*Official* B1G Off-season Thread

You're worse than Pig. Pretty sure you two are brothers....Laughing

And nope, and nope. Purdue is and always will be 2nd fiddle; Little brother. I know this pains you. But that's how life is. It's gotta be tough. And at times, I ALMOST feel bad for you guys. Here you are, living in a basketball-crazed state, and well, you have nothing really to show for your efforts. Last FF was 38 years ago. Last Elite 8 almost 20 years. Zero natty's. None. And your rival? Considered one of CBB iconic programs. Two HOF coaches, with multiple titles. I mean even when IU is down, they still get more attention. I know that hurts. But, well Jon, life isn't always fair. I cannot fathom living in such a state where basketball is so loved, and rooting for a program such as Purdue. I mean dude, your womens team has more tadition. More FF's, too; And a title. But..... like my pappy use to say---

"when life throws you a lemon---make lemonade". Or find a different team.Laughing
Iu completely irrelevant in the world of cbb. Glad Archie is there to keep that irrelevance going.

Not quite what it was maybe but think it’s still there just depends on the year and kids. Barlow choke sign and Sheehey flexing come to mind. Also don’t think Hammonds was very fond of Indiana.
Yeah, I think individually there are guys that don't like other players but a lot of these guys play together much more growing up (see Franklin and Newman).

Barlow and Sheehey as examples are outliers. One was ridiculously immature and the other was a total douche from Florida.

The Purdue guy was just immature but the IU guy is a douche...hilarious. They are probably just both douche bags, but both are still playing ball so good for them.

You know who is a bigger douche than both of them combined? Chris Kramer. Saw that many times in person.

BREAKING: Division I college basketball player is a douche. More at 10.

From everything i've heard Sheehey is a pretty cool guy, can be a it of a dick, but a cool guy nonetheless.

Yeah most players I have encountered are all pretty down to earth as well. Played cards one time with a group of players, in the apartments behind Steak and Shake which were pretty new at the time. James Hardy (RIP) walks in with his "uncle" takes a couple hits off a shaggy water bong and bails.

No doubt re Kramer. The worst part? The guy didn’t drink. So he was a sober dbag. Couldn’t imagine what he’d be like drunk haha. Loved him as a b-ball player but as a student on campus? Naw

Darius Morris
Denard Robinson
Roy Roundtree

Its weird as an official. I see players on the floor who poeple think are total dicks, and I'm like---"Not seeing it". Then dudes who seem cool as ****, whom are total asses.

@BoilerExpress dont care about the units any more I’ll take the over straight to the bank since Borden just can’t help himself.
I mean, really---whats the big deal? Responding to him is no different than how everyone on here constantly responded to Gilligan. I know JH is a troll. And very doubtful he's a Purdue fan. I respond to him just like I respond to darn near every person who quotes me. I mean its a forum. Pretty sure the point of a forum is to, well, respond. Sure there are times to just, "move on". But this isn't one of them. He's an idiot---He knows that. So do I. SO do you. All in fun.

I wasn’t talking shit...You do you Borden just was telling Express I’d take the over on the bet

Izzo just announced that McQuaid and Langford were the team captrains this year. I find the Langford selection a bit strange, would have assumed her would have gone with a guy like Cassius or Goins, but I guess I was wrong. Hopefully that’s a plus for Langford and not a knock on the other two.

You guys are still running trains on co eds??? Izzo has got to go.

Smart move. Cassius is a leader whether he is named captain or not. Sorry to suck his —- Not much Izzo doesn’t think thru and get right.

Uh, Archie has made it further in the tournament than Painter has, with DAYTON. Not so sure anyone other than Purdue fanboys believe this.
List the seeds archie beat to make it there. I already know what they are, I'm guessing you don't though. He had a fluke run and beat some crap teams to make it there. Other then that he's been average to mostly below average coach.

Not at all.

Painter has had 13 years at a major college and not gotten past the sweet 16. Archie has been further with Dayton, despite seeds played, and is at a high major thats easier to recruit to going into his 2nd year. Painter has had his chance to prove to us he can have tournament success at a school that hasn't historically had tournament success. At the moment the % isn't drastically different but would bet Vegas would give the nod to Archie.

If 24+ wins in 4 straight seasons with back to back conference championships and an elite eight at a mid major is average to below average then sign me up.

limited posts so I will post these 2 notes now
Foster in the 2020 class picked up another crystal ball to Iowa putting him at 80% to Iowa and 20% to Kentucky. Rivals has now started their own forecasts Futurecast 100% to Iowa and Fancast 90% to Iowa.

TJD according to writer for the Indy Star TJD has named his final 4.
Indiana
Iowa
MSU
UCLA

and in a interview TJD stated he is NOT leaning to anybody.

to add to this some are writing off Indiana's golden boy Alford. it would not surprise me if SA landed him at UCLA.

as for Brook Fran does not have enough rides to hand out. he had 2 and Patrick took one but could do what Connor did by walking on and taking one of the 6 rides that Fran will have in the 2020 class.

but Fran can and will be very picky about who gets that ride if Patrick walks on. now another week will pass before posting again with out having to edit posts to add more.

Lol he very well may not come to IU but he isn’t going to Iowa. Fran’s recruiting pitch is to “shock the world”
Awful

Indiana or Michigan State are the only ones with a chance and IU would have to massively screw up this weekend.

Is there an asterisk next to any coach that beats teams not seeded high? Or do people just care how far you go regardless of who you beat?

Besides Carsen and Cline who am I missing off this Purdue squad when it comes to shooting? Carsen obviously would give any team a massive boost in this department
Seems a hair premature to call us that good of a shooting team, but Boudreaux is a pretty good shooting 4 man at 37% on over 3 attempts per game on top of Carsen and Cline obviously being very proven 3 pt shooters.

Painter has also been talking about Wheeler in the same breath as Cline in terms of our best shooters, which is promising. Hunter and Sasha should be good shooters too. But hard to count these guys as givens until they suit up.

Hammons reaction after his dunk on Perea was like the most animated I ever saw him, but it still was one of the weakest techs I've ever seen.

Keep forgetting about Boudreaux...Wheeler has been more of a freak athlete right? If his shooting his up there that would be a nice weapon. Probably a little early for Hunter and Sasha, but at least Sasha has a year in the program.

Yeah, Boudreaux should be a nice weapon in the pick n pop

And yeah, the fact that Painter has been talking up Wheeler's shooting is a great sign for a dude that was more seen as an athletic project that could shoot a little when he arrived. Painter isn't a guy that talks up guys like that too often either.

I think Purdue will have lineups with Wheeler at the 4 and Boudreaux at the 5, which could be a really good unit for Carsen to play with.
