*Official* B1G Off-season Thread

Keep forgetting about Boudreaux...Wheeler has been more of a freak athlete right? If his shooting his up there that would be a nice weapon. Probably a little early for Hunter and Sasha, but at least Sasha has a year in the program.
Obviously don't know if it will translate but Wheeler made 5 threes for Brewster Academy in the National Prep Championship.

Lots of questions but several potentially high level outside shooters on the roster. I think we will rely on 3P shooting less this year with Eastern and Carsen in the backcourt and Boudreaux and Haarms' ability to pick and pop and pick and roll.

How much do you think Cline is actually going to play? Step further, who is likely going to be your starting lineup? Carsen, Eastern, Bourdreaux, Haarms and who else?

List the seeds archie beat to make it there. I already know what they are, I'm guessing you don't though. He had a fluke run and beat some crap teams to make it there. Other then that he's been average to mostly below average coach.

List all the seeds Painter beat on his Elite 8 run

Well, when you're a top 5 seed in the NCAAT you DO typically play 12-15 seeds in the first game. That is indeed correct.

Was in reference to the quote above. I'll assume he didn't really know what they were. Shocking.

Top 25 Ohio State, Top 15 Syracuse (finished second in the ACC), and Stanford. A whole bunch of scrubs Dayton beat during that run.

I think Cline starts at the beginning of the year. Not sure about as the season progresses. I'd expect something in the neighborhood of 22-25 minutes early and staying that way if he plays well.

It’s less about who Purdue beat and more about who Dayton beat.

Painter has never beaten a team team higher than a 4 seed. Archie has. Trashing Archie’s tournament competition is odd.

I feel confident that Cline will start at the beginning of the season. I think this team will need his floor spacing, decision making, and experience. It'd be a great sign if one of the younger guys (Hunter, Sasha, or maybe even Wheeler) could work their way ahead of him, but I doubt that happens.

I'm pretty sure the starting lineup will be Eastern, Edwards, Cline, Boudreaux, and Haarms. First guys off the bench being Hunter and Wheeler. Early on, my guess is that Painter will have a pretty deep rotation to see which of the young guys can contribute, and things will shorten up as the season progresses. It's a good sign IMO that we haven't really had any talk about needing minutes out of Eifert -- hoping that means Wheeler is well ahead of him.

Going to be a young, inexperienced second unit to start the year for sure for Purdue.

A lot of the same for IU. I think for IU to start we are looking at Green, Langford, McBob, Smith, Morgan to start. Phinisee, Durham, Hunter, Race, Fitzner. Davis doesn't look like he will be ready until the second half of the season. More experience than Purdue but not a ton.

I think we will see some Forrester/Moore at points, but not sure how much Damezi Anderson we are going to see this year.

I mean, it's no Michigan 2018 run, but what is these days?

Glad we outgrew that not beating high seeds bullshit.

You missed the point, too.

Purdue fans have no business trolling Archie Miller about not having a resume of beating good teams in the tournament.

And yes, an Elite 8 is an Elite 8. I don’t care what seeds a team beat to get there. That wasn’t the point of DaBull’s post. It was to point out the absurdity of a Purdue fan discrediting tournament results because of not beating anybody.

LOL...Archie made the Elite 8 as an 11 seed...Painter couldnt get past the SW16 as a 2-seed...Or the 2nd round as a 3...Laughing

Miller won 67% of his games at Dayton/IU Painter has won 66% of his games at Purdue. But Miller mostly average, to below average? Curious then---What is Painter?

Painter is 5-4 vs Beilein over the past 9 games and that’s all Purdue fans seem to care about.

I got the point. Just wanted to take a dig at Michigan. For years we had the same issue. Now we don't.

Then funny thing is if you extend that a year further Painter loses the head to head edge.
Have to admit---I wasn't a JB guy. But the past few years, dude had been killing it. THEN...he goes and gets good at defense. I'm like, "WTF"? Solid. Real, real solid.

Painter's been at Purdue, what 14 years now? Never sniffed a FF.

You think he’d luck into one at some point if he was as good as these Purdue fans say. I mean if Archie can do it.........

Michigan plays NW this week. NW won 10 games last year (not sure if any of you knew that). I’m worried because a 10 win team is probably really good.

You’d think luck would eventually be on his side after derailing the best 3 chances he had at a Final Four.

Very fair statement. BUT...that 2011 team was still pretty damn good. And I mean its not like he lost Hummell at the end of the year. Still had JJ and Moore. Both who were preseason All-Americans...Not to mention Jackson and Barlow. That was still a really good team that got trucked by VCU. But in fairness, you are right. Just a little, though.:D

Yep it was a really good team that got trucked. VCU trucked a lot of really good teams in the tournament that year. They were legit.
