go there at all

Would love to see him playing for the Hoosiers, but also wouldn't mind getting to watch him play down the road from me at UW.

I feel Wisconsin is too low. Its behind a paywall, so dont want to post too much. Just shows some teams are all over the spectrum.

"Nebraska is picked to finish as high as second and as low as 11th. Purdue is picked by one writer to win the league and by three other voters to finish eighth. Maryland spans the ballots from No. 3 to No. 8."

Yeah feel theyre being over looked by media. Also noticed Romeo being unanimous FOY preseason.

My interpretation, if it was MSU, is that if you (Stewart) commit, we will continue to pursure Carey only if you want us to based upon whether you think you two can play on court at the same time. MSU currently is only projecting 2 additional commits for 2019 (Rocket Watts is already comitted) so MSU would only be talking about 1 other spot. There is, however the possibility of one extra slot opening up assuming Nick Ward leaves next year and there is a limited number of players currently being pursued so he could potential choose an additional player from that list including Malik Hall, Keion Brooks, and TJD (although the probability of each is not equal).

ESPN's preseason power rankings linked below. Nebraska shockingly low IMO.

surprised Morgan didn't get any POY votes.

Edwards and Happ are just the two out front preseason. It isn't a knock. Had he not been on the First-team then that would have been a knock.

Same with Romeo. There isn't another freshman you can put in there for that "award" right now.

Lol how? He isn’t the only 5 star freshman.

5 star freshman + massive role on what should be top 4 team in the conference = Preseason Freshman of the Year.

No other freshman matches that. Could someone come in and have a great year and win the postseason award? Absolutely, but for preseason Romeo is the only choice.

What about McCaffery's boy? He's the only one with a Dad as a coach. That bond is undeniable. No other freshman has that kind of chemistry with the coach and knowledge of the system from day 1.

Except he is not the only one that is going to have a massive role thats a 5 star recruit on a top 4 team.
