I am not sure how much the preseason writers are paying attention to how beat up they were last year. I do not think they are going to win the league, but if healthy I would be surprised to see a senior led Ethan Happ squad not at least be in the top 4 and make the tournament.
What I take from all the rankings is people are unsure about IU and Purdue. Kinda all over the map in terms of being ranked and not being ranked. Should make it fun!

He is going to look real sharp in Cream and Crimson after TJD commits around 10/15.

I really think that he's IU bound from everything I've heard. Its definitely not a lock, but it seems the consensus is that IU is in the lead. I think it was Snow who reported that he wouldn't be surprised if something happened a couple weeks once TJD makes it official.

And nope, and nope. Purdue is and always will be 2nd fiddle; Little brother. I know this pains you. But that's how life is. It's gotta be tough. And at times, I ALMOST feel bad for you guys. Here you are, living in a basketball-crazed state, and well, you have nothing really to show for your efforts. Last FF was 38 years ago. Last Elite 8 almost 20 years. Zero natty's. None. And your rival? Considered one of CBB iconic programs. Two HOF coaches, with multiple titles. I mean even when IU is down, they still get more attention. I know that hurts. But, well Jon, life isn't always fair. I cannot fathom living in such a state where basketball is so loved, and rooting for a program such as Purdue. I mean dude, your womens team has more tadition. More FF's, too; And a title. But..... like my pappy use to say---

I love being a Purdue fan. Sure you guys have the better history but Purdue still has plenty to be proud of basketball-wise. Just have to break through in the tournament. Not like we’re Rutgers.

I personally think IU and Purdue can get to #2 on this list in a few years. Nothing will overtake Duke-UNC but IU-PU can jump over 2 and 3.

Absolutely. It was right there with Duke/UNC in the prime Knight/Keady years and while it's unlikely to catch them again, having it be a conference matchup should elevate it above X/UC and UK/UL if both teams are at an elite level again.
Yes sir. The guarantee of playing twice a year going forward helps. Also actually keep in-state talent in-state will help. Always helps when the kids all know each other and have been playing with/against each other for years,
The flip side of that with instate kids is there isn't the animosity there was 25 years ago. Most of these guys are friends off the court even after the arrive in Bloomington and West Lafayette.
When I was in school, the teams disliked each other almost as much as the fanbases.
Things change when those jersey's are put on though. Obviously there is respect but they still want to beat the other and get the bragging rights.
Not quite what it was maybe but think it’s still there just depends on the year and kids. Barlow choke sign and Sheehey flexing come to mind. Also don’t think Hammonds was very fond of Indiana.
